Am I the only one who thinks PC gaming is possibly doing better than every except in terms of an "industry" perspective? It's easier to develop and release games these days. Indie titles are better than they've ever been. There just isn't any money in it for the big guys except Valve.

To me it's like the music industry dying. I really don't give a shit if the big companies all go away as independent work will still exist. Work that's untainted by a board of executives and the quest for a dollar.

The music industry isn't dying. Small bands with intense fandoms can support themselves, though the lifestyle is not glamorous. Big record companies and singers can make a shitload of money with crap songs that chart well. And anyone can make money off of licensing fees for use of songs in shows, ads or movies.

PC gaming is dying, on the other hand, because consoles are so fucking excellent and devoid of any problems whatsoever.

If anything Steam has breathed new life back into PC gaming. It's never been cheaper or easier just like Dean said. People like to talk about how simple and elegant Macs are but buying, installing, updating and playing games on your PC has never been simpler than steam.

Steam is just Xbox Live or the PSN without the totally tubular features of those two services.

...and it's cheaper and you don't have to subscribe or pay any kind of fee and it's not run by the forces of evil.

You don't, like, know for sure Sony is evil and that Valve isn't, man. I mean, c'mon; the teasing yet vaporware-esque status of Episode 3 is a crime against humanity, or at least that portion of humanity who really dig the Half-Life games.

Thread moved for trolling purposes. Carry on.

*Sigh* That wasn't my intention at all. I thought others would join in on the sarcastic "PC gaming is dead because [insert spurious reason that actually demonstrates PC gaming's continued vitality]", but I suppose I was, uh, too subtle or something.

Some people just can't appreciate your humor like the rest of us, Mr. GOH!

Still, I was just as perplexed as to where this might go (PC Gaming or Playground... I see that it ended up in Playground).

It's cool that it's been moved; I just didn't want people thinking I was seriously trying to troll.

I started up a less sarcastic replacement thread. I guess folks around here just aren't familiar enough with my ardent PC fanboyism to realize that the whole thread was a joke from the start.

I think it's your avatar that made the whole thing serious.

Hell, I'm reading your sighs while glancin' at Kennedy and I'm not very lighthearted all of a sudden.

It's Playboy Kennedy with Real Smoking Cigarillo Action, not Cuban Missile Crisis President Kennedy with Real Concerned Eeyebrows Action. That's lighthearted, isn't it?
