Atomsk, you can do it mang, believe in the C/Katherine who believes in you.

It's been about 10+ days that I've gone without a PS3, I was itching to do more in Catherine, but I'll wait. In the meanwhile I'll send it to a friend so he can play it. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Catherine, besides an Online "Babel" it could have some much more value if it had some sort of level editor. I can also imagine how many jerks might make unreachable heights though.

Welp, I've started a new save file to see more endings. I'm gonna see what endings I can get with Catherine, anyone recommend a good worthwhile ending? I enjoyed my first run's "Normal Good", but I want something more interesting, more shocking. Enlighten me fellas!

If I had to rank the endings, it would go:

8. Bad Cheater (Worst)

7. Good Freedom

6. Good Cheater

5. Bad Lover

4. Good Lover

3. True Cheater

2. True Freedom

1. True Lover (Best)

To go into detail

8. The Bad Endings in general are the turnaround endings were you contradict your actions with your thoughts. Here, you've been aiming for Katherine, but all of a sudden you want to be with Catherine. It's pathetic and you start to go a bit loopy. So far much that you run out into the street and get hit by a car. You don't die, but you need to go to the hospital.

7. You don't earn anything from this ending. You don't have a girlfriend and you've lost a bet that would net you enough cash to go to space. You've actually screwed over Boss and your favorite drinking spot, The Stray Sheep.

6. This is my opinion, but abandoning your friends to go live in some Underworld dimension as a sex slave doesn't tickle my fancy. I guess Vincent would be happy, but he more so comes off as a hapless tool to Catherine.

5. This is the Bad Lover, so you were gunning for Catherine, but you realized how much Katherine actually meant to you. Obviously you're not going to get her back, but at least you have your friends still and are receiving the needed rest you deserve. Honestly, this is probably the more realistic ending to the cheating scenario. I know a lot of women that wouldn't give a man a second chance after cheating a whole week on her.

4. While you could say Katherine is controlling Vincent as much as Catherine was in the Good Cheater, it's a more typical man-woman relationship. She wants to shop, so he's tagging along carrying the stuff. They hang out with their friends and she's more assertive. Honestly, it's more of Katherine's personality type. If Vincent has merely accepted to live with it, it means he's going to be tolerating rather than become an equal member of the relationship.

3. If you're going to go off to another dimension, might as well become the strongest and baddest one around. Demon concubines and ultimate power.

2. You've actually won the bet and are going off into space. It reminds me of Cowboy Bebop, as far as the setting. It's quite radical compared to the relationship endings.

1. Dude, it's Happily Ever After! Also, ERICA WAS A MAN NAMED ERIC!

Poor Toby.

After a small marathon of Easy I got Normal Cheaters, I'm kinda miffed since I was aiming for True Cheaters >:C

There were some questions earlier that I just couldn't resist answering the truth, which pretty much messed up my karma meter, I got confident thinking I could still max it in chaos, but I was stupid. At least I saved at the 4th day... It's still some ways 'til the end, but screw it I'm going for it!

Also, THANK YOU VERY MUCH Atomsk! That explanation is pretty handy, I'll be using it in my future runs c:

now for a quick word on normal cheaters:

Personally I enjoyed it more than I thought, it was very silly, but after going through so much drama and suspense a comedy-like ending felt nice. Looking forward to True cheaters!

  • 1 year later...
  • 2 weeks later...

Still an amazing game.

Was going through my trophy list and I had an impulse to make a few more plays to get all the endings, though I already know them all (YouTube). It amazes me how, at different times, you can become amazingly skilled at a particular game. Yet, a year or so later you're at square one!

See you're thinking of something a western developer would do for the most part, choices. Japanese usually just want to tell you a story. TELL ME A FABLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

No, telling me a story without choices would have been fine. What bugged me was how they gave me choices but then didn't reflect them at all. It created really bad ludonarrative dissonance. If in every single cutscene Vincent is going to be all

oh Katherine's the only one I love and I never want to be with anyone else

then don't give me the option to act the complete opposite of that when I'm in control. Don't let me, through dialog choices, scream from the rooftops

man Katherine is a fucking bitch and I can't wait to get away from her so I can bone Catherine all night every night

If they don't want to give me choices that's fine, but if they do give me choices then those choices need to be reflected, or at the very least not completely contradicted, when the character is in a cutscene.
