Great game, slightly less exciting than Uncharted 2, but IMO a much better story and character interaction than before. I liked the harder difficulty (as many others have mentioned, you have to make use of all of your skills) but I didn't like the lack of puzzles. Not enough pressing select and scratching my head. Yeah, I'm liking the increased difficulty for the most part. Currently on Chapter 18 or 19. As for the puzzles, do you mean you wish there were more or that they had been harder? They weren't about simply following instructions but they weren't incredibly obscure brain teasers. You do get a small sense of accomplishment from beating them without any help. Having said that, it could've done with the verbal clues taking a little longer to kick in, although I guess they want to keep the game moving. EDIT: And now I have finished Uncharted 3. I decided to write a mini-review, but it turned out much longer than I planned. I don't spoil any big plot points, but I do discuss the impacts each elements of the story have and how I felt about them so I'll put it in a spoiler tag just in case. Reveal hidden contents Basically, it's a great game and is tons of fun like Brotherhood, but the story largely feels like filler. The Altaïr sections definitely steal the show. There are some truly great moments in them. The only complaint I have is that they're all fairly short. What's weird is, they are clearly the most interesting aspect of the storyline, but they almost feel like a side-mission because collecting the Masyaf keys that unlock them is pretty much the equivalent of the "find five _____" dungeons from ACII and Brotherhood that unlocked the Altaïr and Brutus armors, respectively. Then there's the Desmond sections, which are... weird. They're not super fun to play, but they are definitely different and interesting. They also offer insight into Desmond's character and backstory, which was pretty cool. The actual Ezio main story is where the game stumbles most. It's just... not very interesting. I really didn't give a shit about what was going on in Constantinople. Brotherhood was a direct sequel to ACII with the Borgias as the villains. It was a continuation of the plot started in ACII, so you already had a prior investment in it. Here, Ezio has absolutely nothing to do with the conflict that is going on. He just happens to be in town while it's going down. Also, in both ACII and Brotherhood, there was a reason to follow Ezio around. In II, you went through his early life and training because Desmond needed to experience it. In Brotherhood, it was to find clues about the location of the Apple of Eden. Here, the first thing the game does is tell you that Desmond's consciousness is trapped in the Animus and for him to not become trapped permanently like Subject 16, he needs to force his way back into the memories because he'll only be able to get out once Ezio has nothing left to show him. That's it. This time around, you follow Ezio for what basically amounts to "just because". Another thing that bugged is that, in Brotherhood, buying and renovating shops and landmarks around Rome made sense because the Borgias' decadence was leading the city to ruins and Ezio was trying to prevent that from happening and liberate the city from their control. Here, you just do it because that's part of the AC formula. Finally, in true AC fashion, you get the big ending with exposition and all, but nothing in it feels like it called for a complete game. Other than the amazing closure they give to Altaïr (and to a lesser extent, Ezio as well), most of it feels like it could've been told to us in Brotherhood. So, the short version is: Revelations is great as a game, but weak as a chapter in the AC saga. It's an obvious cash grab but if you're a huge fan of the series like me, you'll definitely enjoy playing it. There are some really great moments that are about the characters themselves, as opposed to the bigger mythology of the series, and those are really the highlights of the game. That being said, I now know for sure that I don't want another one like this. ACIII needs to seriously shake things up. Throw away the city renovation aspect, for one. That shit is getting old and here it made no sense whatsoever. The new ancestor and time period will also need to be quite different to keep things interesting. It's a fun pick up and play game filled with large breasted anime chicks. What else could a guy want. My wife rolls her eyes whenever she sees me playing it. I was on the verge of working one of the puzzles out when Sully started yapping on about the solution. Other times, you'd be working through it, turning stuff and what-not and the game will be giving it all "You have to turn the things!" Just a bit less hand holding would have been nice. Leant the game to my dad so it'll be a while till I can have a crack at Crushing. I can see a couple of areas being pretty frustrating. That controller is one of the reasons I never touch my 360 anymore. Nowhere near as comfortable as the PS3 controller, and moving the left stick to up me insane!
