King Jimmeh
Yeah, I occasionally check to see if I can login with my Facebook, but until then I ain't gonna really fuss about, as I can't be bothered having to get starred again and what not. drag
now their gay red banner says to me 'To ensure continued access to your account, please update your email address.' yeah like i'm ever going to give you idiots my email address ever again. deanb
Yeah that's both sad and hilarious. I hope most people take the 'fuck no' stance.

diedan
Meh? I know the compromises were horrible, but I still don't see that as a reason to not go back there. I have too much fun in #speakup to let that go. And I guess I don't share everyone else's dislike of the writers/non-gaming posts/whatever else. And, yeah, this is great, but it's a completely separate entity in my head, or a completely different experience at least. The high level of random interaction that happens in #speakup or other off-topic places isn't really duplicable here or anywhere else. /2 cents
Battra92
Yeah that's both sad and hilarious. I hope most people take the 'fuck no' stance. Meh, I took Lifehacker's advice long ago about having a fake email address for less than secure websites.
Mister Jack
I still go there (but will probably stop once the new layout hits and am VERY OCD so I hate ugly webpages) but I don't do nearly as much commenting as I used to because I've moved over here for the most part. It feels like less of a crapshoot over here, since there's less chance of some dumbass trying to troll. Moderation over at kotaku is kind of lax when it comes to people who actually NEED it. deanb
Btw is anyone...posting about this place? I notice that there's no new additions the flock. And I'm sure there's many who'd like to know about this place.
Strangelove
Btw is anyone...posting about this place? I notice that there's no new additions the flock. And I'm sure there's many who'd like to know about this place. I have an FB account and Kotaku doesnt give me the option to use it anymore to post. If they dotn fix it, i pretty much lost my 2 year starred account forever.
diedan
Oh, I completely understand why people are jumping ship on Kotaku/Gawker as a whole. I just wanted to throw in my feelings toward Kotaku in general simply to add a differing perspective. And, yes, if they go through with that godawful layout, I may have to stop. That would be my last straw; I can't deal with that, especially if #speakup gets dropped. I feel this would be a lot better articulated if I wasn't at work and behind in my projects... RadiantViper
(but will probably stop once the new layout hits and am VERY OCD so I hate ugly webpages) This x1000. That new design is just so very awful. Btw is anyone...posting about this place? I notice that there's no new additions the flock. And I'm sure there's many who'd like to know about this place. I've seen a few posts about it in the last few days ... and that's why I'm here
ADIRTYWINDOW
I will probably delete my account also because I hardly commented there. I mostly came to Kotaku for for its community. But most of my favorite users are already here. Plus, they are really killing the community with the new layout.

TheForgetfulBrain
Whuh. Apparently an account I had like THREE YEARS ago, that I completely forgot about, was also released. I found this out because I tried to login to my webmail and Yahoo told me it had been compromised. Then I checked that e-mail in that e-mail checker tool. Sheesh... Hot Heart
http://kotaku.com/5714261/the-finest-form-of-flattery The one bit of journalism that Kotaku tries to do and a terrible newspaper has to go and use it.
Cyber Rat
I don't know how Kotaku can post that article, considering they pulled the same thing off a few times.
jayc4life
I don't know how Kotaku can post that article, considering they pulled the same thing off a few times. Because it's the equivalent of wanking to a picture of themselves. And I'm pretty sure we all know Kotaku's only-too-often-documented stance on masturbation. TheForgetfulBrain
I just got this e-mail from woot: Dear TheForgetfulBrain, By now you've probably had enough of the whole Gawker account hackery ordeal, and we hate to pile more anxiety on. But we found your email address in Gawker's list of compromised user info, and it looks like you used the same email address for your Woot account. We have no idea if you used the same password at each site, of course. But if you did, it might be a good idea to change your Woot password. You can do that at your My Account page here: https://account.woot.com/changepassword. Or if you're nervous about clicking links in emails, just log in at Woot and click "My Account". And because we know you've probably had a crappy week, please let us ease your pain. Just enter the coupon code CHANGEYOURPASSWORD during checkout at any Woot site and enjoy $5 off of your purchase. It expires March 31, 2011, by which time we assume you'll have recovered from your Gawker-hack trauma. Stay safe and keep those passwords fresh now, y'hear? —Woot That's pretty cool of woot - five dollar tee shirt next time I find one I like! I'm still incredibly frustrated though that an account I made and forgot about three years ago is out there, ripe for those torrenting the list to spam or try and crack. It's bad enough having one e-mail address on that list, but two? And both of my main e-mail addresses? Sheesh...
Sindo
Fuck . Now I wish I had tied my email to Gawker.
TheForgetfulBrain
Fuck . Now I wish I had tied my email to Gawker. Hmm. Unless woot is extra clever and tying the coupon to accounts, maybe it would work for you anyway? You should add something and see if adding the coupon works, just to test. [EDIT] - Yeesh. I just got one from Groupon too. It's pretty crazy how many sites completely unrelated to Gawker are emailing people about this. The repercussions of that hacking are certainly no small thing. CorgiShinobi
Well, I hope eBay does something similar. I use my "online shopping" passwords for those sites, so I've always been safe... but they don't know that.
deanb
Since I see a fair few folks asking in #speakup about the Search bar I'll point out here that you can google: site:kotaku.com searchphrase e.g: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=site%3Akotaku.com+crysis And it'll search the site. And with much greater and finer controls. So yeah if people want ot pass that on to the folks asking.
Shadowstep
Aww, but if we do that we'll have less of a chance of seeing embarassing searches!
