So what platform do you stake your flag in?

Sure as a gamer you're meant to love all platforms equally but if that was the case Segas hardware division wouldn't of gone under.

Oh and yeah you can only pick one. Why would I give you multiple choice? It'd be as lame as telling you to pick your favourite parent n giving you multiple choice. So yeah, one only.

Also try to keep somewhat civil discussion. Some people may think your console of choice sucks. Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, their opinion, man.

If I was still in 6th grade, I'd pick Nintendo, and truth be told I like their exclusives a lot, and they still give me the most joy (Metroid, Pokemon, Zelda); but they don't release too often, and as I age, I want more. So I went with Sony. I fell in love with Sly Cooper, and Jak and dexter, among others, and FF. So by rule of majority, Sony wins.

Without Nintendo I wouldn't have gone into gaming. There will always be a soft spot in my heart because of the Game Boy. Truth be told it's the one console I willingly spend money on. Need a second controller? Sure. A component cable for the HDTV? Why not!

I have a PS3, but I'm always hesitant to get something for it. Still have one controller even with a few multi games. Really there's just the Blu-ray remote, but I've got all kinds of controllers for my Wii. Heck, my favorite series are of Nintendo origin, though I do enjoy others as well.

Really tough one. My first ever console, owned by me, was a Gameboy my parents got me when I was 4 or so. That was amazing. But after that, save handhelds, I never once owned a Nintendo console. I moved onto the PlayStation, and was devout to that and the PS2, which I've spent the most time on and still absolutely adore- and the PS3 is really great too, it's exclusives are unmatchable.

But I've also had an incredible time with my Xbox and Xbox 360- Xbox Live was far superior than the old PSN Adaptor for PS2 (which I still loved), and I still have friends from my old Ghost Recon 2 clan. I also love the XBLA, it's one of my favourite things in the world at the moment. This is ridiculously tough.

I'll probably have to say Sony, seeing as I've enjoyed countless games on the PS1, PS2, and PS3, and I think Sony are far more revolutionary than Microsoft for the gaming world.

I know I love my reliable computer even though it is getting old.

I don't have a current gen console, but my brother that lives with me here has a Wii and Xbox360. I think I prefer the Wii because our 360 red-ringed and had all sorts of problems with it from the beginning.

We had an SNES, Playstation 1 and Gamecube growing up along with a few iterations of the Gameboy.

I really don't have a side nowadays. After I discovered that having every platform available in the market is the best thing ever I just can't prefer one brand (my avatar actually represents this, there are four colors and each one represents a different side). I have favorite genres of gaming, though (impossible not to have them).

But I stopped being a fanboy because it didn't bring anything good to me. I was a mindless Sega fanboy when I was really young and then, for a good chunk of the PS2 era, I was a stupid Sony fanboy and I badmouthed the Gamecube and talked a lot of shit about the Xbox controller. After the 7th generation I started seeing all the good and the bad things in every platform.

For example, my favorite controller from this era is 360, and also the favorite interface (with online and stuff). My favorite platformers are on Wii and my favorite console to play fighters is the PS3. Currently my favorite motion "controller" is Kinect (because of it's novelty and stuff), but I also have Move and the Wii (I have a lot of Wii games but only one Move game, gotta get more).

So, nowadays I would say I really can't choose, but back in the day I was a Sega fanboy and they were responsible for making me love games (I started with Atari though). Sony was responsible for making me like more mature kinds of games, the PC was responsible for making me like FPS's, Microsoft was responsible for making me love online gaming and Nintendo was responsible for making me a Mario maniac (after being a Sega fanboy, go figure) and open my mind and start seeing that every platform has it's charm (and its faults).

I'm still a strong fan of Sega (not fanboy) and I like the fact that they are still releasing games for every platform (after the DC's demise, it's better than nothing, I guess). Sorry Dean, but I can't really choose one ;)

PS3 is the tops, for me. I had a fling or two with the 360, played around with the Gears of War games, some Halo, but to me, Uncharted, Resistance and Killzone (among many, many others), are just superior. Meanwhile the 360 is FORCING you to pay $60 a year just to play with your friends. I'll admit, Xbox Live does have cross-game chat, but other than that, I can't see a single advantage the PS3 doesn't have.

But PCs are the best. There's really no disputing that.

Xbox 360.

I've owned a lot of systems, but I haven't loved one this much since the SNES. Microsoft just gets me. They seem to cater heavily to my demographic, which is great because -- I'm sorry -- I'm soooo sick of Japanese developed games. Don't get me wrong. I grew up with nothing but Japanese games, systems and anime, but now that the west has a strong offering I just can't go back.

Final Fantasy XIII, Bayonetta, Resident Evil 5, Lost Planet -- I play ten minutes of them and I want to throw the disc out the window. I could go the rest of my life without J-pop, whiney teenage voice actors, gratuitous kung fu or swordplay, bassackwards controls, and what I detect to be a preachy writing.

I haven't been very happy with Microsoft lately though. They don't seem very interested in my demographic these days. They got my money, now they want the CC numbers of my mom and my sister in law.

Sony. Ive owned every console they ever made. I really think the PS1 changed gaming forever. Not to rag on pc games or SNES rpgs, but the PS1 was that first step into film-like quality and production and I loved it. Still do.

FF7, Gran Turismo, Resident Evil, just a lot of games catered more to someone like me. It just opened things up drastically. For my money, the PS1 was when gaming wasnt just for kids anymore. I Know a lot of people view maturity as gore and violence, but theres other kinds of examples of real maturity that came out of that console. I enjoyed stuff like Parasite Eve and Fear Effect for their storytelling and cinematography more than their gore and sexuality. Nintendo and Sega never filled that void that was missing in gaming til Sony stepped in.

I picked PC, though if you'd asked me a month or two ago I would have said 360.

People always say Sony has the best exclusives, and while I can acknowledge intellectually that that's probably true, I'm just not really interested in most of them.

Now I've got a PC capable of playing new games again, and so I'm shifting back that direction.

I gotta say, if I didn't already have a 360 and shitload of XBL friends, I would consider getting a high powered PC, hook it up to my living room TV, buy a 360-PC controller and Steam the crap out of some games. Steam has had hella great prices lately.

see, if it weren't for the fact that most of my friends are on xbl, and I already have a 360, I'd be sorely tempted to forgo the 360, since most of the exclusives are also on PC, minus things like Halo.

As for my vote, I went for Sony.

I don't understand the appeal of hooking a PC up to a TV. 23 inch monitor that I sit 2.5 feet away from beats out a 50 inch TV that I sit 10-15 feet from. I even have my 360 and PS3 hooked up to a monitor instead of a TV, though that is partly so I'm not always hogging the TV.

I do love how standardized 360 pad support has gotten for certain kinds of games though. For FPS or RTS give me a kb/m, but for games like Batman: Arkham Asylum or racing games I'll take a pad any day.

Maybe there should be a stipulation that picking the PC means you can't emulate any console games unless you're playing an actual PC port. Not saying that's what anyone's been doing so far, it's just something that occurred to me.

Well not really. For one no one's suggested it, but secondly, that's a nice advantage of the PC platform. If you start including silly 'stipulations' like that it's just gonna start a whole load of bollocks :P

Faiblesse doesn't have a nice chair.

What's eye strain got to do with a couch? Surrounds sound is equally easy to set up between the two as well. In fact cos PC gaming is primarily single player it can be set up perfectly for PC use, no need to try n balance it between a room of folks sitting about.

As for a decent chair, you're upright n focused on the game. You're in..the zone.

If you feel you're too close then.... move back? Most chairs have wheels too. Awesome invention.

As for chairs, for me I feel that being in an upright position just helps me with gaming as much as it helps me with work.

If you feel better by sprawling across the couch then that's up to you.

A desk is only so big. The further you move away from the monitor (away from your usual point) is going to be less comfortable.

I'm making the point that on the couch you can do both. And you don't have to hunch down over a keyboard. A controller moves up and down and wherever you want it to. A keyboard does not. Your argument is essentially that stationary= better.
