deanb
So the topic for any hot pieces of kit either out or upcoming. From whole systems to beastly GPUs to nice peripherals to top it all off. So I shall open with the Asus Slider http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/mobile/2011/01/05/asus-eee-pads-and-slates-first-look/3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQHjSTNc690 Suckily it's only Nettop like guts (Nvidia Tegra 2, which isn't too bad, and since it's an Android probably pretty amazing, but you won't get much out of for PC type games) But damn if it doesn't half look sexy. Oh yeah it's a 10in tablet/laptop so about size of a iPad/large net top. It works as a tablet so it does all the touch screen things. My only worry is it's rocking Android, which is half there n half not for tablets/nettops. Essentially it's a tablet PC with a slide out keyboard. The Tablet version of the Moto Droid. And to top off here's an image I stuck up elsewhere the other day: I don't actually know what brand or model or whatever this is. I'd like to though cos it looks pretty dang awesome. Yantelope
Sony's new Virtual Boy makes me so excited. I'd totally buy a pair of these instantly for gaming. http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/06/sonys-3d-head-mounted-display-prototype-face-on/ This is also a cool idea. http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/06/vizio-versus-offers-two-player-head-to-head-gaming-on-one-scre/ No more screen watching n00bs. deanb
If I had money to burn I would pick up one of these ASAP. Probably one of the sexiest keyboards out their. I can see it being the future of keyboards actually. Something that changes on the fly to suit the program. Similar to the philosophy behind touchscreen tablets n phones. And for an oggle at other angles n specs: http://www.artlebedev.com/everything/optimus/
Mal
Wait... those keys are screens!? Damn, I would want one of those. Though I would miss my current basic Dell keyboard... I just cleaned it today. So yeah, that is one sexy keyboard.
deanb
Oh yeah I should of mentioned that. All the keys are tiny screens that you can customize to whatever you want. Could be program specific layout, could be in different fonts. The macros can be shortcuts, tools, links, whatever. It's also nearly twice the price of my current PC. Yantelope
I used to love the way those things clicked when you typed on them. I bet an office filled with those was hell though.
deanb
One of these in SLI.**home drool*Also I think I'm gonna hunt that Precision software. My only issue would be he recommends Homefront.Bonus is new cards = lower price on older cards *for those not keeping up on the video:2 in SLI powered by a 1,500W power supply. And if anyone wants to buy one:http://www.ebuyer.com/product/262652£585/$

TheMightyEthan
How come no power supply has a higher rating than 4 eggs?
Mr. GOH!
How come no power supply has a higher rating than 4 eggs? Because when power supplies fail it's a big fucking hassle so folks are sure to go onto newegg and complain, especially since people expect them to work without much trouble. That's my guess, anyway.

TheMightyEthan
Its pretty easy to just go on to anywhere and post false reviews. Can't forget about that. While true, if that were the case you'd expect the problem to affect all different kinds of products, but there are plenty of products on Newegg with 5 eggs, just none of them are power supplies. I'm going with what Mr. GOH! said until someone comes up with a better hypothesis.
deanb
Well a joining hypothesis would be that people don't tend to find PSU's all that spectacular. If it performs frequently it's doing it's job. 3/4 stars. But things like a GPU "Holy crap Crysis 2 looks amazing with this 5 Stars" or a CPU "Eats through video rendering like hot knife in butter 5 stars", RAM "Wow I can run all the programs on my PC no sweat *****" SSD "shit, 4 second boot up". PSU doesn't have any of that "WOW!, the electricity is so...electrcitiyety"
deanb
http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/31/samsung-mass-producing-22-inch-transparent-lcd-your-desktop-mon/ Not actual image, but a decent idea of what it's like.
TheMightyEthan
It's certainly cool and futuristic-looking, and might be useful for some narrow applications (like heads-up-display type things), but why would a normal consumer want that? deanb
RTFA Sammy suggests we'll see it in HDMI and USB-compatible monitors and suspects it'll be used in advertising and teleconferencing first It's not exactly meant for us. Certainly not main PCs. Maybe uber-stylist phones. But you'll probably see it in like store displays. Say a 3DS on display, behind one of these screens (maybe touch) displaying all the things it can do n stuff. Heck you could layer the screens up and have actual background programs or to create a multi-plane faux-3D effect.
TheMightyEthan
Couldn't find a generic hardware thread, figured this one worked: Nvidia's showing off the GTX 680 now. Do want.
deanb
Couldn't find a generic hardware thread, figured this one worked: Well there was this thread, or this one. (feel free to re-jig as you see fit. Or even split and make a new one, not everything needs to go in an existing thread) I've been looking over it earlier. My main thought is: Woot, existing cards will be cheaper.
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, I'm getting along just fine with my GTX 470 now, but daaaaaaaaamn... I'm going to try to hold out for a new card until at least the next console generation rolls around, cause I think that's when I'm next going to start running into problems being able to run games. Mal
I think I'm going to hold out for another year or two before I move on to anything. CrossFireX'd 6870 should work for me for a while. Besides, I want to start from scratch with a brand new build since I damaged the mobo (clips) and case (more clips) a bit. I won't feel good with damaged products even though it will cost me an arm and a leg again... At least my HDDs, SSD and some other stuff can move over to the next build. I doubt they'll go six feet under anytime soon, especially my SSD. With that said, damn that card is sweet. I shall try my best to hold true to the 1-2 year thing above. deanb
http://store.artlebedev.com/electronics/optimus-popularis/ Shame on the general layout of it, especially the arrow keys in the bottom, such an odd placement.
deanb
http://www.scan.co.uk/shops/drwho/tardis Stupidly expensive for what guts are inside of it (I imagine they'd get much more money if they sold it as just a case) but still pretty sweet.
