TheMightyEthan
Mine's an Android so I don't know what the derogatory name is for that. Also, I have never heard "iTampon" before, and I'm not sure I get it. I mean "Crackberry" sure, it's a play on words and the addictiveness of "smart" devices, but "iTampon"...? Think about it for a minute.
TheMightyEthan
Oh, okay, that makes sense. I was trying to connect it to iPhone and getting nowhere...
Luftwaffles
I've always preferred MaxiPad to "iTampon", but whatever. Seems easiest to just call it an iPad.

TheMightyEthan
Interesting, though I don't think the article really supports the headline (surprise surprise).
Thursday Next
@Ethan, you've turned the cynicism up to 11 today. Good show.
Battra92
You kids and your posting from phones. Call me when your Crackberry or iTampon has an IBM Model M keyboard. *Ring Ring. Ring Ring* Nice, though a bit impractical. Be nice if there was a straight adapter that plugged into the cable port in the back.
TheMightyEthan
lol, is there any way that a Model M for a phone could ever be practical?
Battra92
lol, is there any way that a Model M for a phone could ever be practical? No, but for me, I've never found a smartphone to be practical. Hey I can post/twitter/facebook whatever from my phone! Whee! My phone makes phone calls. That's really all I need it to do. So ... avast ye maties?
Faiblesse Des Sens
I use my smartphone to remember me what I have to do, to have my calender always on me, to navigate to various places, and to see my bank account. Just off the top, those are some pretty damn useful things.
TheMightyEthan
I got a smartphone so that I could sync up with my work's calendar and email system, but I also use it for navigation, etc (yes twitter too), but the only time I use it for web browsing is if I want to look something up really fast or I'm REALLY bored and I'm somewhere where I don't have access to a computer with internet access. It's not very practical for everyday use, but it's sure convenient sometimes.
Johnny
Is this the smartphone thread? I have a confession to make: I pirate games in order to be able to change the shortcut name on steam to something funny.

Strangelove
I got a $15 iTunes giftcard from my aunt for Christmas in the mail today. I pirate all my music and apps, so Im going to sell it to a friend tomorrow. Pirating rocks so hard sometimes. Honestly, besides my morality being fucked up and occasionally feeling bad about it, I cant think of a single negative thing on the pc and app game pirating I do. It doesnt have drawbacks compared to legally purchasing something. I can get the entire game, install it to my pc, i can patch it, I can get the dlc. Just everything for free. Im not denied a thing. I suppose if you game online then it would suck. Luckily I dont play online.

Cyber Rat
Thought this might warrant reading again, since it was almost a year ago since Dean linked it in this thread (and we keep going in circles anyway): http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/issues/issue_94/525-Playground-Piracy
Johnny
It has come to my attention that some people may have not understood that my statement about pirating games in order to change the name of them on steam was what we call a joke. To clarify: it was a joke. An act of ridiculous self-parody. Not meant to be taken seriously.

Cyber Rat
People knew it was a joke, they just didn't think it was funny. Deal with it.
Johnny
I'm glad we're civil enough so that we tell people to shut up every time they make a joke we don't laugh at.
Cyber Rat
Because nobody ever laughed at a joke you made, but rather always judged you and told you to shut up? Because after 47 pages, nobody even suspected you might have been a pirate? And because after the Witcher 2 statement, people are finding it harder to take you seriously in this thread? Plus, that whole joke was "I have nothing to say, lemme make a funny unrelated to anything that has been said here."
Johnny
I'm sorry, but what? That nobody ever laughs at my jokes is obviously not true. I may not be the best jokester ever, but I had several people laugh at the very joke I made on the previous page. Furthermore, I've been pretty open about me being a pirate, and my reasons for being such. And seriously, the Witcher 2 thing? Take that stick out of your ass. No, I do not like to support companies that do what CDPR is doing. I don't see why that is relevant to anything but that very discussion. Why are you bringing it up again?
