TheMightyEthan
20 of 9 Do people still say that? staySICK
20 of 9 Do people still say that? I had to sit there for a few seconds trying to figure out wtf you meant before realizing you were referring to the time. All I could think of was the Borg. When I worked at CC, the store manager was from Boston. I remember having to go to court (yay shoplifters) and while waiting he said something about "quahtah of 4" or something, and when he saw the "wtf you say, east coast?" look on my face he had to explain to me what he meant. Must be a Masshole thing. I wish I was a Masshole.
slithy toves
heh, being a masshole is pretty awesome. it didn't start snowing here until about midnight. in western mass you guys should be getting less than here, so it might not be so bad where you are. also, no pants today. woo! diedan
I like how this almost got turned into another drinking thread. I thought it was for a moment before I saw Metal's post. I may or may not have a tendency to make every thread a drinking thread.

Pics or it didn't happen. It stopped here and I'm waiting on my boss to call me so I can go in. We had a major IT incident so we're pulling different shifts and stuff. If I don't hear from him I'm leaving in like 10 minutes on my own.
slithy toves
still going strong here in central mass. it's actually prolly more snow than they told us we were going to get if you ask me. and to clarify, no work pants today. alas, it's too chilly to go completely pantsless, but they are pj pants. it's actually gotten chilly enough in here that i'm wearing slippers, which is tragic. i mean, if i have to choose footwear slippers are right up there but still, it's no barefeet. Battra92
Well I'm still in jeans and a T-shirt which wouldn't be allowed at work. Even though there was a major catastrophy at work I guess the roads there are still too bad. Gotta love those Berkshires! So my boss told me to take the whole day. Yeah easy for him to tell me to use my vacation days. Oh well ... It's stopped here and it's just plain cold.
TheMightyEthan
i mean, if i have to choose footwear slippers are right up there but still, it's no barefeet. Socks all the way. Course I have bad circulation in my toes, so my feet will be cold even if it's like 80 F in the house.
slithy toves
my feet don't like being imprisoned. i used to do ballet when i was younger, i think this has to do with that somehow.
Commander Shepard
It's been 1-5 degrees Fahrenheit for the past two weeks, and dipping into the minus teens at night. Thankfully the snow has been melting so it's easier to get out of doors.
TheMightyEthan
How has the snow been melting if it's so cold?
Commander Shepard
I suppose "melting" wasn't the right word, more so, the wind has been blowing it away since we normally have winds around 20mph here. I suppose I just typed "melt" since before I moved here, I lived in the South.

I remember my sister had a pair of those shoes with the flat ends you can stand on. It hurts when you are kicked by them! Anyway, I never ended up at work (though I worked from home all day practically) and it's still snowing hard and it's suspect on tomorrow. ~sigh~
slithy toves
toe shoes or pointe shoes they're called. and yes, they hurt when you get kicked by them. they're wooden at the end.

Battra92
To paraphrase the movie "The Endless Summer" on Hawaii's weather, "The air was 70 degrees, the rain was 70 degrees and the ocean was 70 degrees. It was so pleasant it made you sick." We're hoping for Hawaii for the honeymoon but I don't know about flying that far from New York. Enervation
How odd. According to environmental scientists, California just actually got out of a drought. I still haven't noticed anything different.
TheRevanchist
How odd. According to environmental scientists, California just actually got out of a drought. I still haven't noticed anything different. Check the snow pack. The water tables are getting better (check out the resevoir at Pacheco Pass). The rivers and canals all still have water in them right now. Good thing, too, as this will help keep down commodity prices on food, as it's really going through the roof right now. More than half of the nation's nuts, fruits, and veggies come from CA. Then again, we are only known for our nuts and fruits. And some people think we are basically vegetables. Well, hell. :'(

SanaEquiesterer
Here in south-central Ontario, we got hit with a really strong storm two days ago that knocked out the power to some small communities. Some funnel clouds were seen forming and I think one tornado touched down. I was surprised to learn that I live on the fringes of a tornado alley. Having no power for two days really made me realise how ill-prepared people are for emergency situations, or if some sort of apocalyptic event were to happen tomorrow. We're on a well system, so we had no water, ice was selling out in local convenience stores, and a generator couldn't be found in a single hardware store for about a 100 kilometre radius.
