deanb
The series finale "film" poster. Incidentally this was how my "oh yes" was meant to be read on the last post.
TCP
I don't know how I feel about the Doctor's name being revealed. The mystery of the character is part of the appeal. Also what name could they ever give him that'd ever live up to the anticipation?!AND! If literally no one else knows what your name is, and you're universally known as "Doctor", than isn't that really your name?
deanb
Just bear with me on this logic: as it's the title of the episode, I don't think we're going to find out what his gallifreyan name is. If anything it'll be whispered to River Song, who incidentally will probably be the last time we see her given she's now a Professor of Archaeology, and Doctor showed off his "Red setting" on the screwdriver last week. It's more a set-up for her end than giving his name.
TCP
Easily my favourite episode since the show returned.

TCP
That whole thing with the monster being separated from his love in another universe parallels The Doctor and Rose, yes?
deanb
...just substantially prettier looking. But yeah certainly a good one compared to the past few.

Seems a weird topic, but there will certainly be avid collectors out there.

deanb
There's many times where I'm bored of all the homemade Doctor Who cakes, outfits, etc in the Doctor Who subreddit, but then interesting snippets like this crop up now and then. deanb
Pretty good last night, but not as good as Doctor's Wife. Also I missed little bits here and there due to having to watch it on the dodgy TV. http://untempered-schism-insta.tumblr.com/post/50255139345/so-did-anyone-else-get-their-pre-order-early In other news it seems that next weeks Who might be out on the web somepoint. Saturnine Tenshi
I don't like Clara.
TCP
I like Clara. Besides Craig of course*, she's my favourite companion in years... since Martha at least. (And don't take me for an Amelia hater, cause I liked her too). Current theory: Clara is the 12th Doctor. She's just lost her memories. And is showing up in random time periods because.. wibbly wobbley timey whimey. Which means the 50th anniversary episode will be THE THREE DOCTORS. *Also where the hell is the Craig episode this season!?!
deanb
You like Craig? She can't be Doctor's 12th. For one she's died and been turned into a dalek so far, which regeneration doesn't quite get around (especially into the same person). Also kinda fucks up any future episodes. Also on 50th anniversary It more than likely is three doctors, but John Hurt as the extra doctor. Though whether as the Valeyard, or the true 9th Doctor (The pre-Eccleston regeneration that fought in the Time war, making Matt 12th Doctor), or an alternate 9th that appeared through the Time War, is yet to be seen. He is "an aspect of the doctor" though. And certainly wears the clothes to fit.
deanb
Well that kinda confirmed the rumour then. I like how they go around not having to give his name, though it didn't really fit with the "silence will fall" bit of prophecy (unless they fall in the battleground), but obviously fit well with the "fall of the doctor" if it's where he dies. I did like his tomb and the time stream scar thing. Though "Great Intelligence" is never really fully explained and/or relation to the Whispermen. Now to wait 6 months to 23rd November. TCP
Everything about that episode was great. The opening sequence, River and The Doctor's goodbye, the ending, and John Hurt's titles sequence. So he's the true 9th Doctor who ended the timewar? That was the impression I got, though some people seem to have interpreted it as an incarnation of The Doctor before he took up the mantle of "The Doctor", so before William Hartnell. I even saw some people thinking he was a future Doctor but that doesn't seem possible. But if he is a "forgotten regeneration" between 8th and 9th, a flashback regeneration scene in the 50th is probably how Moffat wanted to bring back Christopher Eccleston. At least that would have been the easy way. Unless they wanted to have the Doctor crossing his own timestream all willy nilly. Regardless, staying just Tennant/Smith/Hurt as "The Three Doctors" will probably work just fine, anything more could get too big for one episode. EDIT: Also, I guess we know who/what the Doctor saw in The God Complex. "Of course... who else?". So we never found out who gave Clara the Doctor's phone number... it was a woman from a shop, which kind of makes you think it'd be Rose, but how would Rose, if she was already in her original dimension, know to give Clara the number? Also, didn't The Doctor recently say that the TARDIS chose him? I think it was in the episode where the TARDIS became a woman. Am I the only one who doesn't care about Jenny/Vastra/Strax?Lastly: I really hope we don't have to wait till the second half of 2014 to get the next season. I really hope they can do some quick turnaround and get back to airing Who in the spring. Edited May 19, 2013 by The Cowboy Poet
toxicitizen
I fell behind after a couple of episodes and just started catching up. Watched the submarine one and the haunted house one. This season is kinda shit so far...
TCP
Yeah but it has the best finale I've seen since Moffat took over. Asylum of the Daleks, The Angels Take Manhatten, The Bells of Saint John, and The Doctor's Name were the best episodes. The rest of the season was ho-hum and had a lot of filler. toxicitizen
Well, glad to hear at least the finale is good. Watching Journey to the Center of the Tardis atm. It's alright compared to the last two but that's not saying much.
toxicitizen
Well, watched the finale. It was good and definitely the best episode of the second half of the season (the Neil Gaiman one was pretty good, too), but I disagree that it was the best finale. It wasn't as good as the whole Pandorica thing. This entire season's arc was just bad, imho. The previous finales had great build-up to them with the cracks in the universe that showed up throughout series 5 and then the whole Silence thing was infinitely more interesting. Half a season was simply not enough to properly develop this whole Clara thing. Pretty curious about that ending, though. Looking forward to see where that goes. TCP
1) Can we have the same rules as the GoT thread? Basically, if it's already aired, it's not spoilers? 2) So are we going to have to retroactively refer to Tennant as the 11th Doctor? And Matt Smith as a the 12th?
