Hi everyone! We hope you’ve been having a great time with the multiplayer demo for Mass Effect 3. If you haven’t had an opportunity to try it out, don’t miss your chance: This weekend is the final weekend of the multiplayer preview and the servers will be taken offline on the morning (PST) of Monday, March 5. The single-player demo will continue to be available. We also wanted to let everyone know that we’ve been listening to your feedback, and during the final weekend of the multiplayer demo we will be increasing the chances of unlocking rare race/class combinations. This adjustment to unlocks will carry forward into the main game.

And screenshots of all the multiplayer maps at the bottom of this page.

Doing my best to complete Mass Effect 2 in time for the upcoming installment.

I ran into a few bugs last night; the frustration!

Question: Did assignments from Mass Effect (1) affect Mass Effect 2? I ask this because I didn't respond "properly" to the "Packages for Ish" so the assignment will never grey out, even though I got my rewards and "Ish's thanks."

I'm not too concerned, but I can already see how some of my major choices will affect my "enlistment" of other species. Seriously, the whole time during Legion's loyalty mission the "rewriting is wrong" paragon choice changes to "yeah, let's rewrite them!" I decided to blow them up because, as the game kept telling me, the heretics made a choice to follow the Reapers. Even though geth are machines, I'm still altering conscious thought.

Well, some of the minor ones get mentioned in the Galaxy News Network or whatever while running around the Citadel. Overall, it won't make much of a difference. If you did plenty of assignments, I'm sure you'll get enough references to them that one or two extra won't add anything to the experience.

Found some crazy SMG weapon mod earlier. 25% chance for the gun to not consume the thermal clip upon reload. It's a pretty bizarre mod, but it can greatly extend weapon longevity if you can get it to go off.

I also unlocked salarian infiltrator!

I prefer the capacity expansion myself, relies on certainty rather than chance. Also, salarian infiltrator + cloak + Widow + headshots = win. Extra win if you get an asari adept to use stasis beforehand.

You mean Guardian? :P

I've also heard of people going for the hand that holds their weapon. I stick to the mail slot though. Especially since the Widow shoots right through the shield. Have I mentioned I like the Widow? ;)

Yes, Guardians. And yes, you have. :P

If you don't have an armor-piercing weapon, though, shooting the foot or one of the sides is a cheap and easy way to get the kill.

They certainly can be, though I'll concede it wouldn't surprise me if on average they are less suited to it than men. Problem is that to my knowledge no one has ever done any research into it.

I just think it's not "politically correct" to openly discuss such topics in the US and especially conduct such research. If "snowman" is already a sexist word... you know. That's probably why you haven't heard about such research.

I think you have a pretty skewed view of the US in that regard. Whether women can serve effectively in combat roles is actually hotly debated here, and quite openly. The reason there's no research isn't that no one wants to talk about it and potentially discover that women aren't as suited to combat as men (which again, wouldn't surprise me if that were the case in general, but you can't apply generalities like that to individuals), it's that for pretty much forever that's been assumed to be the case and it's only been fairly recently that people have been really questioning it.

As for taking things seriously, I consider prejudice in its myriad forms to be a major problem in our society and statements like yours, whether intended to be serious or not, contribute to the perception that it's okay to hold and express such attitudes, which in my opinion is a very bad thing.

*Edit* - As for snowman being a sexist term... idk wtf you're talking about. I mean yes, there are some people out on the fringe who think it's sexist to use "man" as a suffix in just about any context, but they are very much the fringe, not the mainstream.

I think it depends on what class you're playing and what weapons you use. I've been playing a lot of Vanguard, Adept and Krogan Soldier lately. With the Vanguard (and Adept up close) it's usually a Shockwave then a couple of shots to the head. The Krogan's Carnage gives the same knockback effect too.

I think that's one of the real strengths of the combat; being able to find different ways to approach a situation based around your powers as well as weapons.

So, I don't know how many people here will care, but signs point to the fact that any Shep with a face created in ME1 and not modified in ME2 cannot be imported into ME3.

http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/323/index/9513640/1

Other than one supposed Bioware dev, in a forum other than BW's own, BW has not said anything about it. They simply repeat that your ME2 face can be imported to ME3 without specifying if that face has to be created in ME2 or not. Also, seems like one space edition owner has been unable to import his ME1-created Shep into ME3.

My reaction: :(

I know I won't be able to make a face I'm happy with again. Oh well.

"NOTE: Some ME2 saves will not be able to import the face-file of your Shepherd. You will need to re-create the appearance when importing the file."

No big deal, really, it's just a face. And it's just a matter of copy/pasting face code for master race. Bit trickier for xbox, though, but still pretty easy. If I remember correctly, you can just use save files editor for almost anything.

The face code actually changed a bit as well. Even importing ME2 faces will possibly change your look a tiny bit, depending on which features your Shep has.

I was going to edit my previous post, but might as well just leave it here. Looks like there will be a day 1 patch that will fix the aforementioned issue. Crisis averted?

Lol. I edited the face of my main one both times because he looked a bit too freaky. In fiddling around with the ME3 demo, I managed to strike a balance between looking a bit like me and not being fugly (no easy feat either), so I'm gonna edit it again. 'He' is still recognisably the same person, with slight alterations. I actually think my neck and jaw have widened as I've bulked up a bit in the past 4-5 years. Guess that's aging for you. :P

I got myself one of those helmet DLC packs for Mass Effect 2. Most everything will transfer over to ME3, that is, except for all your ship models! (Oh no, my collection!)

I wore the Death Mask for the latter half of the game, but to be frank, helmets that cover the majority of your face make the whole customization aspect of Shepard moot. Sure it looked cool, but it might as well have been Default Shepard. The Capacitor Helmet, what I wore for my last two hours, is a nice balance. The only visor in-game wouldn't cover my right ear making it look goofy.

Your ship models don't transfer?!

Thought we knew this? That is why the trailer shows you going around the galaxy rebuilding your collection after all.

In other "Can't import this" news. 360 cloud saves of ME2 don't work.

It seems it was a bit of false hope. Page 43, towards the bottom, has a post from "The PLC" that explains it. Basically, some fansites reported a day 1 patch related to a character creator bug, which got hopes up. Then, other sites, like Joystiq, reported the xbox ME3 cloud save glitch, which may be what is being fixed by the day 1 patch. Since BioWare is not saying anything when asked specifically about a face created in ME1, most people in that thread agree that they just don't want to admit that a feature touted as a selling point for the trilogy is missing because 70% of players play default soldier male Shep anyways.

There's still a tiny bit of the smell of the remains of hope. But I'd rather BW come out and tell us now that we can't than let me find out on Tuesday and be disappointed.

In ME1, (and I feel like such a nerd for doing this) I would toggle helmets on everyone during combat/missions and then toggle them all off in peaceful places. In ME2, I'd try to strike a balance between something that wouldn't cover my entire face since I couldn't toggle them anytime and something that was useful for my character. For my soldier, I used the Kuwashii visor for headshots and for my adept and engineer I used the Archon visor for reduced cooldowns.

Well, if you haven't seen it yet, ME3 has the option to auto-toggle off helmets during conversations. It'll leave them on otherwise.

Damnit, this will seriously piss me off. Oh well, guess I'll load up my Shep in ME2, take a picture of it, and then look at it while making my ME3 Shep to try to make it as close as I can.

I think it's mentioned on the forums already, but the solution I can think of, is to start a new game using your ME1 import and go into Custom Appearance when you get the option. Then copy/keep a note of the face code from there (I presume they have those on console too?) and try it out in the demo. As said before, I took a face code from an ME1 import, tweaked it in the ME3 demo and fed it back into ME2 and it was almost identical.

Not the simplest method, but that should work, right?
