Not to mention that you would have to first make a Club Nintendo account separately from the initial setup of your console/handheld. Once you have an account, you have to manually go into the eShop and add your Club Nintendo so it can keep track of your downloads.

The above will soon be a moot point, so maybe (if we're lucky) the new system will actually be integrated into the Network ID.

I just happened to wake up early this morning so I went to all three Targets around my area less than an hour after they opened, hoping that maybe I would get lucky.  All three of them got in the Majora's Mask 3DS.  All three of them had sold out before I could get there.

You know how many they got?  Four.  FOUR.  There were only four of the other colors, too, which means each Target store only got a total of 12 measly units to go around.

It's always going to be like this, isn't it?  Nintendo is never going to get their shit together and make enough hardware for everyone who wants to buy it.  I'll still wait to see if by some miracle the stock replenishes and I can act fast enough to get one, but learning they only got four on launch day is not encouraging at all.

Ethan, the check I'm writing to you right now contains my life savings...

NEVER MIND THAT SHIT.  I JUST MANAGED TO PLACE AN ORDER ON TARGET'S WEBSITE RIGHT AFTER THEY MADE THEM AVAILABLE AGAIN.  I STILL DON'T HAVE THE CONFIRMATION EMAIL THOUGH SO I DON'T KNOW IF MY 3DS IS SECURE.

OH GOD PLEASE DON'T CANCEL IT.

Dang, that's rough. That's been a trend the last couple months hasn't it; retailers cancelling pre-orders because of Nintendo's low supply.

There was actually a small opening to get the Majora's Mask 3D Limited Edition (the game) on Amazon. Unfortunately it was 10 minutes after my lunch break and I'm not the type who does online shopping while at work. Even if I were the type, it was only available for 13 minutes before it was Out of Stock again.

Scalpers are asking for at least $149.99 for an item that's MSRP $49.99

I wouldn't be surprised either way. We had PS4's continuously in stick for like a week after launch, but were sold out of Wii U's within two days.

*Edit* - And I know for a fact I could walk in and buy 3-4 of any Amiibo I want.

Oh God....I'm glad I waited to get a 3DS XL....because the jump from my original 3DS to ""'"****NEW*****"""" 3DS XL is pretty great. Love the 3D head tracking. A hell of  a lot better than trying to maneuver "eye connection" with the old console.

They were sold out of both the red and the black ones in my town...thankfully, in the next town over they had several. It was a Wal-Mart in a very affluent and old(mostly retired folks) town. It's actually one of the top retirements places in Alabama(and the country someone told me. But probably in the top 50 if I was a to guess. If not 100).

Anyway...got it. On Valentine's Day. Had to leave my wife at home. Took some persuading, but thankfully she wanted to take a nap. She's gonna be glad I went once she plays Majora's Mask on it

Wish I would have preordered the Majora's Mask 3ds when I had the chance a while back. Like everyone else heh. I would love if Nintendo just surprised everyone and threw a bunch of the MM and MonHUNT consoles out next week to fuck with the scalpers. Doubt it'd happen.

As far as transferring my shit over to it...Not as painful as I thought it was going to be. Mostly because I kinda went through the same thing with my wii to Wii U transfer. Pikman and all.

HOWEVER...fuck! The back-plate was a pain, mostly because I was afraid i'd fuck it up(I did end up chipping some of the red pain...but it's tiny. Still pisses me off). It feels like I'm gonna snap it in half every time I take it off. The screws don't give much feedback except a "click" that alerts you that it's ready to take it off.

Found out you can play a game on multiple 3DS' but...of course you'd have to rebuy all the DLC if you wanted to play on multiple 3DS systems. When I plug SMT IV in the old 3DS my white samurai armor disappears(along with the other dlc quests etc) then they reappear when I put it in the new system. Guess I'll have to do without when my wife takes Big Red to work on night shift.

Agreed on the back plate. I too nicked a bit of the red on the very corner when I thought I could pry it loose with just my finger. Nope, the stylus of all things is a tool to pry loose the back plate. I was worried why the screws were making a clicking sound, but in hindsight it's a nice design so people don't lose the tiny screws.

As for the transfer, I had a moment of worry when it seemed like I had missed a step between which buttons to push on what device. Never had a problem going from 3DS to Old 3DS, or Wii to WiiU, but something felt off. It was me, though I did have to redownload Four Swords Anniversary from the eShop. The game had a limited time availability, so something restricted it from copying over to my New 3DS. I had to go into my eShop History to download it too since it's not listed for purchase in the eShop.

Otherwise, the thing is gorgeous. The enhancements are definitely welcomed and I'm sure I'll get use to the C-Stick (or C-Nub). My only gripe is the Power button as I have accidentally turned on the handheld with where the button is placed now.

Definitely and I said something similar earlier in the thread. It's like an arcane process that one could see as being acceptable in 2005, but not 10 years later where the technology is clearly present. I'm serious, Nintendo has the pieces present in the 3DS, from accounts, history, expandable storage, and tech support that has your Nintendo Network ID info for assistance.

So we all know that Nintendo sucks at keeping stock available, be it the 3DS, Amiibos, Gamecube adapters, or just about anything else, and usually the two prevailing theories are that either Nintendo is completely incompetent (which is what I think) or that they deliberately make fewer units to increase demand.  However, I read a third possibility recently which, while still shady and asinine, at least makes more sense to me than the "increasing demand with no supply" idea.  I have no idea if this is true or not, but someone suggested that maybe they're shipping so few units so that they can guarantee 100% sell through, which they can in turn report to investors so they can look good.  Like I said, completely shady, but I can see a sort of logic to it.  Many of Nintendo's investors don't even know the first thing about what they do.  All they care about is whether or not they're making money, and they probably like to hear Nintendo say that they sold out every single unit they shipped.

Never mind that they only shipped a dozen to each store.
