Hmm, as much as the whole Earth section and that completely suck and lose all the game's momentum, the extended stuff does an OK job. You can kinda see what BioWare were going for now, and I found myself considering the endings a bit more carefully. Still stuck with my original instinct though, and it made that one look better.

They're all meant to be 'happy' in a bittersweet way, I guess. Just a shame the last section is full of crap and inconsistencies.

Just saw the extended Destroy ending. You know, I think I'm ok with it, even if they kept the "easter egg" that made Destroy the best out of all three endings.

Will my opinion of Bioware change? Nope. They've lost their chance, and the fourth option is basically a giant fuck you. I'll still play their titles, but I won't even consider buying them/keeping them now.

What's wrong with the fourth one? The games have been subtly hinting that's what's supposed to go down anyway and it seems logical Bioware would toss in an ending that continues the Reaper cycle. For completion's sake.

Why not see if their new game is better and worth keeping then decide to keep it, before judging those games now when they aren't in development yet?

There's a fourth ending? Interesting...

So what's the consensus on the new endings?

Hell of a lot better than the originals. If these had been the endings in the first place, I doubt anyone would have bitched about them.

Note how LIara never places Shepard's name on the memorial wall, like she does in the Control and Synthesis endings. Instead, she just looks up and smiles. Pretty sure Destroy ends up being the closest you can get to a true 'happily ever after', since it more or less now goes "Hey, they know Shep lived, hurr durr".

I picked destroy again, because it's the only one that fits my Shep's character, and I thought they nailed it. Closure was all I really cared about, and it gave that. I'll watch the other endings tomorrow so I can see how differentiated (if at all) they are from each other.

Yeah, I agree. I mean, some people would have bitched because some people will always bitch, but I think the overall consensus would have been that it was a good ending to the trilogy.

I just watched the rest on Youtube, and they've all been quite improved. Bioware did a really good job with this. Why couldn't they have done this good a job from the start.

It does kind of bug me how the Normandy is just able to fly away off the planet. They could at the very least have had another ship find them and rescue them or something, rather than being like "we magically fixed extensive hull damage with no facilities!"

Wow they really filled in those plot holes! There's a lot of stuff that happened before waking up from the beam blast! I can't believe my Shepard initially forgot all about how she told Garrus to save himself, and Liara that she loves her. But oh well. I guess that's what a laser to the face does to you.

I was secretly hoping they would patch out Marauder Shields. Just for the hell of it! Anyway, even on Narrative difficulty (did they nerf Warp/Throw? because it doesn't work and I had to replay the London battle!) he was still standing there.

I liked the dialogue additions to the starchild! Yep. They explained his existence... up to a point. He basically told you to stop asking silly questions! They're killing your people and you keep asking pointless questions! The "glimpse" from each ending was a nice touch too, as well as a few further explanations for each ending ("I want details!").

The extended control ending, it was pretty much how I thought it would be when I first picked it.. well.. maybe... My Shep's a god now. A benevolent god(dess). I would have assumed I would just back out and keep the reapers out but I guess helping the galaxy rebuild was the logical thing to do.

I guess they couldn't keep delaying this DLC so the epilogue scenes has to be painted and not rendered.

So. Now I gotta go watch the rest of the videos. Looking forward to the extended scenes from Synthesis. I assume destroy would just have more explosions (red probably!). I still think Control appeals to me the most. I don't know how the other endings could be better. But we'll see when I get around to watching it. I need to sleep.

I'M A GOD NOW!

Oh.. and also a few of the little changes:

1. How did we get to the citadel before the extended cut? Does Shep just wake up, or does she get thrown by the beam?

2. Hackett: Holy Shit. She did it!

3. Stargazer now moves!

4. Does the Starchild fade away in the original control? Hmm gotta watch the original videos again...

Also looking forward to reading the Bioware forums!

I can't stop posting!!!

I think they altered some stuff to effectively kill off the Indoctrination Theory (which would've been a cool idea, but not how the game was done), and also tidy it up and not make it so abrupt.

Things I noticed:

- Yeah, the beam actually chucks you rather than you just wake up. Takes away from the dream-like quality. I think they made that hallway a lot darker too.

- They didn't fix the muddled layout junk, where Anderson gets to the control panel before you. Or how the Illusive Man is magically able to control both Shepard and Anderson.

- They removed the 'glitch' where you could fire your gun even while standing up after Harbinger toasts you. Aww...

- Not 100% it wasn't this way before, but I think they made sure the Illusive Man's body was visible on the floor after he dies. Again, to remove any dream-like interpretations. Though it's still convenient that the circular section in the middle of the floor rises up so Shepard and Anderson have something to lean against.

- They didn't actually show the Normandy taking significant damage this time, and they actually cut before that jarring, discordant (A Day In The Life-esque) abrupt ending to the soundtrack.

- Made sure there are no more rumours that EDI survived the Destroy ending.

- Explained their organic/synthetic conflict thing a little better.

Also, I think the biggest difference is that they managed to add a human touch to it. Still can't believe how badly they screwed up the original.

IIRC originally you got to the beam and then kind of woke up in the Citadel, implying that the beam had carried you up there but not actually showing it.

I just finished my playthrough again. Eh. It's all stuff a person of average intelligence would have assumed. It didn't fill any big holes for me. I was just nodding my head and thinking, "yeah, that's what probably happened" and "that's what I would have done."

Its basic shit, man. I can't believe people want absolutely everything spelled out for them like this. If they dont have visual confirmation of how everything went down, it will always be a problem with no solution. God forbid we figure it out for ourselves. We're not kids anymore. I think were quite capable of hypothesizing and using rational thinking.

"Why is there a floating piece of shit in the toilet? How did it get there? What did they eat to make it? What kind of toilet paper did they use? Does it have corn in it? Someone narrate and show me pictures of the person who did it and how long it took them and describe what it smells like, otherwise a piece of shit just magically appeared in the toilet. That's logically what happened. Its a magic shit."

Thats how those dickholes wanting these endings fucking sound to me right now.

This really wasnt worth the 3 months that Bioware spent working on it. Im sorry, ive tried really hard to sympathize with the people who wanted this expanded ending, but im not seeing it. I just cant grasp it.

I really honestly feel like im taking crazy pills.

Well when the Blue Peter presenter is mixing away with a bowl, cracking in eggs, whisking in some flour n sugar, bit of cocoa powder, puts it in a tin, throw it in the oven n goes "here's one we made earlier" and pulls out a bouquet of flowers you're going to want to know what happened in that "earlier". So yeah people wanted the A to explaining. The gaps filling in. The promise of a unique ending fulfilling. I'm not sure what's hard to grasp. If you were satisfied with how the ending panned out, the forced explanations and limited range of endings, they you were satisfied n can move on to other games n be satisfied with those too. But fact of the matter is many weren't satisfied and the EC is the result of Bioware making good on that.

I've yet to hop onto the extended cut myself mind, so been somewhat quite on that front. But I no doubt will eventually hop on, just other things in my somewhat limited play (it means reinstalling it all too which is a faf)
