deanb
Yeah most of our tabloids are pretty naf. When you're wanting news on something like this you want one of the specialist outlets really or BBC themselves. http://imgur.com/a/Tb2VM/layout/blog - British actors crossing over between Doctor Who, HP and GoT. This is pretty much too long mind.
TCP
Buzzfeed compiled "35 easter eggs" some I noticed, some I didn't! I didn't notice Ian Chesterton's name on the school, which is pretty cool, it would have been nice to see him there since he was a companion from the first episode. I saw the actor in some of the interview's leading up to the 50th and he looks reasonably healthy, maybe he can appear if Clara keeps teaching there. deanb
26 and 31 are a bit of a stretch. Especially considering the two different writers. And YANA was quite clearly explained as The Master.
TCP
Our local theatre showed The Day of the Doctor today... so it was sort of like Two Days After The Day of the Doctor. Regardless, I was very impressed with my small town, the place was sold out, lots of people were dressed up, two girls came in dressed as weeping angels and they got a standing ovation, plus people got excited when I came in wearing my Tom Baker scarf. The best part though, was watching it with the crowd, lots of laughing, applauding, and some squeals of excitement when you know who made his very brief appearance and the other you know who had his chat with Matt Smith at the end. It was definitely a different experience than just watching it at home. The 3D looked alright, as far as 3D goes, and there was a funny message from Strax and another one from 10 and 11 before the episode started, plus a nice behind the scenes feature at the end. toxicitizen
Just finished watching. It was pretty good, although a bit slow in the middle. But man, I'm gonna miss Smith.

deanb
I thought it wrapped up a few ends quite well, though I guess if you'd not been paying too close attention then it'd be very confusing ( as it was to my aunt). The change was very sudden but I guess it gets it over an done with. Pretty sure he said "new set" too, so that gets around stuff for the next 50 years and means he doesn't even have to find Gallifrey to sort that one out. Settled a few debates regarding Meta-crisis doctor and War Doctor too.
toxicitizen
Yeah, that was also my understanding. New regeneration cycle and not just the one time. Also, google tells me Meta-crisis Doctor is the Tennant clone that went in the alternate universe with Rose? What kind of debate was there about him? Was the line that mentions one of them regenerating but keeping the same face about him? Come to think of it, I don't even remember how he came to be... deanb
Dalek shot hit in the shoulder, he started regenerating but poured the rest of the energy into his hand (which grew up to become the meta-crisis doctor) while stopping himself from fully regenerating and just using the healing effect. It had been wondered if it counted as a full regeneration or not, since he didn't regenerate. Same with the War Doctor since that was a forced artificial one with the elixirs. But Xmas episode he was exceedingly explicit on his personal count of there being 11 doctors but using up his full 12 regeneration's. It has always been known more could be bestowed though since Master by Simmons time was on at least his third set.
toxicitizen
Oh, right. Yeah, I guess I can see how that might confuse the count. I heard about the Time Lords being able to hand out more regens but only like, yesterday. So I didn't know that was a possibility before watching the special. If I had, I'd have probably seen it coming a mile away. Especially after the 50th.
deanb
Bloody hell they needed to put something next to these for scale. I thought it was an alternate casing for the Daleks. It's a dalek assault craft, with daleks riding it. It's like 10 times bigger than it looks in the show. http://gfycat.com/EdiblePlayfulKiwi
toxicitizen
Ha, yeah, those looked way smaller in the episode. Thought they were like... probe-sized. Also came across this.
deanb
Yeah, episode was filmed on an old army base and since dead tanks are a PITA to move, they whacked a Dalek whisk and plunger on it so folks with sharp eyes would go "cool, Dalek Tank" rather than "why is there a British army tank on Trenzalore?" toxicitizen
You know, I was kind of hoping they'd write Clara off. Cute but such a boring character.
deanb
She can still be written off midway through. Bit like the Ponds.
TCP
I like Clara. I might like Clara more than Amy and Rory. I thought her and Matt had great chemistry together. Plus she's beautiful. So beautiful. Seriously. I mean, c'mon.
TheFlyingGerbil
She still feels like she's in her introductory period to me. I'm sure something more exciting must be in store for her linked to her jumping into the doctor's timestream thingy to save him throughout his history. E.g couldn't she meet other versions of herself? incidentally what's the spoiler rule in here? I'm guess most people will know what I just wrote there. Saturnine Tenshi
She's probably my least favorite thus far. Not very interesting at all.
TCP
I will now rank the modern era companions:1. Clara2. Amy3. Martha4. Donna5. Rose

TCP
Kind of plain, but definitely in line of the 10th and 11th costumes.
TheFlyingGerbil
I don't know if I'm imagining it but it looks a bit low in the crotch. Other than that I like it - I assume he's going to be a bit less zany character-wise so it makes sense that the outfit looks a bit smarter, though I think it needs a quirk as if you put that on a mannequin it just looks like a normal outfit, I don't think you would be able to tell it's a Doctor's outfit. I like that they look less ridiculous than they used to but they need something to make them stand out as something an alien trying to dress human is wearing
