Well, maybe I shouldn't say but... a consumer contacted Amazon to say that when their child put the ME3 disc in their Xbox it made a strange noise and "noxious fumes" were emitted by the console. This caused the child to have a headache and nosebleed. Fortunately the window was open so the child survived. Rather than dashing to the nearest hospital the distraught parent instead placed another disc in the console and finding that no noxious gasses were released leapt straight on to the internet and emailed Amazon to report (using abysmal spelling and grammar) that there was clearly something wrong with the game as it was not supplied as described. The child was, last I heard, recovering from his ordeal well, but was still feeling weary.

True story.

I'm not even kidding here. I've seen so many alternate endings and theories over the ending, I'm already tired of it. I was just having my ME3 period. I'll see what the announcement is on the 6th and if it's an expanded ending of some sort I'll get it, if not I'm moving on with my life and hold Bioware at a lower standard than I used to have them [used to be fav game developer. Will go down to "good game developer"]

Was completely unaware of this...

To my great sadness and embarrassment, it looks like there is a bug here that got introduced just before ship. It looks like the test for "is it time for ambient dialog in engineering" accidentally got switched to "are you good friends with Ashley". How did this bug happen? I have no idea, and need to do some detective work. This doesn't just block Ken and Gabby banter, but I think this blocks some Tali and Garrus banter in engineering too. As it stands now to see that banter, I believe you'll need to get Ashley in your party and take her on missions and/or give Ashley lots of attention by speaking to her and giving her the gift in the hospital. If you have Kaidan in your game, obviously this can't be done, and that sucks.

Though the fix is easy, the difficult part is getting the fix into a patch of some sort. Getting content fixes into patches is much harder than you'd think. It's a giant process. I'll try to get that fix through, but sadly, the odds of getting this type of fix into a patch is very low. It just kills me that so many of the people who care about Ken and Gabby (those of you reading this forum) didn't get to see that content. I tested the heck out of it too for weeks before ship. You just don't now how sorry I am.

Nice to see a bug that cuts complete exchanges from the game...

"ME3 Extended Cut" coming, with

"additional cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes" for the ending. It'll be out winter-ish.

The ending will still remain. So obviously if you have a beef with all that stuff then you'll continue to have a beef with that stuff. This is adding some stuff on the end, so it'll be fun to see what they think needs adding on. Especially as they've discussed they didn't think the entire cycle n all that needed explaining, yet I don't think I've seen many complain about that stuff being missing, more the lack of "what happened to everyone?" stuff.

That's cool. I wonder what RME's response would be.

I know how the "real fans" will react, they'll continue to want a new ending. The fans who like the ending i don't see complaining obviously. The fans who just wanted things explained will get what they want.

I'm not sure really what RME's stance is. Do they want a better ending, or an expansion of the ending?

Good. I think they could have made a better ending to start with, but what's done is done and I don't think they should have retroactively changed it, I've always been in the "just explain what happened to people" camp, so like elev3n said I'm getting exactly what I want.

I guess it's nice that they're doing it, but I'm not sure if any amount of tinkering can 'fix' what exists.

These things happen. It's been spotted, one of the guys responsible has apologised, a workaround has been provided and a fix is being considered. Not sure what more can be done to be honest.

I'm not saying more should be done. Just general incredulity at the scale of bugs in the game. Then again, the framework is quite complex.

For further clarification, the post on the actual Bioware website itself gives a release date of summer, rather than winter. In addition, the DLC will also be completely free.

EDIT: And to no one's surprise, people are still bitching about it all.

Really interesting article about the purpose of the Reaper's cycle: http://ludo.mwclarkson.com/2012/04/to-clear-the-crowded-sky/

The galaxy is like an overgrown forest, with older civilizations choking out new ones, and the reapers are a necessary evil, like a forest fire burning away the old growth to let new plants thrive.

Honestly it doesn't matter what Bioware does at this point, I've lost all love for them.

I'll continue to rent their games.

What happened to "if bioware releases ending expansion dlc it will restore all my faith in them and I'll love them forever"? ;)
