Nexus
So, as you can see, I'm a wrestling fan. I dunno if anyone else is, but I thought I'd might as well start a thread. It's nearly the best PPV of the year at the end of the month, with the Royal Rumble. I love the Rumble, it's always been my favourite event. I watched last year's live, for the first time ever. It was amazing. My favourite wrestlers are The Miz (I marked like a bitch when he won MITB and then the title), CM Punk, Alberto Del Rio and Edge. Although I'm less a fan of Edge atm. topekaguy
I only watched WCW. So its been many years.
Nexus
WCW first got me into wrestling. It was on Channel 5 once a week for an hour, about two weeks off with the storylines. I used to love Sting.
topekaguy
Sting was amazing.
King Jimmeh
This week has been a good week for WWE, with 2 very good matches on Raw, and a very good SmackDown. I'd say that episode of SmackDown was at least as good as about half of WWE's PPVs from last year.
Toshi
Why I still watch WWE I will never know. I still don't give a shit about TNA though.
King Jimmeh
SmackDown tends to be a good show most week. Raw does have terrible shows every so often, but it's been above average of late. TNA outside of the tag division is appalling though.
jayc4life
I'm about to find that out for myself, me and a few friends ate going to the TNA European Tour on the 24th of this very month. I've not watched it actively in ~5 years though.
Battra92
I haven't watched the product in ages. I do love watching the classic ones and I've been meaning to borrow Wrestlemania 3 from my brother. Starcade >>>>> Wrestlemania.
Nexus
FINALLY, THE ROCK HAS COME BACK TO MONDAY NIGHT RAW. He came back on Monday. It was pretty great. The pop was ridiculous.
claudioiphigenia
The Rock's return was awesome. Not a lot of people picked up on it, but the fact there was one aspect of his entrance that really got to me. They turned out all the lights and screens, and only when Rocky came back did anything get power. The effect was that he was literally bringing his electricity back to the WWE. Brilliant. King Jimmeh
It certainly was a great return, and more than likely the high-point of 2011 so far. I do hope the WWE top can themselves, else the next 10 and a half months are gonna be disappointing.
claudioiphigenia
There will probably be some stuff that is big, but I honestly don't see anything being bigger than The Rock coming back.
Nexus
Elimination Chamber results: I didn't download and watch EC because I now have a shitty download limit on my internet usage. I read the results, and it sounded like an excellent PPV. Cena's in the main event for WM (in a title match) for the 7th time in 7 years. Wonderful. I just don't understand why Christian was fit enough to come back to save Edge, but not fit enough to be in the Chamber. I'm sick of the Big Show. Almost as much as I'm sick of Mysterio. Mal
The Rock... ;_; Good to see him back into wrestling. Seriously. It was tough to watch him do all those movies.
Nexus
He isn't actually wrestling. Not yet anyway. He's hosting Wrestlemania. I imagine he might end up inserted into the Miz/Cena WWE title match as well.
Nexus
excel_excel get in here motherfucker. You comment on my profile about John Cena got me thinking. I don't really dislike him. The wrestler I despise the most is Rey Mysterio. I really don't rate him. He hardly puts anyone over. Face Randy Orton is shit as well. One things I hate is the double standards for face/heels too. When LayCool were calling Mickie James fatty, we were supposed to be offended. However, when Cena calls Vickie it, that's ok. I hate it. claudioiphigenia
Rey is such an obvious egomaniac and possibly a little racist. I like that the only new guy he has put over really well since in his time in the WWE has been Alberto Del Rio. No knock on Del Rio, I think he's amazing, but I just find it funny that Rey is only willing to put over a Mexican guy.
Nexus
Exactly. He failed to put over Ziggler. Now Ziggler, over the past couple of months, has been fantastic. He bumps well, and has a good move set. If Rey had given him the IC belt, think of how much better DZ would be now.

I HAVE ARRIVED! Yes the Rock's return was unbelieveably awesome in every way! FINALLY! Cena's comeback rap was awesome too and he needs to do more of that old-school Cena stuff. A shame most of the references are him just calling The Rock gay but thats what his raps were basically about anyway....hmm.... I like Cena....its just his stale character that pisses me off, and its a problem a lot of babyfaces have in the PG era. John Morrison got over with his in ring skills and selling, not any promo's or character development. Wheras Del Rio has a flashy entrance with the car, a flashy over the top persona and always got loads of mic time (being good in the ring didn't hurt him either ). Theres no spark and the heel characters WWE pushes are always so more interesting and developed. Orton was different but deathly boring unfortunatly. Every promo from his is the same. I....will talk....like....this.....*something, something*....*drop RKO reference for big pop* still people do cheer for him pretty uninaminously unlike Cena. Never really thought of Rey being like that...actually yeah he rarely does do the job these days, but I thought that was down to him not working many matches cause of his battered knees. He really only puts over his friends though, like Edge at Elimination Chamber and Cody Rhodes apparently as Wrestlemania who he's picked personally to put over. Woo Ziggler rocks. I love Daniel Bryan as well. I think he's easily one of the most over faces in the company right now, and he always has great matches. One of my faves to watch RISE OF THE VALKRYIES REPRESENT YO! Oh worth pointing out RAW did a 3.9 rating this week. Obviously coming off The Rock's appearance and the 21.2.11 hype did that phenomenal number. Whens the last time they did so well? excel_excel
So your thoughts on Mania? I was a bit disappointed. An ok Mania. 5.5/10 Edge VS Del Rio was very good, nice and heated. Why was it the opener though? Made no sense. I didn't mind Edge winning but still he didn't NEED to. Cody VS Rey was good. Nice to see Cody go over. Some awful backstage segments here. Like bad RAW segments. Just stupid as hell. Hornswoggle rapping was an embarrassment. The Corre was squashed in a shit match. this did nothing for them. CM Punk VS Orton was very good, way better then I'd thought it would be, best of the night so far. Up till this point, everything had felt like a good PPV, but nothing fitting Wrestlemania and the backstage segments were awful. Cole VS Lawler was entertaining at times but really dragged at points. Cole's outfit was fantastic though! I didn't mind the finish but it made no sense. That's not a Wrestlemania moment. It had the best build up of all the matches but was a bit anti-climatic. Taker VS HHH was match of the night and worth of Mania. Started out really intense and had a great finish. Not as perfect as HBK VS Taker but still really good. Snooki match was quick and painless. Snooki looked athletic. It was a surprise, but eh the match meant nothing. Cena VS Miz. A fantastic Miz video package to start! just awesome. Cena's entrance was ridiculous. Just so over the top and stupid. Cena's worst WM entrance ever. The match was poor, crowd was not into anything cause they were waiting for Rock. Cena's STF in the match was so poor and fake looking. The whole aftermath and second match was just a mess.
King Jimmeh
There's not much I disagree with there, although I thought HHH/Taker was too over-the-top with all the finisher kick outs and the story it told was pretty crap and could be summed as "Triple H does finisher, Taker lies on floor, Triple H shouts at him". It didn't really grab me, but too be fair, I do despise Hunter. Orton/Punk was my much of the night, while everything else was disappointing and never lived up to their potential. Oh, and after the Vince/Bret debacle of last year, I honestly thought they would've learnt what not to do, but yet the exact same mistakes were made when it came to Lawler/Cole. Too much focus on the entertainment side, which ended up not being entertaining, and not enough focus on the sports side which was where there was a lot of potential. On the other hand, I can't recommend ROH's "Honor Takes Center Stage" iPPVs on gfl.tv from this past weekend enough. SOO MUCH better value, and not one bad match on either show, and a lot of very good ones.
excel_excel
Was thinking of getting those! Fuck it I could use an event focused on WRESTLING!
TheRevanchist
I have one thought. Sometimes two, but not often enough to brag. The Miz really is fun. He is so sleazy and slimy. He is the perfect heal. I love cheering for the heels. For years, I would wait for Angle to come out and take on whatever face was going at the time. But, it takes a great heal to really make that face shine. Here is to you, Miz. You're awesome!
Nexus
Yeah, Miz is one of the best heels. I think he'd make a cracking Face too though.
