Strangelove
From what I played, Neon is the best when youre "good", but video is better when youre "evil." If youre evil, slowmo aim is locked out, so that changes the game up quite a bit for people who rely on it. Like I did. But when youre evil, the upgrades for the video power make it seriously powerful and fast. I also feel people didnt give the "invisibility" skill a fair shot when they played Second Son. Its a damn good skill if you upgrade it fully and know how to use it.
TheMightyEthan
I never noticed any frame dipping either. It's not that the framerate dips per se, it's that it changes at all, so it doesn't feel smooth. Constant 30 fps feels smoother than a framerate that's fluctuating between 30-40 fps. I wish there was a way you could easily combine the two, although they're vastly different, but for me: NEON ALL THE WAY.
Thursday Next
On my "Good" playthrough. Started by clearing out the districts before doing any missions on the first island so I am fully sharded up. Having just unlocked and upgraded Neon on expert, yeah, this is going to be a breeeeeeeeeeeeeze.
Thursday Next
My first PS4 platinum. Yay! Anyone else loving the Papertrail DLC? I'm really enjoying the ARG element of it.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I love going through all the other sites and collecting the documents and solving the puzzles and stuff.
Chronixal
I have no idea how it works. Started the first mission, got the clues on the website..now what?
TheMightyEthan
Look for URLs on any of the clues, and try visiting them. Most of the game part of Paper Trail takes place on the website, not on the PS4.
staySICK
paper trail part two isn't showing up on my map yet, odd. Photo mode is a blast to play with.
deanb
I see you posting these pictures all over my twitter feed and goddamit is it a pretty looking game. But I must be strong.
TCP
Give in, Dean, give in!!!
Strangelove
Well, as much as I do like the Paper Trails missions, I gave up on the 5th one. They redo the most annoying puzzle ever but instead of numbers now they use symbols. Fuck that.
TheMightyEthan
That one's easy, you've already done it once before.
Thursday Next
Yup. Whether it's numbers or symbols makes no difference, since in this case, numbers are symbols. In fact, everything is just symbols really. It's just that we don't have ready translations for things like phi and the dollar sign. But that's going off into a very different topic. I love how many people struggled with the Unix file structure "hacking" "puzzle". I'm over thirty, that's not a hacking or a puzzle, that's how we used to use computers! Damned whipper-snappers. Just one more to go now. Roll on Friday! (Hope they announce more DLC, I want MOAR POWAHS!
TheMightyEthan
People struggled with the command line thing? I might call it tedious, but it was not difficult.
Thursday Next
Yeah they did: http://uk.ign.com/wikis/infamous-second-son/Infamous_Paper_Trail_Part_5_Full_Walkthrough (obviously this will spoil the fun of solving the DLC ARG puzzles if you read it. e.g. "Guest • 2 days ago exactly I know the feeling I finaly got passed the safe I am stuck on this part as well.Come on suckerpunch this is stupid we are not hackers we do not understand computer language we are gamers. Also the thing is I want to give up and try again later on but that means I have to redo the safe cracking again the file in the safe should log in to your profile and always be the same for that person" In other news, I *hate* with a passion that only a nazi can understand *anyone* who voices a complaint in the above form. "We are not hackers", "we do not understand computer language". You are not me, you are not elected to speak for "us", therefore you don't get to say "we" when you mean "I"... Gaaaaagh! Chronixal
Yeah but the whole Paper Trail thing is pretty fucking lame. Why drag me away from the game when I want to, you know, play the game?
TheMightyEthan
The whole Paper Trail thing is awesome you mean. The ARG aspects are really cool, and a neat little change up in the game.
Chronixal
Paper Trail has quite literally turned me away from the game. I was going to do end game stuff and maybe do an evil run but the ARG stuff is so tedious, it's been unplayed since.
TheMightyEthan
So just don't do Paper Trail. It's really really minor in the whole scheme of the game.
Thursday Next
Yup. Personally, the ARG elements are what turn this from a really minor "Follow the waypoint -> Do the thing -> Hear the audio clip" bit of content to something much more innovative and fun. It expands the universe and gives back story in a way that would have been impossible to do in game and the ARG puzzles are challenging in a different way to the usual "throw bigger, badder mobs at you" scale that games normally rely on.
Strangelove
Yeah, if you lack patience I wouldn't bother with Paper Trails. This whole thing works if you do the missions as they come out, but running through all the missions like I did? It exhausting going back and for between my Mac and my PS4. It feels like a hassle. I like the idea of it, but it has to be spread out. Otherwise youll start noticing how repetitive it is.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I've been doing them as they come out, so it's a nice little 1 to 1.5 hour thing once a week. Like a TV show.
Thursday Next
Well, that's second son done and dusted. Hope they announce some dlc at some point, but I doubt they will. Edited April 28, 2014 by Thursday Next
