rainetemplar
I've read up on a couple of articles about the new Tomb Raider, and I must say I'm pretty stoked. I was a fan of the first couple of games, when Tomb Raider was known for it's characteristic platforming, combat, and let's face it - Lara's boobs. But.. the franchise started to go downhill pretty fast. The games didn't renew themselves and both combat and platforming started to feel clunky and messy. Crystal Dynamics obviously noticed this and decided to go a completely different direction. First there was the Tomb Raider spin-off: Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light (which, btw, is a great game in my opinion). Now it's time for a complete reboot of the series. From Gameinformer: "In our world-exclusive cover story, we uncover a brand-new Lara Croft. Rebooting the Tomb Raider franchise through an origin story wasn’t so much a choice as an act of necessity, according to Crystal Dynamics. Drastic measures were needed. To build an entirely fresh Lara – a culturally relevant hero worth of the attention that once came so effortlessly – they must break her first. In this new adventure – simply titled Tomb Raider – a younger and inexperienced Lara Croft must endure both physical and emotional trauma to survive." TheForgetfulBrain
I mean, I'd love for this to be good. I think Crystal Dynamics has been doing good things with the series since they came on board, but I still remember when TR: Underworld hit with concept art and all the details on how innovative the game would be, etc... And it wasn't really. Still, something tells me this will be much better. I want to play the Guardian of Light, but I'm gonna wait till I have a co-op opportunity for that. Mister Jack
I'll be honest, I always felt Lara was a highly overrated and superficial character, and while I do give them credit for trying to take steps to remedy that, they have over a decade of bad impressions to undo in my mind, which gives me some doubts regarding my willingness to play this when it comes out. It would have to be REALLY good. Like Batman Arkham Asylum good.
rainetemplar
I totally agree. I know better than to have high expectations, but still I would love for this to work. People always say how Uncharted is the 'new' Tomb Raider. That's sort of true, but unlike TR, Uncharted does develop and offers great gameplay. I would love to see a new TR game do the same. @Brain: You should totally play Guardian of Light with someone next to you on the couch/whatever. Co-op is really fun, and you need to communicate a lot.

rainetemplar
I got it on PSN. I was really curious and just went along with the singleplayer, which is also enjoyable. Yesterday a friend came by and we decided to play co-op together, it was ridiculiously fun. They have online co-op, but from what I've heard hardly anyone ever plays. RadiantViper
I was super excited for this. Loved Legend, Anniversary, even Underworld. Looks great, sounds like a neat direction for the series, I was totally pumped. Then I heard they're adding multiplayer. For fuck's sakes ... GoL was fine ... it was clearly a spin-off. But I don't want multiplayer anywhere near the core franchise.

Pirandello
The art looks nice, but I want to hear more on the game.
Mr W Phallus
I think there's a load of games magazines doing previews on it this month, so I'd expect some new details pretty soon.

Cyber Rat
I honestly hope the time on the boat before it started sinking and while it is sinking can be played in-game. It would be much more badass than just a cinematic.
Thursday Next
Wary as I am of CG ads... I like the look of this. And the sexy accent...

Cyber Rat
Out of all the reasons one wouldn't take the trailer seriously, that reason would have never crossed my mind...
Hocking
It was the combination of the music, voice over and fog horn at the start that did it. Really looking forward to the game regardless however, GoL is the only part of the franchise I've not yet sank my teeth into.
SomTervo
This is the newest trailer right? Looks fucking good if you ask me.Also, IDK if you guys know this, but the gameplay is a mix between open world and linear (set of branches connecting hubs and open areas) with survival mechanics (eating, drinking, hunting, wound and health management, resource management, and exploration).Read that in an incredible Edge preview. TheMightyEthan
The survival mechanics look awesome. This is the first time I've been interested in a Tomb Raider game since... ever.

Waldorf and Statler
I still think that thanks to today's society, I'll have to prepare my sister/roommate about me playing the game. Hot Heart
Have to say, the game has piqued my interest. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXTCeoxIHR0 Disappointed they didn't get the Rockstar Games voiceover guy...

madbassman39
Looks very action packed. Very Uncharted like in the way it plays, which I'm more than fine with. Hell if they blatantly copied Uncharted with Lara Croft, I'd be OK with that. The only thing I saw that I did not like was the river part, where her arms are flailing around then she grabs her gun or bow or what ever and with plenty of control shots the barriers. It does look great though Edited February 12, 2013 by madbassman39
TheFlyingGerbil
Isn't Uncharted basically an update of Tomb Raider anyway, so it's only fair if they implement a few of the ideas in the reboot.
