Hot Heart
I'm gonna guess he has friends who will get it on 360.
NeoStarr
You can still play multiplayer on the PC, so I don't really see why that's a reason to get both. PC multiplayer has always been a bit of a shitshow imo. I can't stand server lists, promods, endless games, inconsistent stats, and worst of all that goddamn Unreal announcer voice. I'll never play a multiplatform game online on PC unless I have a damn good reason to (like TF2; with all its pretty updates).
Hot Heart
I guessed wrong...
TheMightyEthan
Ah yeah, I prefer matchmaking over server lists too, I guess I just can't imagine preferring it enough to buy two copies.
deanb
You can do match making on pc...
TheMightyEthan
Only some games. Starcraft for instance, and I love it. And that's why I said I like matchmaking better instead of saying I like console multi better.
deanb
Wow this is bad. Pretty fugly for one. But yeah the lag n FPS are pretty horrible, controls are awkward (console FPS though, whatcha gonna do?) Seems Power Struggle is now some kind of King of the Hill mode which is a huge bummer cos I bet it'll still be on small maps. The powers are now all rolled into one and seems you have no weakness to Stealth. You're same health throughout. In old game you'd only get decent armour if you had Defense turned on, stealth especially would cripple you if you got shot at. I guess I can see why they got rid of the original stuff though, Strengths benefit was to negate any recoil, so normally you'd get a bit of recoil, strength let you shoot straight as an arrow. But obviously with a Mouse, you can aim fine anyway unless game sticks in recoil, with consoles even minus recoil shootings a bitch. Also I can't find any button that reloads. Anyone help with that? Also no on the fly weapon upgrades, got to do it in the class menu/perks stuff it seems. I assume that won't be a case in SP and is just an MP thing. In first game you'd have little shop areas on the map where you could use your cash from killing folks to buy gun parts/new guns/vehicles n ...nuke grenade launchers I srsly hope that this is all just to fit console limitations, cos this is a shadow of it's former self. If I was a console guy I'd certainly pass on buying this, it's a stripped down travesty.

Faiblesse Des Sens
Luckily for me I never cared about Crysis' multiplayer and I likely won't care about the sequels, either. That's not the games strength.
deanb
The games strength was the suit n open environment. We know the scope is gone so it just left the suit. And unless the mp is completely different then that's been stripped down too. It was lone wolf dashing about with outcome on who shot first rather than being in appropriate mode.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Yeah, the environments seem to be smaller, which is a letdown, but I'm not going to decide on that aspect until I actually play it.
Hot Heart
Aren't two separate teams developing the SP and MP? Not sure how that worked out with other FPSs like that (Medal of Honor, was it?) but I'm not sure there's always exact parity between the two. Balancing for MP and SP could be very different. deanb
Creek make campaign. creek UK, aka free radical, on the multi player. Still you'd expect controls and suit actions to be consistent. Maybe its just console inexperience and pc version will play like the old?
Chewblaha
I heard that demo blows more than a hooker in Vegas.

deanb
http://www.rockpaper...imum-specs-out/ * Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon 64 X2 2GHz or better * Nvidia 8800 GT or higher * 2 GB RAM* Windows XP/Vista/7 * 9 GB free hard disk space * Internet connection and for comparison from Steam I bring you: Supported OS: Windows XP or Windows Vista*** Processor: 2.8 GHz or faster (XP) or 3.2 GHz or faster* (Vista) Memory: 1.0 GB RAM (XP) or 1.5 GB RAM (Vista) Graphics: 256 MB** DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (included) Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible Hard Drive: 12GB Minimum specs for both though. But that's not much of a leap, so since the Recomended Secs for Crysis are as such: Supported OS: Windows XP or Windows Vista Processor: Intel Core 2 DUO @ 2.2GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Memory: 2.0 GB RAM Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS/640 or similar I think it's safe to assume only a minor leap here too. It is coming out for consoles after all, which is where I think most the engine work went. Only an evolutionary change, optimising, etc on PC end. CE3 is just CE2 with console support and a few DX11 tweaks on top. edit: well that was fucking weird. none of this was formatted when I started. edit 2: And fixed. Yantelope
Yeah, I'm not surprised by the new specs. Really the first game still looks better than most other games on the market. The real question that I'm dying to know is how well they've managed to optimize the engine. Hopefully they've been able to take advantage of multi-core processors better. deanb
Supposedly a pre-gold release copy got leaked. With the entire campaign and multi....oh and the multiplayer authentication key. Hope to fuck they fix that hole up before launch or we're gonna see one hack filled game when it launches. (And no I don't mean we'll be able to use Kinect with it) http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/02/11/an-actual-crisis-crysis-2-leaked/ I err... may hunt it down and report back. excel_excel
That sucks. Seriously forgetting how hacked the multi-player will be its the fact that all of that and that the single player is now online more then a month before its release. Not only will this affect PC sales but it'll also affect console sales for those who may have had a PC powerful enough to play it but were going to get it on consoles for whatever reason....now they don't have to. What a shame. *cough* I'll get it off Dex sometime cause my IP has a 30GB download limit a month. But I will buy it on PC when its released, its on 35 euro in the online shops Edited February 11, 2011 by excel_excel

deanb
You know I wonder if this is a purposeful leak. The inclusion of keys says no, but I guess they're not too hard to remake with a 50 day window, however they get it out early it'd quell any fears of what system it runs on etc. Or for the more glass half full empty, they blame low PC sales on this leak blah blah, Crysis 3 becomes console only. I mean I've already seen quite the aversion to Crysis 2, myself included, over it's multi-platform status dragging it down quite a bit. But makes it easier to say it sold low cos of pirates than admit you scaled back. Still I bet you the final release it'll be 360 version as usual that hits torrents first. staySICK
hmm.. I'll have to remember that on my next trip by the house. But... DX9 only? I heard RAGE is going to be DX9 only too. That's two games with high expectations for graphical demands running DX9. Meanwhile Dragon Age 2 is supporting DX11.
