deanb
So it's going to be coming back next week. Also who has been watching the new Torchwood? DO NOT WATCH THIS CLIP UNLESS YOU HAVE SEEN A GOOD MAN GOES TO WAR This is one of the Part 2 trailers.
deanb
And cos I can supposedly only post 2 at a time. "What's a marrow?" And a "Lets Kill Hitler" preview clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYaf6RFO2g8 With new jacket too. And new companion.
Mr W Phallus
"What's a marrow?" D'aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawfap. I guess they're too exotic for Scotland. Also, I'd show her my stuffed marrow ifyouknowwhatImean OI OI. (shoot me)
Mr W Phallus
Wooooooo. Well there were some really good moments (River's first appearance, the Doctor's costume change) then there were some less really good moments (the antibodies: 'You are unauthorised. We are going to kill you. It is normal to feel scared. This helps fill the time as we slowly move towards you. You'd better watch out. Any minute now. Here it comes. Wait for it...') Still definitely more enjoyable that not, but not as good a opener as the start of this series.
deanb
So I guess now it's a case of filling in the gaps of what Melody has been doing from being kidnapped at birth to being "Mel" with being an astronaut in the middle. Mr W Phallus
Well talk about spoilers. What confuses me is how River will still be in the series when she already stated their time-lines go in the opposite direction, so we should only see Mel (and pre-Mel Melody) from this point on if we're still following the Doctor, right? Unless we skip ahead til after she said that and she meets him after that point. Hmm. The actress who plays Mel didn't seem that great, so I hope she's not going to replace Alex Kingston from this point on. deanb
Right I've spoiler-tagged both. Sorry I'm working on the assumption folks have seen at least up to last episode. I agree "Mel" was shitty. Also I don't see the idea that they meet in the opposite direction being set in stone.
Mr W Phallus
Yeh I can't imagine them being too bothered about playing fast and loose with canon, especially if it means keeping such a good character in. Which reminds me: Why can't the Doctor just regenerate when he is poisoned? Edited August 27, 2011 by Mr W Phallus
Waldorf and Statler
I've been catching up with Doctor Who. I still need to enter the Matt Smith Doctor Who. I'm really liking David Tennant's Doctor Who, is Matt Smith any good?
Mr W Phallus
Brilliant, I'd say, although he does have the benefit of a brilliant supporting cast and having Moffat at the helm. The Matt Smith tenure is great anyway, so go ahead and look forward to watching it.

Mr W Phallus
Ah I see. Yeh I'm not all that well versed on Whovian lore, wasn't sure if I was missing something from tat episode/series or what. Thanks for clearing it up.
deanb
Doctor Who eh? Not posted the last few weeks. Had the one with the little boy in the flats, the one with older Amy and this weekend had the one with the hotel. The one with the kid was just creepy for the dolls. Didn't really do much for me though. The older Amy one was good as a character building episode for Rory n Amy. Also it has Professor Umbridge in it and supposedly one of the smallest cast lists of any Dr Who episode. Given by now Amy should be pretty well versed in how Time n Space works I can't believe she both fell for the Doctors deceit and not realise that it wasn't too big a deal to be wiped out of time n space. (especially when most of that time was alone and fighting) The God Complex was pretty good though, also David Walliams too. Doctor is obviosly learning not to let his companions get too close this time around. Nice ending though I have a feeling it's not the last we'll see of them. Also I'm pretty sure we all know who was in the Doctors door.
deanb
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LN6LBteGmA So the james cordon one was a bit :/ Cutesy n such, and had the forboding for the next episode, but "killed by love" was a bit bleurgh. The baby talk stuff was kinda neat. The laser sonic screwdriver effects were very nononono.Still, stetson, 4(5) envelopes, it's all lining up,

Thursday Next
Great end to the series. Can't wait till Christmas. Are there any teasers up yet?
deanb
Not yet. I don't think any will be popping out until closer to December/late November.
deanb
So got bored: First Doctor: 103 Second: 91 Third: 93 Fourth: 77 Fifth: 60 Sixth: 68 Seventh: 68 Eight: 51 Ninth: 47 Tenth: 40 Eleventh: 28 Apart from two slight blips, though it's being consistent for the latter half, he's being getting younger not older. I knew the recent three were definite but McGann was young and so long ago so wasn't sure could stretch to four, but it was close call. The series has being running for 48 years. Fuck that's a damn long time. Whoever said "wait, let's kill him off, but have him come back as a different actor. Put it down as some alien thing.. regeneration or something" was one of the greatest TV minds of all time. Creating both a sound explanation that fits with the show and in indefinitely extending the life of the show far beyond anything else.
