TCP
Am I the only one having problems with the forum not reloading after posting, editing, liking, etc? I'll write a post, the green bar will come up at the top of the page, and my post will say it's saved, but then nothing happens, the page doesn't reload with my post added on. I have to refresh the page to confirm everything got posted. This is happening on both my home computer and work computer.
deanb
Yes you're not the only one, there's apparently some Apache issues. Servers been rebooted recently, but since it's come back/continuing, there will be a server move which should fix the issue.
TheMightyEthan
It was working properly for a little while yesterday, but it seems to have stopped again. *Edit* - Of course it works properly on the post where I mention it not working properly... deanb
Well today is monday and I haven't actually given the nod on doing the server move yet so anything seemingly fixing itself is likely anomalous.

Yeah the only time it's worked for me in the past few weeks is when I posted about the error in the first place!
TheFlyingGerbil
I can't load the forum from Opera Next. I get the message: Site Temporarily UnavailableWe apologize for the inconvenience. Please contact the webmaster/ tech support immediately to have them rectify this. error id: "bad_httpd_conf" seems to work fine in my other browsers
TheRevanchist
I had this problem over the last few days on and off on various browsers. It is sporadic for me.
TheFlyingGerbil
ah. Cool, I didn't want it to be Opera - I've been using it a while now and it's improved quite a lot since I last gave it a go and I don't want to ditch it again
deanb
It should theoretically have only been an issue on Friday, if you've had it before then I'm not sure what it would be. But basically as mentioned earlier with the Apache thing, on Friday the forum (well, everything) got shifted over. This changed the DNS which should only take 4 hours to propagate, it's likely if you visited the forum in that time your browser has cached the "bad_httpd_conf" version, in which case a hard refresh/clearing cache should sort it out. Especially if it's only happening in a particular browser but loads fine elsewhere, since the initial error is caused by your ISP refreshing their DNS. If it happens across multiple browsers for you still at this point then you'll maybe want to get in touch with your ISP since they apparently really slow at refreshing their DNS records.
TheFlyingGerbil
urg, all I did was press [F5] and it loaded fine.

Eleven
How do I get back the side bar (status, release calendar)? I accidentally closed it.
deanb
Errr.... I don't know. Oh wait, I tested it out Incognito. There's an arrow where the cross was (just under the quick navigation button)
SomTervo
Is there any way to see status conversations on Tapatalk? I find it really useful but by god. No statuses. Half the fun gone
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, if there is I'd like to know too.
TCP
This forum without status updates is a dark and lonely place.
TheFlyingGerbil
You can't see them on the mobile site either - it takes you to persons profile when you click on an update.
deanb
On Tapatalk, it's not a feature it supports. As for mobile, the new forum version (due..soon I guess) is responsive so does the whole comments on statuses stuff (I just had a nosy on the preview site to check)
Mister Jack
Sometimes when I'm trying to post multiple pictures I'll get an error saying I'm not allowed to use "this extension" on this forum. Exactly what file extension does this place not support?
deanb
Links without any file extension are usually the ones that cause issues. For example the Steam screenshots the URLs tend to not have an image extension on the URL, which trips up the embedding tool. Other than that is supports pretty much all the bog standard jpg, gif, png, bmp, svg n fair few others for images.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, if it tells you that look carefully at the picture's link, if it doesn't end in ".jpg", ".png", etc then that's your problem.
TCP
Why are some users "anonymous" and how do I become anonymous?

TheFlyingGerbil
If you log out, there is a log in anonymously option when you click to log back in. I log in anonymously so it's not as obvious how often I lurk around here. I just pray the mods can't see it!
deanb
Sign in, tick the "Anonymous" box. I'll be honest it sometimes does it for me, sometimes doesn't. I'm not sure why but I think it's a browser thing (depending on where I browse from depends if I show up as anonymous) As for Gerbil: Nah, we don't see shit
