deanb
Yeah this entire thread is going to be purely subjective. Even more so than choosing greatest n favourites. Was a game overhyped by fans or media. Was it actually over rated as in meta critic, or by general consensus. Mostly it's just a case of "games I don't like". See if I was doing this I'd of got the top rated meta critic games n let folks swap out things they think deserve the 98 for things that don't. And can I say the thread OP is no surprise . It's almost like your trademark.

StarCraft II 4. Uncharted 2 3. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas 2. God of War 1. Call of Duty: Black Ops --- I honestly preferred Vice City. San Andreas when I played it was repetitive, especially with the body-building "mini-games". Also the graphics just didn't seem to be as good as VC, and the whole place was just seemed to be covered in a lot of fog. Plus the radio stations were better in Vice City. SC was traded in pretty quickly by me to get Metal Gear Solid 3. Also I really enjoyed Burnout: Paradise, though it could've done with having Crash mode. I do miss that. I disagree with all that. SA had more mission variety with more things to do. Body building wasn't required. At all. The graphics were better (honestly, why wouldn't they be?) Radio stations are completely preferential. SA had more variety and quality across the board instead of only having a few good stations like VC. Plus, San Andreas had a much better map. IT WASNT FUCKING FLAT
TheForgetfulBrain
9. Minecraft I totally agreed with this. Until I actually played the game. Now I get the fuss. 7. Morrowind Gotta disagree with ya here, Bouch. I'd say Oblivion, but not Morrowind. But I may be slightly biased, considering Morrowind devoured more than 300 hours of my life, and I was happy to let it.
Strangelove
San Andreas is a perfect idea of bloated and super-indulgent. Putting as many things as they did fucked up the entire feel of the game. It was just too much. No matter how optional, its still make syou not even want to start playing it. Vice City is just so much better because of it's balance, characterization, and lack of shitty useless desert.
Faiblesse Des Sens
If that's your argument I'd say that GTA3 did all of that better than VC. Anyways, once you wrap your head around it, San Andreas seems like it still could have more to do. The feel of the game I really enjoyed except for the part out in the woods. Especially how it all ties up. It has what's probably the best GTA ending.
D-K
I remember spending hours in rural Andreas just having a laugh with the cops. When you hit the countryside, their cars change from sedans to 4x4's, which are the best handling cars in the game btw, and they offer the best chases. Racing over hills, dodging trees, that station where they yammer about colonizing space in the background, watching cars plant themselves into tree trunks as you zigzag through grassy patches, sirens serenating your crafty wheelmanship? Golden.
RadiantViper
San Andreas had planes (including a fighter jet) and parachutes ... END OF DISCUSSION. ... I spent way too much time just flying around, shooting random cars, then bailing out and parachuting on top of stuff. Also, going up that mountain and driving off with various vehicles was always fun. It had couch co-op. Not really extensive, but just the ability to free-roam and cause chaos with a friend was great. when did this become a San Andreas thread Edited December 30, 2010 by RadiantViper

You put San Andreas back on, which I appreciate, but you took off Paradise, which I do not appreciate. We are now frenemies.
King Jimmeh
Now, I have to ask, is that better or worse than being enemiends? I think there are a number of other racing games that could be listed as more overrated than Burnout Paradise. Just out of curiosity what is it about Paradise that people think make it overrated? I ask as I haven't seen any reasons mentioned here.

Cyber Rat
I don't understand how Minecraft can be on that list, not because I like the game, but because it isn't even finished...
Showmeyomoves!
Street Fighter IV shouldn't be on there. I'm no beat 'em up buff, but the controls and art direction are great. And it's just fun to play. 10. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 9. Minecraft 8. Mass Effect 2 7. Morrowind 6. Ninja Gaiden 5. StarCraft II 4. Uncharted 2 3. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas 2. Strangelove
I like Ninja Gaiden a lot, but....yeah. It's overrated by the hack n slash community, not really the entire gaming community. Difficulty is fine if its actually difficult, but being cheap is shit. NG2 is the worst offender. Thank God Sigma 2 fixed it. The story is shit, the voiceacting is awful, the characters have as much personality as a pubic hair, the level designs are atrocious, and the animations are stiff as hell. I myself dont really like "canned" combos. Thats why I dislike Tekken. Remembering button press sequences is lame. The entire game is all about blocking and pulling out the same awkward looking combo ad nauseum. I like a bit of customization. That being said, Sigma 2 is a lot of fun if you play it like a normal person. I like mixing it up and shooting useless ninja stars and using crappy weapons and running around like a retard. Co-op is also fun. Plus, titties. Lots of titties. Edited December 30, 2010 by Strangelove
Yantelope
Ninja Gaiden is one of the best Xbox games. I call heresy. It's combat was and still is the envy of all God of War type hack and slash games. Also it's way better than God of War.
Gyaruson
10. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 9. Minecraft 8. Mass Effect 2 Fable 2 7. Morrowind 6. Ninja Gaiden 5. StarCraft II 4. Uncharted 2 3. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas 2. God of War 1. World of Warcraft: Cataclysm No, no no no. Mass Effect doesn't belong to be anywhere near this list. All the Fables are overrated pieces of shit, but Fable 2 was just Godawful. I could really just copy my comment from the "Fable" thread and paste it here. Yantelope
Yeah but in order for Fable to be overrated there must be a wealth of people who think the game is fantastic. I'm still looking for 1. The list isn't "Top 10 games I don't like". Also Mass Effect doesn't belong on this list.

Man, every time I bring up how much Fable blows, all I get is backlash from Fable-enthusiasts. It's not a bro game, but it's definitely more liked than it is disliked. That makes it overrated, by definition.
Yantelope
No it's not. It's a good game with widely documented faults. It's not overrated. If a game has glaring faults *cough UNCHARTED 2 cough* that are widely ignored then you have overrated.
