A fair few dozen. Like a lot of Europe are still monarchies. France was quite the loner in that regard (We chopped the head off one of ours, had a punk phase, then asked his son to be our king again).

 

Here's the current list; though it's all monarch not just kings (so includes several Queens, sultans and a Pope)

Incidentally Pope/Pontifex is not a title that you can use when booking a ticket for ROH. So he'll just have to wait outside and hope the cardinals tell him if it was good or not.

I was listening to an American podcast. They were reading synonyms for something and got to "whinge" and none had heard the word. They are all people I would expect to have a wide vocabulary. It's a commonplace word over hear and would be very surprised if an adult didn't know it. Is it not common over in the USA or is it just an anomaly they'd not heard the word?
