I liked the multiplayer quite a bit. It was a lot of fun. The only collectible stuff I was interested in getting was the customization options. I got all of them in a few matches. Didnt take long at all. Other than that, there's not much different from other multiplayer games ive played. You level up, get all kind of medals/titles and shit, and do it again and again and again and again.

They need to add collectors to the multiplayer though. I love my collector armor.

I really did want to play more of the multiplayer, but as I've said time and again, the whole random progression hinders my continued interest. Not to mention no new characters (yet) from the DLC. Oh, but I got a second color option for the Human Soldier!

Yeah, what's up with making each class and species customization separate?

At least I got the Medi-Gel and Ops Survival capacity upgrades.

But even when you do get the class you want, once you hit Lv. 20, they're really only good for two things: Gold Challenge Attempts and Credits. You're not going to get the points to max out all their powers.

There is the whole "Promotion" deal where you reset the character and receive a few points in War Assets. Yeah, I'll let you figure out if that's really "worth" it.

Their random drop system crushed all my interest in the multiplayer. I never felt like I was getting anywhere.

I said this during the beta. Back when I thought the random drops was just a beta thing to equally distribute weapons n classes to see all in action instead of needing to wait for folks to gain enough points to level up to them or buy them or what not.

I guess it can be frustrating if you don't get the classes you want, since the game isn't upfront about how they classify 'Uncommon' and 'Rare', thus helping you decide which packs to purchase, but I think there's enough variety that you'd find something worth playing. I don't have all the classes I'd like, but I have 4-5 different characters I enjoy switching between. Would get stale just playing the one class.

I agree. I played enough to get every class except Vanguard to max level, so I played the shit out of everything. It took me a long time to lose interest, but eventually I did.

*Edit* - I actually got Adept to max level twice because I stupidly promoted it the first time.

My favorite class is Sentinel, and I did unlock the Turian Sentinel (arguably one of the best), but I could only give him a single color and the only worth while weapon I had was the M-8 Avenger because it was one of two weapons that were upgrading.

Even with all the time playing, I haven't unlocked the "skin tone" option for any of my alien classes. Heck, can't even adjust the lights and while I'm complaining about small options, it seems rather silly to unlock that little thing after countless hours of already playing the multiplayer. I still enjoyed the multiplayer, but it's this weird feeling that I've never fully played it.

"Thanks for playing 100 hours, now here's your reward: a second color for the salarian engineer!"

That's where the game would benefit from being a bit clearer how it broadcasts these things. Unless you're buying the more expensive packs, you won't get the better weapons (ones that are good even without upgrading).

I've said this numerous times, but I would even be okay with them making it so that unlocking a specific character was like 10x as expensive as the most expensive random pack, I just think there needs to be SOME WAY to unlock a specific thing. The worst part about it is that because you can unlock the same character multiple times it doesn't even become more likely over time that you'll get the character you want due to elimination of options.

It's a Skinner box, but the rewards are far too sparse for it to be effective.

I got better weapons, but truth be told, an M-8 Avenger X becomes better than a newly unlocked assault rifle.

And it's not like I deeply cared for a custom appearance, but you have to admit there's something backwards about unlocking those options, especially when it requires credits which could be used for things that actually count.

EDITL So yeah, it's not a "I don't have it" problem, it's a "I'm probably going to unlock Option X for Class Y Race Z."

Ha. Gotta love the multiplayer sometimes.

Joined one lobby where we were all vanguards, one from each race (asari, krogan, drell and human) and none of us were going to change (it was only bronze). Match lasted 13 minutes.

Had another match I was thrown into just as it was starting, but it was silver when I'd searched for bronze in order to try out the graal spike thrower on my krogan. I had no equipment or anything, but fortunately I'd brought a basic SMG as a back-up (because the shotgun was pretty lame in MP) and it was 'only' Cerberus. On the other hand, a guy quit/dropped early on, leaving three of us from wave two onwards. In the end, I got to be the big damn hero during the final wave (with our luck making it the friggin' 4 objectives task) as the sole survivor. Although, because I had no med-packs left, extra caution was needed because I had a pack of about 5 Nemeses freakin' stalking me, hunting me down with an Atlas looking to finish me off. I was a Krogan running from Nemeses. NEMESES! In the end, we managed to get full extraction by kiting the enemies one way, and dashing round another. Score!
