Favorite Game Weapons

Well if we're being specific, then the Plasma Cutter from Dead Space is definitely a favorite of mine. I love how it's actually a mining tool and not a weapon.

Also, if you upgrade it quickly, you can play the whole game using only it and never really need anything else.

The Hidden Blades from Assassin's Creed are also incredibly satisfying to use.

There's just something about casually walking to someone and stabbing them in the throat before they can even react that amuses me to no end.

For a less game-specific answer, a good ol' silenced pistol is usually all I need.

I'm also partial to an M16. When I see one in any game, I can't not pick it up.

Bonus points if it's silenced :tophat:

Maybe this will come in handy.

On this Assassin's Creed note, I HAVE to go with the Poisoned Blade from II and Brotherhood. Anyone ever used this? I wasn't interested at all until a friend gave me this suggestion:

1.) Find some guards in a well-populated area.

2.)Throw money near the guards so that civilians (and maybe guards) come running over.

3.) Stab one of the guards (the larger/longer their weapon, the better the result) with the poisoned blade.

4.) Keep throwing money to maintain civilian proximity to the rapidly deteriorating guard.

5.) Enjoy the guard madly and inadvertently battering civilians and fellow guards about, while you stand back and lolhard.

I love the Pulse Rifle from Dead Space, too. Good fall back in any situation.

I swear there was a weapon in Hexen II where you fire at a guy then chains just appear out of nowhere, latch onto dude's limbs and tear him apart.

I only ever played the demo (where cheats worked, hence, getting the weapon) years ago, and I can't find a video or anything. Maybe I am misremembering. I now claim this idea if it has not been done before.

I also thought the shrinking ray in Duke Nukem 3D was cool. I seem to remember that bit where you have to shoot yourself in the mirror to become small enough to get through a small gap, then avoid being trodden on until you grow back.

Or maybe I am just making up all kinds of shit this evening?

I remember those parts, the first time I thought it was neat, the second time I was thoroughly annoyed with it. The Ice Gun was also fun, freezing an enemy, then charging up to them and engaging the Mighty Foot to shatter them into many pieces. Follow up would be the reverse of the Shrink Gun, the Enlarger, where it made enemies grow until they exploded.

Half-Life 2: SMOD - The Stuff Launcher. That's quite literally what it is - right clicking absorbs a phys prop, and left clicking launches it. I've carpet-bombed areas with dumpsters, or simply shot toilets at enemy Combine. It's so hilariously awesome.

Half-Life 2: Crossbow. Bouncing crossbow bolts and getting kills from it is so satisfying.

Just Cause 2: Grappling Hook. I don't think I need to even give a reason for this one.

Team Fortress 2: The Heavy's Fists. I've always loved melee, and having a ranged taunt kill is incredibly awesome.

Mass Effect 2: M-300 Claymore. I love shotguns. Heavy shotguns are even better. Biotic Charge + Heavy Shotgun? Paradise.

I would also like to add the spinfusor:

TWB_Spinfusor.jpg

I thought the original name for it was the Disc Launcher, but was only renamed (or unofficially renamed, I guess) to the Spinfusor in the more recent Tribes games.

In the original Starsiege: Tribes some servers had it labeled Disc Launcher, others called it the Spinfusor. One was a modded name and one was the original, I'm unsure which is which though. By Tribes 2 they had settled on Spinfusor though.
