deanb Posted January 10, 2011 Report Share Posted January 10, 2011 I just started the other day., My housemate has the dvd's n with smallville n SG:U on hiatus I wanted something to watch (and since I hear SG:U is very much based on BSG...) So yeah started up and "previously on battlestar gallactica" which led to me popping into steamchat to query why the first episode of season 1 has something 'previously'. So eventually it turns out there was a 3 hour pilot of sorts which they reckon should of come on the disc, but nope. So torrented that, started watching it yesterday. Only halfway through at the moment though. So not enough to give too much judgement. It's maybe cos they wanted to get it out thick n fast but the character development isn't in line with it been a set up for possibly multiple-series. Bit too sudden n forced for cliches n archetypes. It kind of had a weak ending imo, but the first 3 seasons were really strong and are what I'll remember it for. deanb Posted January 11, 2011 Report Share Posted January 11, 2011 Just finished the mini-series. It's okay, though I think I'm gonna watch a series in full before I give any proper thoughts on it. At the moment it seems pretty cliche, you watch and know in advance what's going to happen for quite a few things. It has it's drama n action n what not. toxicitizen Posted January 11, 2011 Report Share Posted January 11, 2011 The first two seasons were pure awesome, simply brilliant at times. Then it sorta went downhill a bit. Season 3 had some great moments, but in the second half there was a lot of filler. You knew what the next step in the plot was, but you could tell they were keeping it for the season finale, and that slowed things down a lot. I can't comment on the flow of season 4 though since I kinda stopped watching it halfway through and watched the last half of the season a few months after it ended. There were some standout moments, though. Like Lost, the ending is very polarizing. Either you go with it, or you don't. Personally I loved it overall, but it was a bumpy ride at times. deanb Posted January 22, 2011 Report Share Posted January 22, 2011 So I never ended up watching the rest of BSG. I guess it mustn't of hooked me much. Been watching SG-1 though. I think it just felt pretty subpar. A bit weak. Far too much of it was cliche.
