MetalCaveman
Why not, let me copy this and then paste: Also, Pheer, or anyone, I'm having problems with my internet connection, basically, through my router I can connect with my PC and my 360, but my PS3 and my dad's PC won't, PS3 says attempt to obtain IP address timed out and PC will say invalid IP address. Any help with this? Thanks!
Swordfyre
My laptop keeps decreasing in performance. I used to be able to max out a lot of games but I've had to lower a lot of settings.
Pheermee
@Metal Are your PS3 and Dads pc set to automatically obtain an IP address? And is your network set up for DHCP?

Mr W Phallus
Pheer my laptop has been really sluggish recently. Strangely this doesn't seem to effect how games run (except maybe loading times) but everything else runs really slowly, especially opening programs and switching between programs. On a possibly related note is it normal for Google Chrome to have a lot of chrome.exe processes running? For example I have 12 running now, and I had 14 running earlier today. I only noticed the laptop running slowly after downloading Chrome fairly recently, so not sure if there's a connection there.
Pheermee
Chrome like to build another process of itself for every extension or add on. I believe It also does it for tabs currently open. Thats how you can have just the one tab crash and not the whole browser. If your PC is having issues with Chrome, prolly best you didnt use it. King Jimmeh
I have recently installed Ubuntu 10.10 on my old PC to run all my media from. I have installed and run the latest version of Samba and set my Network workgroup to just be "Workgroup". I have setup folders on both machines to shared, and the Ubuntu PC (UbuntuJim) can find and copy files from the Vista laptop (Jim-LaptopM), but cannot edit anything. On the other hand, while the Vista Laptop can "see" the Ubuntu PC, whenever I attempt to connect I get the following error: "UbuntuJim" Is Not Set Up To Establish a Connection on Port "File and printer sharing (SMB)" with this computer. I am a bit new at using Ubuntu and Linux, so it may be a simply error I've overlooked.
c hoertjes
So my hard drive took a dump. I can login to my computer but once everything starts to load the screen goes black and it shuts off. However, if I boot in safe mode, it will load just fine. Any ideas? staySICK
best case scenario, format, reinstall windows. not quite worst case scenario - buy a new hard drive, install windows. worst worst case scenario buy a new laptop
c hoertjes
In safe mode can I get my data off the hard drive? Also, I'm not sure if I still have my Windows CD. =\
Faiblesse Des Sens
Yes you can. You could use use a linux boot disc to accomplish much the same.
deanb
Yeah I always have a Linux LiveCD for such occasions. Just pop it in and override any issues with Windows. Awesomeness on a small plastic disc.
Mr. GOH!
Should I be concerned that my laptop just cold shut down without any warning while I was playing Just Cause 2 on it? No blue screen, no beeps, no nothing; it was similar to what happens on a desktop if the plug were to be pulled out of the wall socket. Faiblesse Des Sens
Overheat perhaps?
Mr. GOH!
Overheat perhaps? Could be, though I thought most systems beep as a warning. Out of fear, I did stop overclocking the CPU when I play Just Cause 2.
c hoertjes
Okay, I've gotten Windows to fully load this time. I still got the warning about "imminent disk failure." But I guess that means it isn't a Windows issue or anything, it's likely just hardware? EDIT: Okay, I did a system restore to a few days ago. I still got the warning at startup about disk failure. FML.
Mister Jack
Pheer, I'm having trouble getting Windows 7 64-bit to recognize the dualshock, even with MotionInJoy. Any tips?
deanb
Pheer, I'm having trouble getting Windows 7 64-bit to recognize the dualshock, even with MotionInJoy. Any tips? Have you being through their FAQ? I've not followed it closely or tried it for a while since I got the 360 pad but last I looked he had a post up about finally shelling out for digital signing certificate so it should now work on 64-Bit Win7/Vista (for the longest time it was 32-bit only due to 64-bit needing the digital signing to install hardware/drivers) How are you connecting it? It doesn't work on all bluetooth adapters.
Mister Jack
Oh really? It has a certificate now? When was this?
deanb
October: http://www.motioninjoy.com/ When was the last time you visited the site? Have you not got upgraded installers?
Mister Jack
It was before October. I think I could be forgiven for not expecting the guy to shell out the kind of money that is needed to get certified.
deanb
Yeah my first move in trying to get it working would of been to go to the site and check for any updates. You want to give them a spin? Report back (Since I'm somewhat interested in DS3 working on 64-bit windows)
