Mister Jack
Another immigrant from Old Country. Most people have at least one game they're fond of, yet either the critics ripped it to shreds or the gaming public calls it a disappointment. Sometimes both. Well this is the thread for you to say "Nay! This game was good and I don't care what you people think!" So which underdogs are you fond of? Hot Heart
Prototype! ...and, because it's actually quite a similar game, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows. Prototype had a dumbass story and characters (as do a lot of games) but I found the actual gameplay pretty fun (in short bursts). There were actually a few missions where you had a bit of leeway for how you could achieve things and I thought that was pretty cool considering a lot of sandbox games rarely nail that. By no means, a great game but it was pretty good. Same sort of thing for Web of Shadows, really, except it had some funny writing. I felt it really captured the feeling of being Spider-Man, and the combat was loads better than in the previous sandbox games. I had a lot of fun with it. TheForgetfulBrain
I rather cared for the Last Remnant, but aside from at least one other person I saw posting about that game on this forum, I seemed to be pretty much alone in that opinion. Prototype! ...and, because it's actually quite a similar game, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows. By no means, a great game but it was pretty good. I liked Prototype too. It didn't look like a game I'd enjoy when there was all the pre-launch buzz and I figured Infamous, which seemed similar, would pretty much blow it out of the water. But eventually I got interested at the insistence of a friend, and found it cheap on a Steam sale. Ran at a silky 60fps on my computer, eliminating the console complaints about frame rate, and I enjoyed what I played of it. deanb
I liked Last Remnant too. But I stopped playing cos controls on PC were garbage. I now have a 260 pad and yet to play through again, but that's same with most games. One day... one day.
Hot Heart
I figured Infamous, which seemed similar, would pretty much blow it out of the water. Funny thing is, inFamous is quite different. I think I had higher hopes for inFamous but that was to do with the setting and story. I mean, they were better, but it wasn't quite as 'fun' as Prototype. I think I'd unfairly built up inFamous to be something like 'No Man's Land' from the Batman comics, and there'd be some sort of 'rebuilding society' and stuff going on. At least something more than mostly zapping dudes in weird gangs. Still good fun, yet I never felt like the ultimate badass that the videos showed (or how Prototype played). deanb
Prototype was more visceral. InFamous was just more...better.

Mister Jack
I liked Ghostbusters. I don't care what the haters say, that game was fun. Hell, I even liked the multi. Busting ghosts with my friends was great.
Hot Heart
Having briefly played the Wii version of Ghostbusters at Christmas (well, mostly watching my sisters play it) it actually seemed alright. Graphics were just soooo terrible though. I wouldn't usually grumble about graphics, but this made it hard to figure out what was going on. Zuzela
I've never tested the waters for this, because I'm too scared of the possible backlash that could occur, but...Eternal Sonata. But only for Chopin's character, his voice and the interesting excerpts of his music along with details of his life between chapters. That girl who tagged along with him needed a kick in the face, though. Grr. Also, Enslaved. But not because other people hated it, because I absolutely love it and totally overlook all of its flaws. Pure love.

Also, Transformers: War for Cybertron. The versus is average but the co-op is great.
TheForgetfulBrain
Black Ops. It's so overrated it's been underrated again.
Mr. GOH!
I love Dwarf Fortress. I dunno if other people hate it as much as they are frightened and confused by it.
TheMightyEthan
I am certainly frightened and confused by it. I've tried to play it before, but quit when I realize I don't know how to do anything. At all.

At all. This. I don't think much of anybody hates DF but it just so hard to get started at all. I really need to find time, again and again, to really get to know that game. Little Pirate
I used to play DBZ fighting games like crazy. I just love fighting games of any kind. I also love the King's Quest series.
BrainHurtBoy...2
I liked Shadow the Hedgehog, especially the whole branching paths thing. I played that game a few times through and had good fun with it. Also, Divinity II. People beat up on that game, but it's really great. Especially if you play Dragon Knight Saga over Ego Draconis, it made a ton of improvements.

diedan
Not universally reviled, but I loved Muramasa The Demon Blade. People who thought the battle system was repetitive need to just play it on a harder setting! It's great! Also, I liked Madworld. Didn't love it, but I had a fun time playing through it.
