Crysis 2

Just finished SP campaign. I was pretty sceptical about the game but it turned out pretty good(I hated the demo). At least it was an enjoyable experience.

Minor spoilers!

What the hell happened to Nomad and Psycho?! It's like they didn't even exist in the first place and all the work in the first game was done by Prophet alone.

I'd put that in a spoiler tag, man...

If I hadn't already read that somewhere else, I'd be pretty pissed off. A warning a single line above is really not enough.

But yeah, I agree that it kinda sucks.

I just started the game, played for about an hour and a half and so far it's okay, I guess.

Also, so far it doesn't seem to really address the first game's cliffhanger, and that really sucks.

I guess something could still happen, but considering the spoiler you posted, I don't think that's too likely...

What is it with devs lately and making sequels that pretty much give the shaft to fans of the original ?

Oh, and I guess it wouldn't be a Crysis game if it didn't run my GPU's temp into the 90s <_<

I've been looking for a proper "spoiler tag" button, but couldn't find it. I still can't.

Also, for piratey people, MP works in cracked version.

A spoiler tag button?

Just write the code yourself [ spoiler ] your spoiler here [ /spoiler ] without the spaces inside the [ ]

edit: eh, replied first and then I saw you already put the tag up

So much for "PC is our main platform, hurr durr lol", Crytek.

Pretty much. Not only did Crytek include in the first place (seriously, what the fuck?), but they also didn't remove it until there was massive rage. If there's ONE thing that screams "console port" to a PC gamer, it's exactly including this in a PC game.

Yes sir, they gone and fuck up now. I'll hold on Crysis 2 until its on sale now. :P

Crytek, you wanted my $60, which I would of been willing to give, but after what I've seen and heard... well. Screw you guys. Redeem yourselves next game and then we'll talk. :<

Well, at least I will thank you Crytek for saving me $60.

Miltiplayer is relatively fun, although one thing worries me.

Nano vision is like a detective mode in Arkham Asylum(you can even headshot people through thin walls), but almost no one uses it. I think people will realize it's usefulness pretty soon, and it won't be pretty.

I bought the PC version for 40 bucks but I don't think I'll get to it anytime soon. I still have Dragon Age 2 to beat.

Why buy it early if you can't even play it now? By the time you can get to it the price will probably drop again.

I carry on heading to PC for Multi-plat titles way too often recently.

Anyway via PC Gamer:

A tidy little tool for changing your graphic settings.

Thank PC gaming n the PC Community for allowing us to make up for the short comings of devs.

I don't think it's a short coming as much as a design decision to go for simplification to appeal to the masses more. Though personally I'm always a fan of "advanced" options for when devs take this route.

Not really "simplification" when the three options left leave even the guys who know that AA is nothing to do with alcoholics confused on what they mean.

Most PC games provide three options: Low, Mid, High. Which Crysis 2 could of done. And a fair chunk of PC games then offer the more granular control for those who know what they're doing and want to dig in. Normally hidden behind a "Advanced" button. The engine supports it, it was in the first game. Just really weird to gut it and even to disable console access to fiddle with it in there. (which once again: why would you do that. Those who don't use console tend not to know of it, those who want to use console tend to know what they're doing. There was no harm having it turned on by default.) These guys have been making PC games for a decade, you'd think they'd know what little details to leave in/keep turned on.

None of that is server controlled?

bun-WTF.gif

As far as I can see, nope.

And I can vouch that it's definitely plausible, too, since config editing was present even in the original Crysis. I wanted to go perma-Predator mode and stalk my prey so I edited out energy consumption of all suit modes and pumped up suit regen.

There's rumors flying around that cracked copies can even play online as well. And some of the more distant rumors claim that pirated copies can access servers, too.

Probably nothing but hot air, but it doesn't change the fact that the servers don't validate. So much for designing with the PC in mind. But everyone should remember that Crysis 2 multiplayer was developed by Crytek UK (whereas the the singleplayer was developed by Crytek Frankfurt), so its a botch by a group that has no experience in PC gaming whatsoever.
