Damn. I'd like to finish this game soon, so I could read all the spoilers. I just have 1 question though.

Is Ashley and Kaidan's story the same in Mass Effect 3? Please answer the question in spoiler tags so those who wouldn't wanna know wouldn't see it. For me, it's nothing. If its the same, then I already know what it is. If it's not, then nothing is spoiled anyway. Just a simple yes or no. I'm afraid to search online as I may accidentally see the resolution on kaidan's story. Thanks!

Oh by the way, for anyone annoyed with the Mission Tab on the journal always starting way down, just press Sort (Triangle in my case) and you'll be back on top.

Yes, their stories are the same, although I don't know what exactly do you mean.

Thanks! Well I'm not that far in the main story so I might see stuff that could happen to kaidan/ashley while trying to see if their stories are the same. I was just saying that its not a spoiler for me if their stories are the same, but some people might not want to know if they are or not indeed the same. anyway...

This is such a sad game.

EDIT: Added spoiler tags... Oh god...

Just beat it, and wait what?

That machine ghost or whatever it was told me that the synthesis thing would destroy the mass relays, not that killing the reapers would. Also, why did it damage the Normandy but not the other ships? Something to do with EDI?

Finally, how the fuck did Liara end up back on the Normandy? She was with me on Earth for the final charge.

At least it didn't live down to how terrible people said it was. Though maybe I got a different ending than most.

*Edit* - @Dean:

At first I thought the kid at the end was stupid too, but then once it was explained what he was I figured it was just a case of them reading Shep's mind or whatever and taking A Form You Are Comfortable With. Given the choice presented, it may even have been an attempt to manipulate Shepard by taking a sympathetic form.

*Edit 2* - Also, while perhaps I didn't get the "perfect" ending (I haven't checked that endings link yet, so I don't know) it certainly doesn't feel like I got a fucked up ending on the good-to-bad scale.

*Edit 3* - Also also I agree with Strange that I would like some epilogue DLC.

The ending is not really as bad as people say. Its been blown out of proportion. Plus, it doesnt hold a candle to FF13-2s ending. I completely understand if people hated that.

I personally didnt want a Fallout 3, NV ending. I hated those endings. Just a 10 minute slide show meant to include the stuff I did. Felt fake as hell. I like short endings more than long ones. I didnt want an LOTR ending, but it seems most people did.

I will say

I disagree with you about the slideshow thing. Because the only choice thing that determines the ending is your readiness rating plus your final choice, it makes it seem like none of your other choices mattered at all. I know that they all affected your readiness rating, but considering Bioware really hyped up how your choices can all really branch out now that they don't have to hold it together for another sequel it's disappointing. So yeah, a slideshow explaining the consequences of my choices would have been nice. I actually really liked how they did it in DA:O, with the text explaining what happened after, and think it would have worked well here.

*Edit* - lol, I just read on the wiki that supposedly the combat difficulty was increased and Casey Hudson called normal the new veteran. That's funny because I was playing on normal and the whole time thought it was a bit too easy, but bumping it up to hardcore was more of an increase in difficulty than I wanted.

Project Director Casey Hudson has also stated that Mass Effect 3 will have fewer squad members than Mass Effect 2 to focus on "deeper relationships and more interesting interplay"

lol at this too. The whole time I felt like I didn't get to interact with my crew members much. Though I did like how they interacted with each other.

In the grim darkness of future gaming theres only DLC.

Honestly, you sound very naive, Dean.

Oh, btw, what the hell are phone booths doing in the future?

image.png

Niave as in wanting something a bit better, or niave for something else?

As for the phone booths, they do need a way to say "London" to coincide with Andersons repeated "They're building up in London" "London was where I was born" "Hey, you're in London". Even though by 200 years in the future they will be totally useless and maybe have a couple in the tourist-ey areas n that'd be it.

lmao (near end-game spoiler):

Just be for the final mission I walked in on Garrus and Tali making out.

That's if you don't go for her. It was building up on ME2 mind. Whereas for mine we were bros, and

I'm commander Shepard and raising folks from the dead is my favourite party trick.

I don't know if the ending sucks, I haven't gotten there yet, but

this battle over Earth is fucking badass.

Was definitely worth it, slightly marred by the blurry resolution. Shame the ending then dragged on so much since that point.

Yeah I figured into my head it was a bit like Contact. But it's never explained as such, and given

that Shepard saw magical vanishing kid at the start n then dreamt of him for the rest of the game would imply some sort of god-like being manipulating events. Bit like Morgan La Fey pretending to be a hologram in order to guide SG-1 with the knowledge to let them destroy the Ori

I think characters interacted more with each other and this time were more significant to the plot of the game. At points they all became central characters, except James. Who actually wasnt that bad. Too bad he looks stupid as hell. Freddie Prinze Jr. did a good job. Martin Sheen was fantastic though.

I also thought there were tons more dialogue and quips during missions than ME2 between characters. My team was EDI and Garrus and they had shitload of stuff to say. I loved their dialogue. On the other hand, Javik didnt say anything when I used him during a mission. Kind of a bummer.

So apparently War Readiness from multiplayer decays 2% every 12 hours, so if you get it up to 100% it will take 12.5 days for it to decay back to 50%.

However, AFAIK multiplayer characters that you promote to being War Assets stay as war assets forever.

So apparently, there is practically no way to get above an active military strength [aka not total war assets, active] without playing multiplayer and it is pissing a lot of people off. People like me. I rented the game, I can't play the multiplayer so no matter what I can't get the best ending because my galactic readiness will always stay at 50%.

Isn't that awesome? I can't get the 4000 points to have the work-for-it best ending or the 5000 to have the guaranteed best ending I've heard that if you're close enough to 4000 you can still get the good ending, but whether it's the best ending will have to be seen.

Yeah I'm discussing it with Thursday on Twitter atm. Though not cos of what you said, just cos earlier today I figured it's going to fuck people over good in a few months down the line: This isn't COD, the MP won't be active for long. Here's hoping for some patch/fix/workaround down the line.

Does anyone have any hard maths on how much war assets can be gathered? I had like 6,500 by the end of the game. More than enough with MP, but only 3,250 without. I'd need another 3,500 (roughly 4 more alien races) to get to the required 10,000 war assets.

btw if you don't/can't play MP you can get this iOS app for only $7 which also works with the "Galaxy at War"/Readiness:

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mass-effect-infiltrator/id486601093?mt=8

What I came to this thread for:

Imagine a band releases a 12-song album for $14.99. On the same exact day the same band offers a downloadable extra that has three songs not included on the album – for an additional $4.99. Then the band says that those extra songs are just “sugar on top” and that they’re trying to release “awesome music” so fans should just stop complaining because “they don’t know what it’s like to record music.”

Man, I hate it when games do that. I don't have a lot of time to play a game regularly, so when I do end up playing a game, even a new game it usually ends up being something like "play nonstop for 3 days and then not touch it again for a week", and coming back after a week and finding my progress has gone backwards would really piss me off.

If I wanted to play the Sims, where all my stuff gradually fell into disrepair if I didn't play it enough, I would. But Mass Effect? Really?

I've read about War Assets being carried over to NG+, but honestly? It's a massive game, I have two different characters and I don't feel like going through that kind of hassle to see the "true ending". Regardless of the quality of the MP, it's dickish that you need to play SP a dozen times or resort to MP to get the best SP ending. I'd rather spend my time playing something worthwhile, like Arkham City or Deus Ex.

Yeah Ethan, PLENTY of people in the Bioware forum, who lick Bioware's ass on every turn, and have bought the game, are also complaining.

So no, regardless of what you think of renters you can't justify what they did based on that. I wouldn't have played multiplayer or 7 fucking bucks for the ioS game regardless if I had bought it.
