CorgiShinobi
After work tonight, I'll be facing the final stage. I guess I shouldn't spoil anything, but basically, you won't see it coming. Well, maybe in the ending I'm getting, so maybe there are more things that will totally blow your mind!
Strangelove
Im on level 6 with about 8 hours of playtime. Seems about right. This is the type of game that should be between 8-10 hours. Id say 12, but I dunno. I think thats too much.
「Advent Chaos」
Did anyone find the ice stages relatively easier than the previous stage? Sure I kept sliding and screwing up in the boss, but other than that it felt more forgiving. When I was watching trailers on youtube someone commented with the main spoilers of the story, I looked away as soon as I realized what it was, but the little I read is making some events unsurprising... goddamn it :C
CorgiShinobi
I didn't need any help with Stage 5. The common way of death is forgetting the properties of the ice blocks. Also, this game will probably run you at most 12 hours. Assuming you stick with some of the trial and error of the puzzles, rather than quit and come back another time, it lasts much longer than what "Play Time" says. After all, I'm about to finish with 10:27, but I know it's more likely 13 hours of real time because of the time spent fiddling around with specific portions of blocks at certain floors. Spoiler up ahead, but a perfect example of time spent during Catherine would be: Stage 8 where you must lead your partner to safety. The blocks don't prove to be challenging, but the difficulty is having your partner follow you and setting blocks in a simple path so that they can follow you. CorgiShinobi
Beat it! Freaking final boss battle can suck it! Did a perfect run, though the previous floor I just wanted to finish, so while I was reduced to a Bronze on that floor, I worked it back up to a Silver. One of the floors of the final stage just confused me to hell, so while I first had a Gold, it went south. Still, I got a Silver in the end. I don't want to talk about it too much, but really this game lasted me about 16 hours. The last time I saved it said "13:30," but I know from the times I would but the game down after trying to conquer a puzzle, it added a little more. Oh, and don't forget about the multiple endings and unlockables! Really, worth the $60 if you ask me, even if the occasional (surprise (you'll see later on)) trap block would ruin a perfect ruin, thus causing myself to murmur "fuck" a dozen times. Again, if anyone wants multiple endings, try doing yourself a favor and doing those on Easy.
Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
I feel like if it were priced at $40, I would've immediately picked it up. As it stands, I'm just curious if the story is worth $60, because the block puzzling doesn't look like it's worth that much.
Strangelove
The Block puzzling is very simple to understand, but very deep. Ridiculously deep. There are tons of variables to keep you on your toes. Each level also has a boss battle near the end. Its totally worth 60 bucks. Honestly, Atlus deserves the 60 bucks on principle alone. Making something so weird and original, then making it an actually good game on top of that. Its great.

Strangelove
By the way, I did about 14 hours. I playe dit on normal for about 8 hours, then switched it to easy for the rest. It also has 8 different endings.
CorgiShinobi
In hindsight, I really like the very last floor boss in the game. The previous floor's boss was a cheap bastard who would destroy valuable blocks multiple times. Undo would rectify that ordeal, but it was so tedious to have to protect your block structure. However, the final boss, while difficult at first, turned into a mad dash to the end with cursed blocks as the only obstacle. I'll have to look up how to get all the different endings because I'm pretty sure that the True Lovers ending (which I got) is max Order while True Cheaters ending is max Freedom. Strangelove
Im not going to lie: I tried to keep both girls. I think the ending was very appropriate.
「Advent Chaos」
Goddamn you guys! Clocking in about 16 hours, just finished Part one of the Final Stage The Emporioum So far I've made it there on Normal without using "Undo". I'm at wits end, perhaps another day will clear my mind. Seeing how things are going I'm most likely going to get the same ending as Atomsk. Two questions though! Have you guys spotted Teddy? So.... about Erica, what do you guys know? Seeing how things are going I'm most likely going to get the same ending as Atomsk. Two questions though! Have you guys spotted Teddy? So.... about Erica, what do you guys know? You know, there's no shame in using Undo. I was wrong about it hindering your chances for a Gold. In fact, if you don't use Undo during the last few floors, you'll become frustrated. Seriously, I felt my brain melt from the lack of progress I was making once. The key to getting a Gold is reaching a certain point/coin range. For the most part, doing a Perfect climb of the floor's puzzle will get you a Gold. However, that means once you've figured out the entire puzzle, you'll have to start at the beginning to have the maximum step combo. As I said though, "for the most part." You'll also have to collect most of the coin piles littered across the floor's puzzle. If you're sure you're going to receive the True Lovers ending like I did, you'll learn everything about Erica. Truthfully, once you know, all the hints throughout the game become obvious.
CorgiShinobi
Alright, I finally found a good description on how to earn each ending. http://www.ign.com/wikis/catherine/Endings So even if you have Extreme Blue or Extreme Pink, depending on how you answer the Stage 9 questions is what determines the variation (Bad, Normal, True). The Freedom endings don't sound that difficult now since all you have to do is act like a dick to everyone. What I suggest is playing the game again, but create a separate save file for when you're at the Stray Sheep before heading to Stage 9. I did that my first time so I could go back and earn Gold trophies for all the stages and play Rapunzel.
「Advent Chaos」
The deed is done, I made Mutton my bitch. I heeded your advice atomsk and finally decided to use Undos to at least buy me some time. Well! That was a refreshing experience! I've never been one for puzzle genres since I'm terrible at em (Tetris makes me cry), but Catherine felt great somehow, and it wasn't just the art style, the gameplay itself was ridiculously rewarding. I didn't learn much about Erica other than the heavy hints, I guess I wanted things to just be blurted out :< Let's begin the spoiler talk! So how was your run Atomsk? I don't understand what I did wrong (probably the 9th day), but I was only able to save stuck up rich boy I don't even like him. I wanted to save the journalist and the pretty boy, but all of a sudden "This is the slow news day channel here to tell you that you suck and didn't save the following people: EVERYONE" Pretty boy and cop, I only saw them once and that was it :[ So yeah even with the spoiler from the jerk on youtube it was still an enjoyable surprise. I knew Boss was "The Man of Legend", but I never expected him to be what he is. Always thought he was hidin' "sheep eyes", but the ones he has are pretty cool. CorgiShinobi
Well... You've got to talk with everyone when they walk into the Stray Sheep, and I'm pretty sure you've got to talk to them on the Landings as well. That's how I became the "Everyday Hero." Perhaps it's also the responses, but I think it's more like what the text from Midnight Venus said: "If you don't talk with the customers each night, they won't return and talk more." Something along those lines. Now, if you got the True Lover ending, you would have seen Toby complain to Erica about how she use to be called "Eric" back in high school with Vincent and the others. Basically, Erica is a transsexual. That's why Jonny and Orlando act disturbed when Toby talks about his love for Erica. Also, why Vincent will make remarks about Erica's womanhood. it's why Toby wants his "V-Card" back; he lost it to a man with a pseudo-vagina. Oh and don't forget how Erica began to have the nightmares too. I was beginning to suspect that Katherine had some unintentional involvement along with all the women who believed they were being cheated upon. Never would I have guess it was Boss. Like I've told other people though, while it's looks random it actually makes sense. Like, I never forgot how Boss actually had talked to Catherine. I found it odd though that Vincent never showed any pictures of Catherine to Orlando. Perhaps that would have revealed to Vincent that it was all an illusion too early. Actually, it wasn't all an illusion. While most of it was, Catherine still was real. She did flush that toilet in his apartment that once, and in the Cheater endings he ends up with her. One can't exactly be that far along in an "illusion." Edited August 3, 2011 by Atomsk88
「Advent Chaos」
Aaargh! [The following are heavy spoilers about one of the endings of Catherine, view at your own risk] Well this blows :[ It seems I didn't get that "True Lovers" ending then! Most likely because of the people I didn't save. It's funny though, like I said, the cop and pretty boy only showed up once and made short conversations ("Talk" was in grey) I was trying to balance talking to my journalist friend and rich boy, but as soon as I was done talking to rich boy he up and left! As far as my ending goes, it's pretty much Orlando telling Katherine to show up at Stray Sheep, when it's only her and Vincent. He explains it was all an illusion (well played Vincent!) she doesn't believe him, then Johnny and Orlando show up to back him up and then a Beaten up "Boss" also shows and does one of those "off-screen explanations". Katherine starts crying all confused, Vincent apologizes since the cheating was real in his heart and just like that proposes. Katherine says she'll consider it, but we all know it's gonna end well. After that an animated cutscene of them two on the bed talking about who to invite to the wedding and it's all cute lovey-dovey stuff, afterwards a short still image montage of how they go shopping (Vincent's whipped yo) and celebrate afterwards at Stray Sheep with the guys. Riveting stuff :[

Riveting stuff :[ The ending is dependent on the final questions of Stage 9. Looking at IGN's guide, it sounds like you got the Normal/Good Katherine ending (not True). That said, you must have answered "Yes" to Question 3 as that is the only difference between the two endings' requirements.
rainetemplar
Last night, after fourteen hours, I finally finished Catherine. I got the True Lovers ending. It was fitting for the choices I made throughout the game, so I'm happy about that. Right now I'm just racing through Stage 9 again, just changing my answers. This time around it's easier too, because I know my way around the stages a bit. I got the Bad Cheater ending this time. and that didn't really make any sense. I just changed one answer and imo it's not very logical how Vincent ended up choosing for Catherine. Oh well. Onto the next ending. After the third I'm probably going through the game again, this time going for Catherine all the way. I want dirty pictures, yo.
CorgiShinobi
The Bad endings, in my opinion, are the "last minute 180" decisions. Having those could represent that Vincent still isn't sure of his future, and so your relationship isn't going to have the best footing because of the "spur of the moment" thinking. Now the True Cheater ending... it's something else.

Thorgi Duke of Frisbee
Jesus, Rocco has quite the pair. I don't know how they do it, but every skit they do just keeps getting more and more awkward. I love them for it, though. It isn't a Mega64 video unless you're constantly pausing it, going "Did he just do that in public? OHHH GOD NERVOUS BREAKDOWN"

CorgiShinobi
Double Post Glory! So I've got all Gold on Normal, and I'm giving myself the Good Katherine ending too. Gotta say, I went through a lot faster, but at the same time I was getting greedy for the coins. At the end of Stage 9-5, I tried to block-drop to the last pile of coins. I didn't realize it, but I dropped on the wrong side of the block and to my death. Piss me off! I passed the goal simply for some coins and died! Did the boss battle once more, though I'm not sure I did as good as the last time. Still, I easily passed Stage 9-6 and received my Gold. Actually, I'm watching the ending now and hoping I did get a different one. The True and Good endings are similar in the first half... EDIT: Yep, I got the Good Katherine ending. I could technically go for the Bad Catherine, but I need a little break after that headache. Besides, I know I'm not going to be able to Platinum the game. One of the hidden trophies is to get all Gold on Hard mode! Edited August 8, 2011 by Atomsk88
