Hot Heart
The reason I mention Unforgiven is because RDR is aiming to be a revisionist western. Not that it entirely succeeds but that explains a lot of the 'tone' of the game. I'd agree gameplay-wise with regards to the ending, but really I never found any of the gameplay stuff particularly outstanding in the first place. It was a nice cyclical approach though and I felt that worked; shifting from the violence to...slightly less violence.
Yantelope
I thought that the ending was pretty much perfect. I was very curious to figure out where they were going with it. Probably they spent slightly too long with the farm but it seemed like a good build up to what many saw as the inevitable end. Also, dean, the game ends after you've finished the stranger mission in blackwater.

TheMightyEthan
I thought RDR's ending was perfect too. Another thing we can agree on, Yante! Of course, I liked herding cows and stuff, and was disappointed that you couldn't do that kind of thing throughout most of the game. But yeah, Dean, that's like the way practically every Western ends (not counting what I'd call the "epilogue").
Hot Heart
But yeah, Dean, that's like the way practically every Western ends (not counting what I'd call the "epilogue"). Not really. High Noon isn't like The Searchers. There are varying types of Western. It appears Dean was expecting a more classical western whereas RDR is more revisionist...with copious amounts of action thrown in.
RockyRan
Beat Assassin's Creed 1 yesterday. Such a weird game. Games are usually either consistently good all around or consistently shitty, but Assassin's Creed is fantastic as an engine and really shitty as a game. It's obvious they spent 90% of their budget just on the engine, which shows because the engine itself is phenomenal. It's when you actually try to play the game and realize it has like 3 hours of content tops that it really kills the whole experience. Overall, I'd rate it a cool 5 (with 5 being "average". None of this "7 is average" bullshit). There's really good stuff in there mixed in with really bad crap. Still, though, the experience is so inconsistent that I'm hesitant to give it a single number (even though I did anyway ). Sometimes it's an 8 game and sometimes it's a 2, depending entirely on what exactly you're doing. Up next, I wanna finish the Reach campaign. After that I don't know. Go back to ModNation Racers I guess. That game is awesome and far superior to Mario Kart (OMGWAITWHATDIDHEJUSTSAYTHATBURNTHEWITCH)
TheMightyEthan
Play Assassin's Creed II, it fixes almost every single problem that AC1 has. And then Brotherhood fixes all the ones that II missed.
toxicitizen
Portal 2. My original intent was to finish the single-player campaign in one sitting. And the game's early release happened around 12h30 AM in my timezone, so it seemed doable. But I had not considered the fact that I'd been up since about 10 AM that morning, so around 5 AM my brain sort of ceased to function properly. I couldn't think and the simplest tests had me fucking stumped. And it was actually pissing me off quite a bit When it dawned on me that I'd been up for over 20 hours, I just gave up and went to bed. Yep. It's the reason why I went back to finish AC, because I'm clearing the way for AC2, which I've heard is THE SHIT.

Finished Days of Ruin and am now beating level 12 songs on DJ Max Portable 2 on 8 Button Mode. I finished Portal 2 Singleplayer yesterday, and finished up a long campaign in Empire. I'm moving on to Portal 2 co-op now, as well as a replay of BGs 1 and 2, which I'm particularly excited for.

Saturnine Tenshi
@BrainHurtBoy...2: "Baten Kaitos Origins" Yesss! Absolutely love the Baten Kaitos games. One of the best role-playing affairs to come out of that generation.
TheMightyEthan
Oh yeah, beat Portal 2 SP in one sitting (not that that's a huge accomplishment) on Tuesday. Did most of the coop campaign yesterday and plan to finish it up today.
deanb
Portal 2 co-op. Went through it with Bill. Nice ending. Also Nolan North is in Portal
TheMightyEthan
Also Nolan North is in Portal 2 Well yeah. Isn't it a legal requirement that he be in every game ever? I know Australia will refuse a game classification if he isn't credited.
DaveStrife
I've also finished Portal 2 SP, gonna finish the Co-op later with Ethan.

CorgiShinobi
I'm beating myself over the head for not making a Steam account before Portal 2. Basically, there's a PSN outage. Beforehand the "First Time Login" for PS3-Steam account configuration was out, so I haven't received my Portal 2 PC-platform. Otherwise, I would be finishing Portal 2 co-op with my friend tonight. So, only SP campaign has been completed.
FMW
In the year 2011 I have played entirely and completed Ghost Trick and Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations. I have also completed Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey. I had gotten to the final boss in 2010, but I didn't muster up the motivation for those last few hours of grinding until 2011. ...and that's it. 4 months now, and only three games beaten. Two short games and the last few hours of a long one. I'm painfully close to beating Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor also, but Strange Journey satisfied my urge to grind for a while. That one gets to wait in the pile of JRPGs with disproportionately difficult endings along with FF IV DS and DQ VIII.
