On Illium an Asari who's met the Rachni queen will come talk to you if you saved her, and say that the Rachni are rebuilding and they will help you in your fight when the time comes (presumably that means ME3). There's also a news report on Omega about several ships reporting sighting vessels of unkown make that resemble records of ancient Rachni ships. If you didn't save the queen then those things don't happen.

I think I read something once, whether it was an article or something, that made it seem like saving the Rachni might end up not being entirely good.

Which I like in the sense that "the world isn't black and white", but also pisses me off because it was such a nice decision that was gonna get you bitten in the ass as it is, you don't need the rachni to turn evil to have people mad at you.

FYI You can choose between killing Ashley or Kaiden in the PS3 version, but Wrex was alive in my game. I forget if they let you pick that or if it just happens automatically.

I have no idea who the Kirrr whatever person is though.

You get to choose whether you killed or saved Wrex in the PS3 version, as part of that comic. Since it's not a Charm check, there's basically no reason not to save him, so it's a pretty dumb choice, really.

The "Kirrr" person is Captain Kirrahe, the Salarian STG commander who helped you in the assault on Saren's base. Sadly, anyone who plays the PS3, he's dead. In ME1 it was possible to save him, and he reappears in ME3 if you do.

I really hope that that's true, actually. I saved the Rachni, and I was like "oh boy, and guess who's gonna come to the rescue later against the Reapers." I would really enjoy it if they defied my expectations and made it a bad thing, if it was like "you let loose the bloodthirsty wild killing monsters and thought that was a good idea?"

I killed them for just that reason. It just seemed like a decision that could so easily come back to bite everyone in the ass, saving them.

That extra mission for saving the Rachni Queen seems inconsequential. Its not an important thing in ME2, and as far as I can tell, the comic only highlights super important things. It feels like something that will have consequences later on. I felt uneasy when I let her live, even if I hadnt played ME1.

In the real world, I would agree, but video games are so predictable, you know? Acts of mercy ALWAYS pay off in games. It's just Gamer Sense.

Bioware isn't known for being original or breaking the formula anyways. I expect Shepard to be in a big space battle when all of a sudden a Reaper gets behind the Normandy and they can't shake it off. All of a sudden you see some laser shots burst out and destroy the reaper and you hear a high pitched

Rachni Queen: WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!

ala Han Solo.

Anderson is also in remarkably good shape for sitting at a desk for the past game and a half.

The third novel, Retribution, which occurs between ME2 and 3, has Anderson out and about doing Shepard-y things, so he's not completely out of shape. Also, there was Deception... but it never happened, so it doesn't matter....

Isn't that the novel that was utter shit when it came to checking facts about the ME universe?

Deception, yeah. This one dude is almost done with a rage comic version of it. The accuracy in them is astoundingly hilarious.

I'll agree with Sporkwaffles that some of the characters are a bit out of character.

Though worth noting that as far as we know Mordin is different actor and I assume there's a fair bit of development with Wrex. The Kaiden thing was....creepy. I don't actually get it since in ME2 he's like "well fuck you Shepard, you killed Ashley!" and now he's all *the look*. I don't even know what it was, he seemed rather happy to see you now, and the character creator was even "there's a bond between them cos Shepard had Ashley killed instead". Then just as Shepard leaves Kaiden is "I used to know the captain"(or along those lines), which fits with the "I hate you" Kaiden of ME2.

As for Anderson I doubt he was "well. I'm leader of the council now, lets just stop going to the range and the gym n such and eat loads of doughnuts".

As far as the kid goes, no one remember this:

and the huge amounts of attention it gets. I bet there's a ton of sites chomping at the bit to make free advertising for ME3 by going "

"

Was off at clinicals all day, so I'm just now getting the chance to make some replies.

The more I listen to it, the more I'm convinced that Mordin actually has the same VA. While he DOES sound different on several occasions, those are usually when he's talking over a radio of sorts. Without that, he sounds just like he did in ME2.

So apparently you'll have a Prothean squadmate in ME3. I wonder if the appearance of some prothean tech or something of the sort will be the Deus Ex Machina needed to take down the Reapers.

In ME2, there were some hints about what can harm a Reaper. I seem to recall the derelict Reaper that you take the IFF from had been severely damaged by something or some weapon.

The ME2 reaper was hit by an ancient (pre protheon) rail gun. The slug was embedded in a(slug made) canyon in a planet in another solar system.

Sovereign required the citadel and human fleet. One reaper. So yeah they're gonna need a but of help. I can see rachni and prothean being it.

I don't think the protheans can be much help. Their technology might. Plus the fact that not everybody saved the Queen, so for those who didn't they need to still be able to get the best ending without them. Rachni is probably one of the parts of the equation that can make it easier to win.

Either ways since the permanent squad members consist of people you'll have within the first couple of hours, I can imagine the rest of the game being you going from race to race requesting help.

You know what this means? SPEECHCRAFT SKILLS ALL THE WAY UP.

I unlocked the Krogan Soldier! Had a stupid smile fixed on my face the whole of the second game (where I'd properly sorted equipment and assigned melee to the right mouse button).

I jelly. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I've got five of those recruitment packs waiting for me when the full game comes out, so I'm hoping I'll score some tasty unlocks out of that (LIKE KROGAN SOLDIER, FFFFF).

Why? Are we sure there's some rule that states "must be able to have a perfect ending, even with the Rachni queen dead in ME1"? Maybe possible to get a 90% decent ending, but I don't see any issue in your choices along the way leading to not being able to et a perfect in ME3. Like losing half your crew in ME2. Having Wrex, leader of the Krogans, dead. Having the collector base destroyed. Having a beaten up reporter. Plenty of things could combine to make it somewhat impossible to get a perfect ending in ME3.

I don't mean to make you doubt, but everywhere I'd seen people talking about how they got them it was 'buying Veteran packs. Lots and lots of veteran packs'. And that's how I unlocked one.

It takes a bit of getting used to as well. I kept overshooting my mark while trying to heavy melee (which can be fatal in the wrong situation) and overestimating how tough I am...even though they are total wrecking machines. I was beating up an Atlas at one point.
