Pirandello
Why, Bioware? Why have they left this child with much potential to rot and die? How DARE they! Anyways, I loved the gameplay, setting, and story of the game. I thought it did pretty well taking Chinese mythology and really ran with it. Thoughs? Opinions? P.S. I'd kill for another sequel. Or an open-world version of this game. Edited January 12, 2011 by Pirandello
TheForgetfulBrain
I have played through the first part of this game waaaay too many times. I don't know why I could never get into it - it was really fun! I have it on Steam from an old Steam sale. Really need to get around to playing it someday... Pirandello
It's worth playing. I just wish there was more of the world to explore. And also, I'm contemplating whether or not this should have gone into Multi-Plat...
Enervation
I played this once, and I got to the end. It had the Bioware staple of "restart the game with your current char!" I clicked exit.
Yantelope
I really enjoyed this game too. I wouldn't mind a sequel but really I understand why they're giving Mass Effect their full attention.
Mr. GOH!
This game represents my loss of innocence and the start of my strong feelings against the consolization of RPG's. I loved Baldur's Gate 2. I wanted more of that sort of RPG goodness. When I got a lackluster fighting game with a short campaign and forgettable characters I was sorely disappointed. Indeed, Jade Empire might be one of the more disappointing games in my life. It aslo was my final D2D purchase before I switched fully over to Steam. Pirandello
Well, I actually liked it quite a lot. Good games based upon Chinese mythology (that aren't MMOs in some form or another) are extremely hard to come by. I think Bioware did a fantastic job taking the mythos and actually making something spectacular out of it. Granted, it felt like there could have been more to achieve, but the game was still very enjoyable to me nonetheless. Still hoping for a sequel though. Probably not going to happen since they're working on TOR and Mass Effect nowadays, and they'd probably question the mainstream potential of something like rebooting JE. docsfox
I love Bioware games. I think I've played just about all of them but from some reason this game just doesn't do it for me. Maybe I don't like Chinese mythology or the direction of the story. What I do know is the combat feels clunky, and it's a big annoyance, especially for a game based around fighting in a 3D space. The game isn't broken though and the key peices are there and I should love this game, but I don't and I can't explain 100% why.
Hot Heart
I played it when I was really into a lot of Wuxia (I think that's the term) films, mainly ones involving Yuen Woo-ping and/or Jet Li, and really liked it. The combat wasn't perfect, but I enjoyed the journey and twists. Gameplay-wise, it's probably quite 'accessible' compared to KOTOR or ME1. I actually quite feel like playing it (and watching those films) again, so I might see if it works on 360 or grab a cheap PC copy.
TheForgetfulBrain
I'd suggest the PC version, hot. Better visuals and some content that wasn't in the Xbox version.

I think I got the special edition originally anyway, with Monk Zheng or something and another weapon and fighting style, but Steam mentions some other stuff for the PC version. Might have a look for it tomorrow.
SixTwoSixFour
This game represents my full-on exploitation of game design oversights. Say it with me folks- "STORM DRAGON!" Cheapest. Style. Ever. When it paralyzes the FINAL BOSS completely, you know you have a problem. I enjoyed it, though... but it was no KotOR. Solid, but not stunning. StrifeROKs
It's a p. good game. I could never get my character to have the threesome though...

Enervation
THERE WAS A THREESOME?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I agree with this statement. I was not aware there was a threesome of which you speak! I'm kind of curious as to which character you guys picked when playing JE. I picked the semi-bald big monk guy lol.
TheForgetfulBrain
I knew about the threesome and I barely played the game. ... I don't know what this says about me. Actually, I do. Oh well!
SkyGriever
If you had hardened Dawn Star and Silk Fox there was a way to get them to do a threesome with you. BTW, really loved this game. I think I already did this story. but I actually liked it so much that I "borrowed" an Xbox from a friend for a week in order to play it. Needless to say, he didn't talk to me again. I would really love a sequel.

Don't you mean "moistened?" I mean, that's amongst the usual prerequisites for a FFM ménage à trois. Or is there, so to speak, more to Dawn Star and Silk Fox than I had thought? TheForgetfulBrain
I never actually got very far in Jade Empire. I played the beginning a few times but always got sidetracked and ended up skipping most of the dialog, never really getting into it. Well, I finally bought the special edition for like $3 on a Steam sale a few years ago. It's been sitting there in my library, uninstalled, and I figured I'd never get back to it. Well! Turns out it's the perfect game for this laptop. It still doesn't run perfectly smoothly sometimes, but hell, it runs fine enough. And, I'm discovering how much fun the game is this time around. Yay for rediscovering old classics!
