I just checked it, and I had no trouble with the new reply notifications. The ads are still obnoxious as usual, but it doesn't get in the way of the notifications. And I can access my profile just fine.

I think Crescente read this thread and hurried back there.

Yeah, I've noticed that it says 'PROFILE' where before it said your username and that now works.

My notifications popped up underneath the ad. Guess I'll just keep them all blocked now; though I don't like blocking ads on sites I 'like'.

Notification are indeed back but it's still borked. the number of replies go back up even if I've replied to them already. Not to mention I've clicked on it, saw the replies, clicked it and sent me to my own comment. Ugh.

In short, not working properly...Doubt I'm the only one experiencing this.

So, CA UK Kotaku not yet killed. Replies are being worked on. I daresay we might get half of old Kotaku's functionality in about a month's time.

Getting a bit old to be honest. I mean for the latest news? There are at least 3 sites that I can name that has news up faster. Reviews? Don't really go to Kotaku for reviews. For the odd editorial maybe.

I used to open the kotaku page whenever I sat down in front of my PC. Now? an afterthought. Just to check if they have news the other sites haven't posted yet. Which was the case a couple of years ago. Now they're always a couple of hours, if not days late.

And to think I've been with the site for more than 5 years now. Shame if we're going to be breaking up this way.

I'm not proud to admit it, but I've still been popping in every couple of days or so, and I've noticed an interesting side effect of their new design.

Some of the most insensitive and ignorant replies to an article are often featured, and they are often made by Kotaku's hand-picked team of internet moderation specialists (starred commenters), trained in the fine art of deciding which types of comments are suitable to be shown on an article so that readers don't have to sift through garbage. The irony is so complete that I don't think it could be written better, the whole thing is a recipe for internet slapfights. That redesign really is a bad look, in more ways than one.

I'm sure this has something to do with it too. I feel for the guys who are trying to stick with it.

My apologies if those posts linked are to people on here or friends of theirs. I also understand that people may agree with one or more of those comments, but the point is to show what type of interaction this setup promotes.

http://board.pressxordie.com/user/184-maritan/ Maybe... :P

(I'm pretty sure that there he's trolling, I think he posted it on here actually)

Heh he only had to post one thing, and looking closer it seems Foxstar joined in and he's a huge Nintendo fanboy.

I've done better :P

Damn! I remember that Foxstar guy. Foxstar Sixtail was it? Is he here? HUUUUUGE Ninty fanboy. Whenever a game mechanic, innovation cropped up he'd say that "Nintendo did it first" or "They copied it from Nintendo" etc. Got old after a while.

basically, the side bar doesn't work for me. I click on an article there and nothing happens. Pure shit.

I just don't go any more. Too frustrating. When/If all the kinks are worked out, I certainly wouldn't be opposed to going back, but at this point, I'd rather go through the work of making a thread about a topic here and talk about it with a few rational people here. Edited by peteer01
