Does the new Threedy Ess work with the newer wireless standards (like n or ac)? I noticed when I switched to n only to get my phone to connect my XL hasn't really connected since it was on g/n. I'm assuming that it doesn't given that Ninty has been behind the curve in that department (iirc the Wii needed b). Or it may just be my router. :c

If you need further details: http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/498/~/compatible-wireless-modes-and-wireless-security-types

The important thing for me is it supports my security, which should be common place in 2015. Back in 2011, when Pokemon Black & White came out, I gave a friend my Nintendo DS (2004) so she could play her copy of White. A roommate of hers was a jackass and accidentally threw out her DS Lite. If you remember the Nintendo DS, it was solely WEP key security. A friend and I wanted to help her receive Victini at least, and it so happened that one fellow apartment inhabitant had a router open. Crap signal and we had to attempt Mystery Gift twice, but she got Victini.

Wow, so the 3D on the new 3DS really is as good as they say.  I was expecting it to be a modest improvement but still a feature I would leave off most of the time, but it honestly works so well now that I could see myself leaving it on for just about everything.  Admittedly, I've only tested five games or so, so maybe it works better with some titles than with others, but so far it's nearly flawless.  This is what the 3DS should have been from the start.

It's when the contrast levels causes the 3D to not work properly..and you get part of the 3D image repeated on both sides.

Ghosting.jpg

That's an example.

Granted..it doesn't happen in every game...but there are parts of certain games(SMT IV. Especially noticeable in the title screen) when it happens 100% of the time.

Oh, that.  Well, I do occasionally see it for like half a second if I turn my head away for a while or put the 3DS back down and pick it up again, but so far the 3DS has always corrected the viewing angle so quickly that I don't even have time to get annoyed by it.  If the system has my full attention and I'm not constantly moving around, though, then in my experience the 3D never wavers. Admittedly, I have not tried it with SMT IV yet, but I have tried it with Persona Q, Majora's Mask, Animal Crossing, Monster Hunter 4, Bravely Default, and Super Smash Bros.  So far, everything has been near flawless.  Even with the very rare and very brief instances of ghosting I see, this is still the best 3D I've experienced yet, and that includes what I've seen on television and movie screens.

*edit*

On an unrelated note, is it just me or did they improve the speakers too?  I could almost swear it sounds better than the regular XL did.

They did improve the speakers - a few people from podcasts I listen to (i.e. real users) have said they don't feel the need to wear earphones all the time with it now as you can hear most of the detail from the speakers now which used to be lost.

It's only with a few games that will have the ghosting effect even if I don't move/screen is corrected. I never had much issues with the games you mentioned either(haven't played MH4). It seems it's more apparent in really, really dark areas/games.

http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/359/~/ghosting%2Fdouble-image-on-upper-screen

"However, scenes that display extremely high-contrast visuals (for example, if a bright object is displayed on a dark background) can make the lack of complete image isolation more noticeable. Under such conditions, there is a possibility that a faint ghosting (doubled image) may be visible."

And SMT IV has quite a bit of the "high-contrast visuals"...though, like I said, it's a huge deal. Just can throw me out of the game in places where it has a very, very dark background with something bright in the middle.

With all my nitpicking/complaining said...I love my New 3DS..and yeah, I feel the same way about the speakers. Really a great upgrade...and CAN NOT WAIT for Xenoblade to release :))))!

If you like Zelda and RPGs you would probably like fantasy life. I'm playing it at the moment and loving it and a few others on here as well have loved it too. It's basically all the side quests from an RPG but a lot more fun than that sounds!

What do you like apart from RPG? Luigi mansion is fun, Mario kart is great pushmo is good on eshop.

So the New Nintendo 3DS, not just the XL, will be available in North America this September 25 as part of the Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer bundle. After that bundle, it would make sense that it will eventually be available as a standalone unit.

So after all the reasons it didn't make it Stateside, it's now going to be available.
