I find it sad that his apology update is way longer that the original text.

First, this post is not research-backed journalism. I walked into a room, looked at a game, and offered what I thought about it. I've been doing that professionally for around 15 years.

Wow. I wanna get paid for professionally walking into a room as well. Where do i sign up?

Is it possible to "professionally" give knee jerk reactions with absolutely no background knowledge?

I mean surely, if someone said to you: "Hey, want to come see WH40K and write a short piece about it?" you'd maybe, just maybe hit up Google to see what it's all about.

I'm not saying that he should necessarily know an Eldar from an Orc, but even the most cursory image search would clue you in on the general art direction of the universe.

Haha. I guess this isn't really 'Fucking Kotaku' but it's funny because I can imagine a fair few people fuming at these.

Stephen Trolltilo?

The second point is a very fair criticism of Persona 4. The way the game starts is completely dull, with hand-holding taken to an extreme level for a good hour or so.

Resonance of Fate is awesome! Can't really remember much of the first couple chapters though. Kind of blend together. The story takes ages to open up more though.

Kotaku will not be covering Warner Bros. video games for the next 3 months due their use of NDAs to lock in exclusives with other outlets.

All very noble, except... well All Warner Bros have in the upcoming months is FEAR 3 (end of this month), Green Lantern (next week) and Arkham City (in.....4 months)

So in other words they won't cover a movie game, Fear which I have no opinion of to say if they're missing much there, but their little spat with Warner Bros ends in time for them to start running Arkham City stuff.

Also it's not like NDAs have ever been anything Kotaku really cares for, especially of late in trying to get their hits up.

"Because gamers are potheads!"

You're an idiot if you think there are no pot-smoking gamers and also if you don't realize it's a gawker repost. Remember, "pot smoking gamers" is considered a big enough niche that they actually made a major release movie about pot smoking gamers.

I won't defend Kotaku, but here is what I see.

Kotaku is a blog. It's been that way since my first days of going there. So, I expect a little less focus on the news side at times (let's say 10%). However, the drug article really didn't sit well with me. Gawker had it on all of their sites. It might have been an advertisement for all I know. I refused to click on it.

Today, there was a picture, as I pulled it up during my break, of a girl in a bikini washing cars. I didn't care for this, either, as it's NSFW.

But, I digress. I don't hate Kotaku so much as I hate the design. HATE the design. Like, stick pull nose hairs out with a tweezer type hate.

Not LotRO, War in the North, which isn't an MMO.

They covered War in the North fairly extensively in the past.

Also, they covered Rift pretty well leading up to its release.

I haven't seen a single Star Trek MMO news piece in... months.

I know I'm defending Kotaku, but I'm just trying to be fair.

Lol @ you tools minusing that. There's a lot of drug using gamers. Deal with it. Bitch about something else on Kotaku/Gawker, there's plenty more material.

FDS people are not downvoting your posts because they dislike the notion of druggie gamers. People are downvoting your posts because you're coming across as a giant douche.

People sure do get their feelings hurt quite easily. Get over yourselves, it's the internet.

You're calling people idiots, it's the kind of thing that is designed to offend people. Where do you draw the line? If I say that the dumbest thing that bitch you call a mother ever did was get knocked up and shoot you out of her filthy twat, does it not matter because it's on the internet? Even if you don't care, should everyone grow thicker skin to meet your standards, or does it seem more reasonable for you to just speak to people without insulting them?

Just an alternative point of view to ponder.

Well, I'd say "Good show, FEC! That's a right proper insult done right! +1 my good sir!"

A proper insult? I'd say that's too direct and soft by internet standards. You need to be more annoying in your insults to the point where it enrages people.

Kind of like Kotaku's writing.

And besides, this is the Internet. Insults are standard around here. Then again, there are people who get mad about that sort of thing, and try to pass it off as everyone else being mad about it except them. :D

Yeah, there is something to that, and if we were posting on IGN I wouldn't bat an eyeleash. This doesn't come n hasn't ever come across as this type of place though, and it does bug me to see totally unprovoked rudeness like that, and the rationalization bothers me most. While I don't post on here all that much, I've seen enough to read plenty of his/her posts, and believe they're smarter than that. That type of rationale would have us all verbally brawling in here instead of engaging in meaningful or productive discussion. I don't believe it's very difficult in a forum like this one to treat people with some measure of respect, even in disagreement.
