Mass Effect Andromeda due within the next 14 months.

I don't think that's really much of a surprise, as both Mass Effect 2 and 3 launched at the beginning of the year, which if that trend continues it will put Andromeda in Q1 2017.

There's a rumor that Andromeda is releasing on March 21 in the US and March 23 in the UK, based on the art book's Amazon blurb.

Yes; the events will be 600 years later, but the characters from the Milky Way won't be from 600 years in the future. Given that it appears the ships are sleeper ships, the actual people from the Milky Way won't be 600 years more technologically or culturally advanced than the people in the original trilogy. We likely won't see the effects of ME3 on the Milky Way, either.

The effects of ME3 seemed pretty instantaneous as regards the destruction (or otherwise) of the relays. Do we know which ending is canon? If Destroy, then presumably they jump to Andromeda just before/during the destruction of the relays and engage in a Voyager-esque mission to return home.

There is no canon ending, that's the point of having the Andromeda mission launch before ME3: so you don't have to worry about what happened with that.

The effects were pretty instantaneous within the galaxy because they were traveling through the relay network, but the network doesn't extend beyond our own galaxy so any effect or information about it would be limited to the speed of light from there.  Andromeda is 2.5 million lightyears away, so it will be 2.5 million years before anything that happened in ME3 can affect the Andromeda people (assuming they don't send another ship back, but even then it's a 1200 year round trip so it's gonna be a while).

Wonder if you could have a H2G2 situation where you're sent off on a 600 year journey, but 200 years after launch they've developed ships that go even faster and your sleeper ship lands to a 200 year old colony already built up :P

I mean, it won't happen but always a fun quirk of FTL travel.

Canon wise I imagine they'll send a bunch of folks out the galaxy as a plan b if they can't stop the Reapers. Of course it means they'd have to maybe travel past the Reapers given we know they live in the void between galaxies, but I guess that's monumentally massive so it'd be like shooting the wings off a fly, that's flying in the Red Spot of Jupiter n you're on Earth.
