Luftwaffles
I'm thinking I need to get into the MP for Brotherhood now, as it just wasn't worth it on my PC launch (torrented) copy. Anybody up for a few games later this week/weekend?
CorgiShinobi
Call of Duty: Black Ops. See, there's a reason why I never bothered with the game. It handles well, etc, and etc. Still, it's one of those games I can't really invest myself in. It didn't help that all the talk about the numbers and the effects were a headache. May it was the story, though I have to give it credit for being a little unique. Anyway, only payed $4 for a rent. I could have possibly sat down in one night, but if I'm going to rent a PS3 game, I'm going to try to get as many trophies as possible before I finish. If it will take a lot of time, or I have to backtrack, it's lost.
deanb
InFamous 2, good ending. I'll put down my thoughts later.
toxicitizen
Finished Oblivion just now. Or rather, I finished the main questline. It was much shorter than I expected. I mean, according to Steam, I have a bit over 40 hours of playtime. But I did a bunch of mage guild stuff and kept getting side-tracked. So less than half that time was spent on the main quest. I'll probably try and finish the mage guild stuff and probably do more random shit, but for all intents and purposes I consider the game "beat". That's a pretty big one to scratch off the Steam backlog. Though, I expected it to keep me busy for another week or two, to be honest. But since I've got another two and a half weeks left before going back to uni, it would probably be a good idea to try and finish New Vegas as well. deanb
Oblivion is about 95% side quests and 5% main questline. I'm hoping Skyrim is about the same.
toxicitizen
I wouldn't mind a longer main quest in Skyrim, to be honest. I'm not saying they should cut on the side stuff, but it'd be cool if they put more thought into the main story. I thought the final part of Oblivion's main quest was quite anticlimatic. Luftwaffles
Finished Fallout: New Vegas NCR Ending today. Reckon I might playthrough for the Wild Card ending next. Probably going to wait on the DLC until the last pieces come out and they get cheap again. Felt like an ass because I speech checked out of the final battle with the Legett. CrowKnow
Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Prince of Persia The Warrior Within How was the transition for you between SoT and Warrior Within? I beat SoT and Forgotten Sands but, couldn't get into Warrior Within. Edited August 15, 2011 by ChrnoXIII
toxicitizen
Fallout: New Vegas I was much closer to the ending than I thought, but I still sunk another 30 or so hours into it before I decided to go for an ending. Wild Card seemed like the best one for me, but I made a whole bunch of backup saves so I could easily reload and go for another one, and I'm really glad I did that and got Wild Card out of the way first. Turns out it wasn't exactly how I anticipated. So, I figured I'd take over the strip from Mr House and remain neutral with the NCR. But then the game sort of automatically made me an enemy of the NCR (even though I saved the life of their fucking president) and for the last mission I was fighting both the Legion and the NCR. It definitely felt like it was a pretty evil way to go about it. But then the ending slides were all "yay, go freedom!", so that was a bit weird. I'll definitely reload one of the backup saves I made and go for the NCR ending now. They seem like a bunch of assholes, but it's obviously what the game considers to be the "good" faction. I mean, you actually gain karma for killing legion soldiers and lose karma when you kill NCR guys. Felt like an ass because I speech checked out of the final battle with the Legett. Oh man, don't feel bad about that. My speech was a bit too low for me to do that, and it was such a huge fucking pain in the ass! Basically the asshole is wearing some kind of magic armor and mask that makes him almost invulnerable to regular guns (my guns skill was at 100 and I could hardly do any damage to him). I was forced to use some prototype laser rifle I'd picked up earlier, but it was still almost impossible. I had no other option but to constantly run from him while shooting and going into VATS whenever I could. But for some reason he was way fucking faster than me and kept catching up. Also, a single hit from his fucking machete took like.. half my damn health. Took me like an hour to beat him, and in the end I had to be cheap and quick-save whenever I managed to get his health down a bit. It was quite the test to both my patience and capacity to contain my rage. Edited August 16, 2011 by FLD
Luftwaffles
Yeah, I'm on my second playthrough and going Wild Card this time. What I liked about the NV factions is that there really isn't one good ending to choose from. Obviously the Legion is the "bad" ending, but siding with the NCR or going Wild Card or Mr. House are all variations of "good", with no one ending leaving New Vegas in perfect condition. And yeah, I reloaded a save and went back to try and kick Lantius's ass and really couldn't do it. My only chance at him was to shoot his machete out of his hands and then go at him and do the ranger takedown over and over again while hitting him on the ground. Pain in the ass. Faiblesse Des Sens
Eh, I'd say you're breaking it down too dualistically. House/wild card seem to be fairly neutral. Using that 4chan scale wild card would be chaotic neutral and house would be chaotic good or some shit. Either way I love how yes, nothing really leaves New Vegas too well off. It's realistic for what they were doing with the game and series.

BrainHurtBoy...2
Bastion, dude. Holy shit, that was good. You owe it to yourselves to go out and play this game. Excellent. One of the best ending sequences in any game I've ever played.
Saturnine Tenshi
Chantelise. From my Steam recommend: "This portmanteau is the very definition of action. Even something so mundane as splashing puddles is accompanied by a super-powerful explosion sound. If crafting dynamite from the offspring of rain — or perhaps a flood, a leaky bucket — doesn't suffice, lechers can still unite. From its humble beginning, there's an onslaught of ass. Satchel-festooned, carmine skirt-wreathed, Zettai Ryouiki fucking schoolgirl ass. That not your thing, you sick fucking slut-shallot? Well, there's also petite fairy girl rear, the portrait of sweet, neverending god damn upskirt honey-hive." To be honest: the gameplay is dated, hackneyed. The narrative is nearly non-existent, and a veritable lullaby. I still enjoyed the game. Conversely, I'm playing FFXIII right now. The same cheerios apply, and I could not be more bored. Strangelove
Silent Hill Origins. It was fun, but I think im too impatient for those kinds of puzzles. I just used Gamefaqs to get through those. Its quite a short game if the puzzles dont take you forever to figure out, which they could. Battra92
I'm 75% through Epic Yarn and decided to play some classic Kirby. I have now beat Kirby's Dreamland 2. While I will say it is better than the first, it is not up to the masterpiece that was the NES's swan song: Kirby's Adventure. Really, KA is perhaps the best Kirby game I ever played. I've probably played it more than any other NES game that doesn't have Mario in the title. So I'm up to 9. I wish I had the kind of time you guys seem to in order to beat more of my games. 2011 Beaten so far: (Mike Tyson's) Punch-Out Bayonetta Thunder and Lightning Gunstar Super Heroes Jamestown Kirby's Dream Land Sexy Parodius Truxton Edited August 29, 2011 by Battra92
Yantelope
I finished Professor Layton and the Curious Village. I missed 4 puzzles. It was a good game but at the risk of being tarred and feathered I will say it was a little over hyped.

It's pretty good, but it could've been truly great if it wasn't so goddamned unstable. I was getting an average of 40 fps when it ran properly, but there were times I'd load a save and would get about 10 fps. Reloading the same save never did anything, so whenever that happened I was forced to load an earlier save (though I later realized than the issue could be fixed by alt-tabbing out and back in). Thankfully the game never overwrites, so there's plenty of older saves to choose from. Of course, once you reach 200+ saves, the loading menu takes a good minute to come up, so that's kind of annoying. And then there's the main area of Chapter III. It never ran at 30 FPS. Usually closer to 20. Thankfully it's mostly conversations and running around when you're there, but still, that's no excuse. From what I read online, it's because there's too many NPCs in that area. Their AI is supposedly very CPU-intensive and the game apparently isn't optimized for multicores so.... yeah Edited August 30, 2011 by FLD

excel_excel
Well basically finished Deadly Premonition, I'm at the epilogue. That was great. Really compelling story and such a weird and wonderful script. The main character is so compelling to get to know and the setting of the game is really unique. The graphics are shoddy, the gameplay is just average, and the music is fantastic but really inappropriate at times. It almost shouldn't work. But it does. So memorable. about the ending. I can't believe Emily died, and in such a violent way. When the game makes you choose to shoot yourself or her or Kaysen I feel it cheated a bit by making you shoot her as the right choice because Zach couldn't shoot her anyway. I guess that was the point that no one answer was right Edited September 2, 2011 by excel_excel
