Doctor Who

So is Neilhimself going to be doing anymore episodes of Doctor Who in the future. That one had some pretty great moments, really wrapped up some canon neatly and greatly. And was all around pretty nice except for the Ood dying :(
Also we want to start a tally up on how many times Rory dies. He's "died" 3 times this series already. We're only 4 episodes in and one was a two parter.

Except as I saw in reply to that theory elsewhere: The doctor already knows of that, but he needs to know that snippet of info in the future.

Also of note: Amy Pond. Pond is water too.

Yea, but river was specifically mentioned. Not a pond, which makes me think that River will probably be popping up again in the next episode or so.

It's 'The only water in the forest is the river' btw. I don't now if Enerv just forgot to type that when he originally quoted it, but it makes it much more ambiguous whether it refers to River Song or not. Of course Rory could have misheard or it could just be vagueness typical of prophesies in fiction. Did we ever find out Rory's surname? Looked it up, it's Williams so I doubt its symbolic. And I'm presuming Amy still goes by her maiden name, otherwise Dean's water connection loses some of its significance.

Great episode, really can't wait for the next. Matt Smith is turning out be a wicked Doctor, he just keeps getting better.

Agree with Dean about water, Pond and River. The episode where River is left in the data core of the Library is called "Forest of the Dead", that can't be a coincidence. She's the only watery name in that Forest, the space suit is also reeeeeaaaaally reminiscent of the Library space suits and there's talk of the space suit in the impossible astronaut being able to move without a body, so...

For some reason the Doctor needs to die. River is the one that has to do it, she seems to know that killing him while he is regenerating is how you kill a Time Lord properly. But she is dead / doesn't exist yet / is otherwise indisposed, so somehow she is downloaded from the Library into the space suit and kills the Doctor. Just have no idea why that would happen...

This one is pretty good. I'm liking it. They're kinda scary. Didn't realise it was a two-parter.

I assume the two foot thick stone walls will prove no issue for Acid, and that a TARDIS in an acid pool will prove no issue for a Flesh doctor.

Loving the Northerner bit :P

btw anyone noticed that there hasn't been a single inkling of an older monster yet. He said we wouldn't, then last season got the Daleks for an episode (and a bit of Cybermen n everything else for the finale) but up to now he seems to be sticking to his promise this series.

Yeh I hope they don't have Obligatory Dalek Episode and Obligatory Cybermen Episode this series. Not that I'd be annoyed if they turned up because they actually had a good story-related reason to be there, but it's rubbish when they're just shoe-horned in.

This episode was OK, but considering its the last episode we'll see it was a bit underwhelming. And it ended on a bloody cliffhanger.

I wonder when we're going to find out about the woman in the prison/asylum hatch thingy. Its interesting how much less subtle the series arc is this series. Compared to say the Bad Wolf graffiti which was like, 'Oh wow, I hadn't even noticed that.

So last weeks' Ood doesn't count? :P

It isn't the last one; it's on again next Saturday. :)

I was referring to the Rapture. Just trying to lighten up the end of the world. Unfortunately the end of the world wasn't real and the joke wasn't very funny. <_<

At least it's the end of people saying it's the end of the world. I swear social networks are just an exercise in crowd sourced stupidity. If it could be weaponised it would be deadly.

The Flesh was pretty good. Didn't really buy the whole "I'm the leader so I'm going to kill the Flesh" bit. It was a bit contrived imho. Everything was cool and people were getting along. There was no build up of tension, like there was with say, "The Hungry Earth"/"Cold Blood" it was just, "everyone is getting on and now we need to split the factions" a bit of deus ex machina and boom, conflict.

I also don't buy that JenniferFlesh would just turn on the humans when she has obviously forged a strong bond with Rory. If these people are supposed to be the same as their Flesh counterparts, then it makes more sense that the leader chick of the flesh would be the one to strike back.

Yeah the inanimate acid has more scare in it than "the flesh". So unless it turns out that The Flesh is wanting to kill everything then I don't see why their clones would.

Maybe the next episode will explain that.

I like the idea, and maybe The Fles h could have been worked into a more realistic threat, but yeah "you zapped one, now we hate you" is a bit iffy.

Like the hating humans thing is a Flesh idea that is overriding the gangers' minds? Otherwise, yeah, I'm really not buying "Human leader acted like a dick, so all humans must die even the one I fell for, who has not done anything but be kind."

Surprised they missed out on an opportunity to kill a FleshRory, maybe they're saving it for this weekend? :D

Also, what do you think the chances are that FleshDoctor will last another ~200 years and can regenerate? Would be a tidy way to tie up the start of the season, but given how early he's been introduced (and the fact that I can envision a trip to an acid bath in his imminent future) I doubt it.

I think it's a shame the "BadWolf" subtlety has been lost. The Crack in the wall and the Drums were a bit telegraphed too (the Crack more-so as the meaning/purpose of the Drums kept changing), but this woman in the hatch thing is just so in your face, I wish they'd gone a different way with it, put it in the background so that you aren't really aware of it. I wonder, could she be the girl with "Time-Head" looking in on Amy from a cloaked Tardis?

oh talking of killing a flesh rory:

Yeah I've seen the theory of FleshDoctor being the 1,100 year old doctor, but I'm thinking a trip through acidic mud to the TARDIS is in store for him.

To be fair Bad Wolf wasn't exactly subtle, just at the time we weren't looking for anything like that. But yeah the hatch woman is a bit obvious and then there's the death of the doctor, Time Girl and Silence Will Fall. All overly in your face, but tbh it is a kids show, some stuff might not be so obvious to kids. Like Venice going quiet. As long as how it all wraps up in the end is satisfying then it's good.

How come you don't like River Song?

I can't put my finger on it. Maybe because they are hinting that the Doctor and her get married later on (which in itself isn't horrible as he already had a granddaughter for crying out loud) but there's something that just makes me gag whenever her curly mop head shows up on the screen.

Here's next weeks. First of a two parter. Part 2 is in August.
(A fair few have pointed out the military symbol is an Omega. Omega was a big bad Timelord of old. And he was banished to the anti-universe, so the timelock wouldn't effect him. Also the first time it popped up was the soldiers from the one with the Byzantium n weeping angels.)

As for todays, I think the Jen-monster was a bit out of the blue. Eyes were kinda creepy. I'm just...overall a bit meh. They killed a guy which I didn't expect. I actually thought(though it turned out to just be jen) that all the "real people" were gangers too. So they got that. No dead Flesh Rory either. They're gonna have to do some backtracking on the point where Amy was made flesh(between 1 n 2). Also there was some stuff on the end on why he took them there, but I didn't quite catch it. Anyone care to explain.
