docsfox
So...ummm how much do you agree with here: 1. Heavy Rain 2. Red Dead Redemption 3. Super Mario Galaxy 4. Mass Effect 2 5. Rock Band 3 6. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Fifa 11 8. God of War 3 9. Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty 10. Halo: Reach Now the auther labeled this list as such: "here are the 10 games that most captured my attention this year, whether through technical innovation or sheer thumb-waggling goodness." It's definatly an opinionated list. LINK
Showmeyomoves!
Uncanny... I could have sworn this was the Top 10 Overrated Games thread... Edited December 30, 2010 by Showmeyomoves!

HotChops
It's a decent list. I think most gamers agree that the top games of 2010 were RDR, ME2, Halo and Mario Galaxy. To me, it doesn't matter which order you rank those. I don't own a PS3 so I never played Heavy Rain.
Mudkip3DS
They include FIFA 11 on the list, but no mention of NBA 2K11? Jeez. I agree with RDR and ME2 being on the list, though.
Chewblaha
NBA 2K11 is the best damned sports game ever made. Whether you are interested in sports or not, it should be on every "Best of 2010" list this year. Well FIFA does have a more far reaching appeal than NBA. (If the N n the I don't give that away)

Whether you're interested in basketball or not, this game is a technical achievement for being realistic in it's motions and gameplay. It is a top game of 2010, regardless of how you feel about sports.

It is a top game of 2010, regardless of how you feel about sports. I think there is no "top game regardless of how you feel." It doesn't work like that. Maybe it was one of the best games of the year- I don't deny it, I haven't played it or seen it in action. But this is a list of the ones the author found most interesting- not the "best." Not the official list of what gamers are supposed to like. So you really don't get to tell him what his opinion is. My list would be rather different, but that is, of course, the beauty of the top 10 list- it's entirely subjective.
Outkastprince
Not a bad list, especially since it was his opinion. Overall, I think most of us would change just a few things but the list is pretty solid.

Railroad 2 could be a technical achievement for being realistic in it's motions and gameplay. But it means squat if it's not played by many folks due to limited appeal. Chewblaha
Arrr but it's too good. I've never put up a sports game as game of the year. Never. But this game is so good for being what it is. Where's Vincent, I know he agrees with me.

I really have to disagree with you there, Dean. Why should popularity have ANYTHING to do with the value of a game? That would condemn Psychonauts, Viewtiful Joe and countless other STUNNING titles to the wastes simply because the public never gave them a chance. If Railroad 2 was a mind-blowingly well made game, then who gives a DAMN if no frat boys or soccer moms bought it? Quality is quality. deanb
Because if the person making the 'top games of 2010' list hasn't ever played it how are they to consider it? Thats where popularity helps.

I thought you were saying, "if it doesn't sell well, it's not a good game."
deanb
Yeah, that's what I'm trying to get across. It's the same issue we've had with the PXOD GOTY in that cos we ain't "professional" game journous that get games dumped on us it's just the games we've bought n played ourselves. So they may not be the Greatest overall games of the year. But they were the greatest we'd played. (not helped by some of us using this year to clear backlogs of older games ) Next year looks brighter.
Mister Jack
Heavy Rain makes me scratch my head a bit but I've seen far worse lists.
staySICK
really good list, and I'm with chewie, international appeal or no, NBA 2k11 should top FIFA on that list.
Sindo
Looks good to me. That's not much of an endorsement though. I thought half of those came out last year.
