CorgiShinobi
After the videos uploaded to GameTrailers, I'm interested in this game. Not sure how much, but I've got interest.

Strangelove
I still dont know what the fuck this game is about, but Im getting it. Atlus needs to be encouraged to jump on the current generation.
Connorrrr
the American demo is being released next week on both platforms. Hooray!
Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
the American demo is being released next week on both platforms. Hooray! Did they mention if it will be in English? I know it's rather popular to play in Japanese with English subtitles, but I prefer entirely English voice overs, and it would be nice to sample the quality of said voice overs. Connorrrr
A new English trailer was just released to go with the news of the demo http://www.siliconera.com/2011/07/05/new-catherine-trailer-is-a-sneak-peek-at-next-weeks-demo/
Saturnine Tenshi
Decided I won't be getting this one. Somewhere between the cloying "news"(read: reposting of stuff that's always been posted for the only-months-ahead Japanese release — friggin' GameJournos) and my moving soon, I decided not to get it. I'll probably get it later, though. Once I've settled into the new house. I'm still trying to figure out what route I'm going to take to get my current collection eight-hundred miles north. Oh, that wasn't a jab at you, Connorrr. I opened my e-mail when I got home and the new trailer was there.
MetalCaveman
The demo is out, have you guys played it? It's fun, will take me a while to get used to the controls, and so far it's been intense, trying to find the best route and suddenly missing a block or making a wrong move is not cool. Also, it's cool that now I can understand what they're saying. http://www.catherinethegame.com/home.html If you click on the cellphone it gives you the option to check your "email" and you can reply to some messages and stuff, missed one yesterday and it seems that it I can no longer reply. Connorrrr
Yeah I just got done playing the demo. I'm pleased the voice acting isn't awful. Could be better in parts but I think Troy Baker does a pretty good job as Vincent. I like the text messaging feature and how you can pick your reply which will then affect Vincent's inner thoughts... I think it has a lot going for it and I'm interested to see how the game will be as a complete product. Safe to say this is a definite purchase for me. CorgiShinobi
See, this is what the PlayStation magazine was talking about that got my interested; that we have control over Vincent's thoughts, thus multiple endings along with dialogue. The text message system is a little goofy (cycle through dialogue with X and O), but I like the way we can interact with other characters. What I also like is the weird and artistic nature of Vincent's life. When he first woke up with sheep eyes, that was trippy. Looks like there will be other twists and unique turns around each corner. Also, I like Katherine. I mean, they're trying to make her come off as a bit controlling, but considering she and Vincent have been dating for years (I believe I read somewhere it was five years), I can see why she wants an answer from Vincent on whether their relationship is going to progress or stay in the "safe zone." What I've read is that there is a recent trend in Japan where young men simply wish to not marry their girlfriend though they are absolutely in love. It's not that they have some "male freedom" issue, but that to them marriage sets their future. It reminds me of my uncle, a man who has been with this one woman for almost 15 years. She likes to call my grandmother "Mom," but even my grandmother who is at the age of 87 can grasp how backwards their relationship is. No kids, no commitments other than the promise that they'll stick around. To think, all those years and all that's stopping one of them from leaving is the idea of wasted time. Saturnine Tenshi
A topic for another thread, I know, but why must someone have marriage to legitimize a relationship? If two people are happy together, isn't that what's important? Edit: WHY IS MOOGLE RANKED ABOVE PRINNY!?!? Edit: WHY IS MOOGLE RANKED ABOVE PRINNY!?!? To bring it back to the game: The situation here is that, in this case, only one side is happy with the way things are, Vincent doesn't want to take any risks even after all those years, while Katherine does want to get married for whatever reasons she has. Saturnine Tenshi
Oh, I know the situation. I've heard it five or ten times now. >.> But yeah, it's a bit of a quandary when one party wants it, for whatever reason.
CorgiShinobi
I think what I said relates well to the game. Vincent, perhaps by default (without our interaction), is scared of adult pressures and avoids anything that might "set" his future. (This is what the PlayStation magazine article mentions, and judging by the trial, you can see it in comparison to his friends.) That's what I have a problem with as far as that logic goes. Not towards the game, but the idea that doing things like having kids and/or getting married sets a future and that you are "trapped." I guess I got a little off aim with my point, perhaps offended a few, but I don't agree that only certain events and procedures set one's future. Even when you're married you're set in an open world with countless possibilities. It's not like tying the knot is done around one's neck. EDIT: Another thing is I realize you guys don't have the perspective upon the relationship of my uncle, and etc, so the emotion that looms over it is hard to put to text. It may very well be another "Catherine" moment since his partner acts like they are married, but again, there's not much commitment since there are always periods of "splitting." That's actually one of the questions that appears in the game, and I think it was on the website too: "Life ends or begins at marriage?" Or something like that. CorgiShinobi
One of the key points to Catherine is that there are no correct answers. Again, coming from that article I read, just like the puzzles in the game, there are many answers and endings in relationships between men and women. I guess it's why relationship "advice" is such a gray area and one method results in many outcomes. It'll be interesting to see what endings we all will receive because I am definitely getting this Day One! WTF
To those interested if memory serves me right there are 8 endings 3 for K 3 for C and 2 for well I'm not spoiling that then again I never finished the game in Japanese.
toxicitizen
IGN gave it a 9.0 That's honestly higher than I expected. Not that I thought the game would be bad or anything like that. I just didn't think it would score that high.
