Mal
Consider the following... Load up a previous page and post til we get to a new page. And the page does load but it's lower than 56k. Edited February 28, 2015 by MaliciousH

TheMightyEthan
Well now I know what kind of media it is that breaks my tabs: whatever that spinning thing that Hot Heart posted in the Weird and Wonderful Web thread is.
deanb
.gifv (which is Webm, a 5MB webm video to be exact-ish) edit: It's potentially a Chrome problem. Will probably (maybe) go away in a future update.
Mister Jack
I thought the whole point of webm was to load faster and better?
Mal
I feel that the quality of webms varies a lot. Same goes for other html5 stuff. Some could have audio or it may not. These file format haven't matured yet.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Quality is just like anything else: It's up to the person who originated the content to maintain quality. There's zero point in webm if you destroy the quality like gif does. A big advantage of webm is how much better at compression than gif so you can get much higher quality content, and more of it, for the size of a gif. TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I've played other webms just fine, so I imagine it's something to do with the specific ones that are causing problems, not the format itself.
TheMightyEthan
Okay, yeah, it's definitely Chrome, cause I just tested with Firefox and it works fine. It's weird, cause Chrome used to be okay with those.
TheFlyingGerbil
chrome has more compatibility issues than any other browser I use/have used. If I want something to definitely work IE is still my safest bet.
Mal
Chrome has been eating shit lately. A day or two ago it had trouble loading up anything related to Google. Firefox and everything else were fine. And you'd expect Chrome to be able to play ball with webm and other HTML5 files. Fuck, it is the main reason I switched on over with Youtube limiting 60fps playback to Chrome.
TheMightyEthan
How do you embed a gifv? I tried doing it through the img code and it just gives me a broken link.
Strangelove
You're a mod and you don't know that? For shame. I'll say good day to you, sir.
deanb
gifv is basically MP4, it's a video format. Means it uses the video/media embed (aka the Youtube button). I'm kinda hoping the V4 software will be a bit more intelligent in handling them (currently it's a third party solution to embed them)

Eleven
Did we use to have themes? I swear I remember having a theme selector but I can't find it.

deanb
Though don't get too comfy, the new forum software (which really should be out by now) has redone the whole theme stuff (mainly stripping down the billion n one CSS files n what nots needed) which means previous stuff unlikely to work.
