Games You've Beat in 2011

Personally I'm not expecting to add much to here until...Mid-may onwards.

All I have lined up for me right now, as far as 2011 goes, is Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 3, and maybe Portal 2. I enjoyed Portal, but it was one of those one-and-done games. I played it once, enjoyed it, didn't touch it again. I'm not sure a sequel will even do the original justice.

Completed God of War II a few days ago.

And I just completed the first Force Unleashed about an hour ago.

It's... just... man... what a fucking shitty game.

It probably looked awesome on paper, but every single important aspect was executed poorly.

It's like whoever was in charge never made sure that the various aspects of the game worked well together.

Level design was atrocious. I stopped counting how often I fell to my death because either a] it wasn't clear that the ground ahead wasn't meant to be walked on and I just started sliding towards a cliff, b] I just fell while fighting because there were no invisible walls in a very small area where I was fighting strong enemies or c] I was just swarmed by enemies and when hit, the character's animation caused me to fall off a cliff.

There was some fun to be had with the combat system, but it was nowhere near as polished as other games (like God of War, for example).

Plus, it really, really sucked how the enemies didn't get sliced up when hit by a lightsaber. I mean, what the hell?!

At least the story was pretty good. That's the only aspect I really can't complain about.

You liked that shitmess of a "hey lets just take the star wars universe and fuck it in the ass with lots of violence" story? I don't even like star wars and thought the story was shite.

Well if you don't like Star Wars then it's no surprise you didn't enjoy the story of a Star Wars game...

But regardless, I'm not saying it was like, better than Empire Strikes Back or anything. It was just enjoyable.

I had more fun watching this story unfold than the mess they call the prequels.

Mind you, I'm not the kind of crazy fanboy who goes around reading every expanded universe novel he can find, so I have no idea if this contradicts stuff that was already established or not, but I enjoyed seeing how the Rebel Alliance came to be.

I just finished Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass. Not the best Zelda game but fun nonetheless.

Despite the lack of challenge I found it fun and engrossing. I thought they did a decent job of using the DS's quirks like the mic etc without making it seem too tacked on. Except the closing the DS puzzle. I had to cheat on that. :(
