P4: Gritty Reboot
I played the RE and MGS demos. They were just fine. I'm reading now that Europe is up in the air, NA will have one, and Japan will not as is usual over there.
Strangelove
http://andriasang.com/con1pd/3ds_circle_pad_expansion/?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed I can't wait to see how big the entire thing is going to be.
P4: Gritty Reboot
We're talking Game Gear size at least.
TCP
Maybe they'll design it so the extra stick goes into the empty bottom right corner, and just force you to take the 3DS out of the contraption before you close it... that could cut down on size and increase playability. Course, if you're using your 3DS in transit, that's not really ideal.
Mister Jack
Not sure how I missed this until now, but it'll be nice to finally have another Mario and Luigi game. It should wash the taste of that last Paper Mario game out of my mouth, hopefully.
Strangelove
If the SMT4 3DS comes over to the US, Im probably going to have to get it. Dammit.
UnstableArk
Looks like a 3DS XL model, too. First one I've seen in a special edition version.
Waldorf and Statler
I've been considering selling my DS/Wii and all of its shit to buy myself a 3DS. But I don't know. I'm not sure if there will be a price drop anytime soon, especially around Pokemon. I wish rumors were more blatant with Nintendo lowering prices. TheMightyEthan
I doubt they'll lower prices again anytime soon. As I understand it the 3DS is selling fine now, and you know Nintendo hates taking a loss on hardware. *Edit* - That is, unless manufacturing costs have come down below the current price, then they might drop it some more. Waldorf and Statler
From research it seems that Nintendo has no new plans to release a new version of the handheld anytime soon. The main reason I'm considering the console right now is because after Bioshock Infinite there's basically a huge gap until June of new games to play. edit: I'm seeing many used 3DS's (the old version) in a Like New state in Amazon for very good prices close to $120. Can anybody here tell me outright if I should take such a deal (assuming the console is in acceptable condition) or if I should go for the 3DS XL? I ask since the 3DS XL would be close to a $100 more but hey if it's unanimously agreed the XL is worth it no matter the amount... TheFlyingGerbil
I had a 3DS and now have a 3DS XL. For me the XL is streets ahead, the extra screen size makes the 3D more immersive, and I think it actually works better too with a wider "sweet spot". It's more comfortable to use as well, I don't get hand cramps on the XL when I use it for long times. If you can't find any deals on the XL, the special editions usually aren't any dearer and come with a game. Only thing to be careful of is I think on the 3DS, the game is on the SD card, not its own cartridge so will take up a fair chunk of that. Often around here when a new bundle comes out shops will have an upgrade offer when you get more for trading in an old version of the console so it may be worth checking for any deals. I think I got about £30 more for trading in that I would have for selling it.
FMW
I too am a 3DS owner who can help you WaS. I wouldn't worry about getting the original model 3DS unless you foresee yourself playing many DS games on it. I am not a huge fan of the D-pad on the system. It's very small, and it's tucked away way down in a corner. So for playing D-pad based games (any virtual console games, any DS games) I find myself either using the analog nub for digital controls (not ideal) or totally changing my grip on the system. I've finally gotten used to it... after upwards of 50 hours of D-pad play. Acclimating myself to an input shouldn't take that long. That's my only reservation about the hardware I own though, so if you see yourself primarily playing 3DS games on your 3DS that were designed for this hardware, then you should not hesitate. Take the deal.
Waldorf and Statler
I'll do it for you baby. I'll do it for you. But there's no immediate rush (at least besides my jizzing over every game I want). I honestly gotta get a cellphone first of all and then I gotta wait to see if Bravely Default is getting localized to the west.
Waldorf and Statler
You are looking at the brand new owner of a previously owned 3DS. I decided to take the jump. I saw a deal I couldn't pass up on Ebay from a very well reviewed seller and the major scratches seem to be in the outer surface. Seeing how I'll play most of these games indoors I think I've just done myself a huge favor.
TheFlyingGerbil
The 3D is tragic outside so indoor gaming is the way to go on the 3DS if you leave the 3D on.
CorgiShinobi
Personally, I still have these games, but in case no one here played both of these games, posting for the good news! The Zelda Oracle games should be available on the 3DS (outside of Japan) before summer! Considering one of the big draws to the games was the "Link System," there's something being done to ensure that stays intact for the 3DS. How else are you going to get all those extra heart containers?
TheFlyingGerbil
I do still have them but never managed to finish them and haven't a working gameboy to play them on. Hope they're not too stupidly priced, but who am I kidding?
Mal
I have decided to save up for a 3DS. The 3DS is now really damn stable so it isn't a risk. Though intuition tells me that I should go for a Vita instead but I think that will be bundled with the PS4 eventually. So yeah, currently 3DS for Animal Crossing, Mario, Pokemans and some RPGs. I'm just unsure if I should get the XL or just plain old 3DS. I'm thinking of a holiday purchase so yeah, I'm going in new (I like my consoles and such new...). So yeah, I'm looking at about $200-$300 purchase (could be less) of a bundle with Animal Crossing. I'm quite sure I can pull that off if I save $50 a month. Anything over can be eaten by my credit card for a month.
TCP
Get the XL. The regular 3DS feels like a toy and has some design issues. Ideally they'll release an XL-style 3DS in the size of the normal 3DS.
Waldorf and Statler
I have the regular 3DS and generally don't have issues with it. Screen size isnt horrible.
TheFlyingGerbil
I've had both and honestly there is no comparison. The XL is definitely a worthwhile upgrade.
Waldorf and Statler
Yeah if you have the money definitely go for the XL.Reason I didn't go for it is monetary. I was willing to spend $120 at most for a 3DS, and found a 3DS for $115 in eBay
Strangelove
Uhh, Im going to be that asshole...but I really dislike the XL. if anything, that thing looks like a toy, like one of those 90s toys thats supposed to be a laptop for 6 year olds. Its a terrible build, light and cheap looking. the regular one feels great and looks great. As for the screen size, I dont care. Its right in front of my face and the games were made with the regular screen in size.
Mal
Well, I'm currently looking at the XL for $280 for regular edition with New Leaf or $410 for the New Leaf edition XL. For sure it'll be way cheaper if I went the regular 3DS route. I personally don't care if it looks like a toy (Come on, look at me on here...) since I'll be playing it at my house. I also don't care about size since I already rock one of the larger (Was the largest I think) phones on the market, the Epic II. Either way, I'm budgeting $300 and see how low can it go. I'm thinking I might be able to get a XL with New Leaf and some other game around Turkey Day. Oddly, I might be able to save up half the amount next month. I'm a patience man and I got a backlog to get through... so I'll be fine.
TCP
Really? I thought the XL looks a lot better than the normal, the start/home/select buttons are better, and the stylus is in a convenient place. Either way they're both garbage compared to the Vita. Right, Strangelove?!?!?!
