Exactly what the hell is a SWAT turn?

In Pandora Tomorrow, it was simply used as an extremely quick way to switch between sides of an open doorway without having to sneak across the door's open light. Granted, you still got exposure, but it was much quicker than manually maneuvering. The technique was simply stepping quickly across to the other side and "turning" your body so it ends facing in the opposite direction from which you started, hence the name.

I'm surprised that people are surprised that whether you're loyal in ME2 to your ME1 romance has consequences. They've been saying since before ME2 released that it would have consequences.

I'm surprised because the way they handled it in ME2. It makes it seems as though your first love interest has moved on and written you off. Additionally I'm not sorry because Miranda >>> Ashley.

I downloaded Mass Effect 2(dont worry, im buying the PS3 version asap) and it actually works on my pc. I have to turn off all the advanced effects, but it still looks great.

Should I play Mass Effect 1 first?

YES!!!!

You'll excuse my pet peeve, but I go nuts when people ask that question.

Again, YES! Play Mass Effect 1 first!

This will show my complete ignorance when it comes to pc graphics and specs, but...

Im playing Mass Effect 1 and I also tried Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age 2 and honestly, both those games look better than ME1 on the same low settings. If anything, I have to put the texture details to medium on ME1 to get it to look as good as ME2 and DA2 on low settings. Too bad the game starts stuttering a bit if I do that.

Ill take a shot in the dark and guess that this is what they call...optimization?

It was an admirable addition, but Mass Effect looked far too ahead of older sci-fi films to consider using a film grain. It looked more like static on the screen anyway. If they had a filter that replicated the haziness of old sci-fi film cinematography (Logan's Run, non-special edition of Star Wars, etc.), that would have been more interesting to try.

And I'm going to take this opportunity to say that the Arrival DLC has been the buggiest experience I've had in a long time. It dropped out on me almost a dozen times during the last stand, interactive HUD icons (doors, lockers) were showing up through walls, and sounds looped when using biotics on enemies.

It was still a good way to wrap up the game, though. And I was weirded out to hear Admiral Hackett in person instead of garbled through FTL comms.

What platform are you playing on? If a 360, which model? The first time I played through The Arrival was on my circa 2005 20GB 360. When I replayed it to mop up the chevos I was on a 360S after the other one finally RRoDed. The first play-through I had sound drop outs like mad; certain areas would be completely devoid of audio channels. The second time, I experienced no issues what so ever.

I'm curious as to how well, if at all, the content was actually tested on older hardware.
