Sequels you want to see! Also what they would fix!

In this thread, we speak about sequels we wish would be made and what we would fix most about them. So not sequels that are coming out already, but rather ones you know won't come out.

Personally, I would love to see a sequel to Star Wars: Republic Commando. One in which you must go back and save Sev and then take part in random missions throughout the Clone Wars (before they sucked).

There are many things I loved about this games and a few I really hated. For one, the squad placement was fine, though no matter what hostility setting your members were set to, they were mostly belligerent. Better squad AI (Somewhat similar to Rainbow Six Vegas' squad AI) would be something more helpful and also allow the developers to pile on more shit to murder you throughout the game.

It'd be nice also to see them have a better use out of their talents. If Fixer goes down, Scorch nor Sev should be able to hack databases. And if they can, they should make it so Fixer is the one who hacks it faster or has some kind of bonus to hacking since that was his main profession. The same goes for bombardment belonging to Scorch and sniping belonging to Sev. One thing I noticed throughout Republic Commando was that most people could do everything. Your squad was supposed to have their own specific talents with you being the Jack of All Trades, yet everyone could do anything. There were many times when Fixer was down for me yet I was able to hack into turrets and all that. It should be made more realistic in the sense that the squad should be harmed if one of their specialists go down.

Most likely they went down to one of the seven weapons given to you throughout the game. I get it, the pistol regens, the rifle is your normal weapon and there's one special weapon held by each race of creatures. I get it.

I really do.

Though in the Star Wars universe, there are literally tons of different weapons available. It'd be nice if the game were to introduce more of a variant of weapons or even something like a custom loadout like the aforementioned Rainbow Six. One where you can customize not only your armor (while keeping your designated squad colors of orange, green, yellow, and red) but your weapons and ammo as well. It'd be a nice touch. Especially to an elite infiltration unit who should have accesses to resources and weapons of every caliber.

The multiplayer was always fine enough to stand on it's own, though what I loved most about the game that was not focused on enough was the camaraderie of the group. There should be more interaction between the characters and more dialogue from them. It's the mix of characters and their personalities that could even make the game for certain people. The best way for me to relate to how they would react with each other is best described by relating them to the Cable-Deadpool team up for their series of novels. We had Cable's serious attitude with the polar opposite of Deadpool. Fixer is a military officer in armor and Scorch is a Ferris Bueller with explosives, with Sev being the Murdock of the group and Boss being Hannibal. It's a team of opposite personalties that work together.

So, yeah. I want a Republic Commando sequel.

What do YOU want?

A couple of years ago I would have said Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Obviously that's actually happening now so I have to think of a different answer. I would have said Sparkster too but THAT got a sequel that was decent but too damn short. Really, I just seem to be on a lucky streak with sequels and retro revivals.

Let's see....

I guess I would say I really wanted a third Chrono game to succeed Chrono Cross. There were rumors for a long time, but it's reached a point where we all have to admit it's probably never going to happen. Cross wasn't a terrible game, but it had too many characters, the battle system wasn't as exciting as it was in Trigger, and the story was a rather cruel middle finger right in the faces of the cast of the first game. I was hoping for a third game to come along and retcon all that, but it doesn't look like it was meant to be. I think the old battle system in Trigger is still pretty fun and impressive even by today's standards, although I'm sure a next-gen version would have to add a few bells and whistles to it. Maybe have different commands for attacks like Mario RPG did so each character feels different.

Mirror's Edge 2.

One of the most creative uses of the first-person perspective that I've played. A lot of people were turned off by the game due to the shooting aspect not being all that great, despite the fact that the game was set-up to push the idea of avoiding gunplay and instead using speed to get past enemies. Either way, I think a sequel is well deserved hopefully setting the game into an open-world, sandbox style game where players can choose between a variety of missions (scouting, trailing, delivery) and routes to complete each. Also an improved hand-to-hand combat system could be implemented. The other major issue I'll agree with was that it was a bit short, so a improving the length of the game would be a huge positive.

I'll second Mirror's Edge 2.

And I think it's silly to complain about the shooting of that game, I went for (and got) the trophy for not shooting anyone. Although, I'll admit out of frustration there was a few time I'd do a takedown, grab the gun, and start blasting people. Then I'd reset the game and pick up from my last save.

And I'll add The Darkness.

I really enjoyed the first one, the story was entertaining, the writing had some great lines, the game was fun, I'd really love to see a sequel.

Alpha Protocol 2 would be be awesome ...

Fix the dumb as rocks AI, past that I would just want them to "expand" on everything. So longer game, more skills, character relationships and dialogue choices carry farther across the game.

Sega already nixed the idea of a sequel, I'm hoping Obsidian will find someway to make it though.

F-Zero. Any system.

I would like them to keep the insane speeds and track designs, and introduce damage models. Machines that are close to blowing up should be on fire and have smoke trails coming out of them. Maybe have a Burnout-like takedown sequence whenever you bash someone into a wall.

Hell, just have Criterion develop the whole thing.

Aren't those both "confirmed" to have sequels in the works?

I know someone at EA said they had a small team working on Mirror's Edge 2.

Though for The Darkness it was kinda weird. If I recall correctly, the game was outed by some comic book people.

Anyway, a sequel that will never happen in a million years but that I'd love to see get made would be Psi-Ops 2.

Goddamned game ended on a cliffhanger  And not a good one either.

It was like they just stopped making the cutscene. All that was missing was a voice over saying "tune in next week for a brand new episode!"

I don't mind a cliffhanger in a game if they have a decent chance of making a sequel. But damnit, end it like a season finale of a TV show, not like a goddamned two-parter that plays mid-season where you just cut in the middle of a scene. /end rant

Baldur's Gate 3. Kind of a played out choice, but yeah. My hopes for as to why Bioware's changing up the formula so much with DA2 is that they plan to release BG3 sometime soon and don't want to have two identical games on the market. Could just be wishful thinking, though.

i want a dark cloud 3 and honestly i'm not sure what i'd want them to fix about it. there were parts i liked better from 1 and parts i liked better form 2 so if level-5 could just read my mind and merge those things together i'd appreciate it.

i want a phantasy star v, a proper, non-online focused sequel to the phantasy star series would make squeal like a little girl

i also want an fftactics2, they can even do this on psp and not a ps3 but i wants it. not the advance or a2 or a3, a real return to an ivalice that isn't overly cutesy and take away those frigging judges.

Obsidian.

They make such ambitious projects and always crash land when they leave the gate.

I had to listen to you for a full month, Obsidian, whoring out this game. "Obsidian has always made great RPG's."

Fucking LIARS.

Oh, so many sequels I'd loved to see.

Valkyria Chronicles (on consoles) -Not sure I'd change much, the concept and gameplay was great, would just want them to further the story with the same characters in place.

Final Fantasy Tactics -Again, the game was beautiful. I guess in 2011, new graphics(duh), more classes, more of a free movement without grids? something like the game I mentioned above.

Just too many to name, truth be told I just want a console FFT sequel.

Christ, this is so true. KotOR2 could have been freaking LEGENDARY if they'd actually finished the goddamn game.

What sequel would I like to see? Zone of the Enders 3 would be favorite. Put it on the PS3, give us a customizable Frame to pilot- and of course it would have to either be Jehuty or have some connection to Jehuty- and give us a huge battlefield, open world-ish without being GTA-like, where there are two sides at war... and we are the third side, the lone mech that is kicking the fuck out of everyone. God I would love that.

Also, make someone other than Kojima choose the character names. I love the man, but... "Dingo Egret"? Are you fucking serious?

I would love a current gen version of ZOE. Those features you listed would be nice, but I'd be happy with just improved graphics, and more new weapons. I enjoyed the plot being quite linear with the optional rescue missions. Some space battles that take place on 3D planes would be awesome, as it annoyed me in DW: Gundam that you could fight in space, but not on an up-and-down axis. That was just dumb.

Fighting in space = disorienting as piss. At least, when it's done accurately. Though DW: Gundam did do it pretty lamely, not that Dynasty Warriors does much of ANYTHING right.

I have no problem with the plot linearity either, I just think it would be interesting to put you in that role. 1 and 2 both had you fighting alongside the underdog, but I think there's real potential in being a side in and of yourself. It would feel pretty crazy badass, tearing through the opposition like that. I don't know, I suppose it occurred to me during ZoE2's huge epic battle, where I found myself thinking, "I would actually be doing better if I was by MYSELF, rather than having to deal with these talentless LEV pilots."

I do love that huge battlefield level. Especially on a second play through with Zero Shift, which is one of my favourite game abilities ever.

i

It would be pretty cool to be a force unto yourself, but I do think that takes away a bit from what ZOE is about. That being said, if it turned out that way, I doubt I'd be truly upset. Also, more transforming LEVs, like Vic Viper.

I wanted PSV so bad too. I hate PSU so much. If they did it now though I guarantee they'd fuck it up.
