Mercurial
Whats funnier is that their best games were MULTIPLAYER. There aren't that many Western RPG games as there are FPS games. So maybe that's where the stigma comes from. Johnny
Beta... demo. Same thing in today's world. Not yet. We still have developers who realize the value of having a proper beta to test things out. Although they are becoming rarer and rarer. Edited in: And really, in some cases it's really a key factor. Plain Sight, for example was first released in beta form several years ago. They thought it was about ready, but the criticism on the beta made them go back into development and polish everything. When they next rolled a beta out, it was much better. Imagine if Stardock had done a proper, public beta instead of just "all out fans who pre-order it will get in" for Elemental. Maybe the game wouldn't have been broken on release. Edited February 3, 2011 by Johnny

TheForgetfulBrain
Here's a good article on some of the concerns about the second Dragon Age. http://pc.ign.com/articles/114/1148168p1.html

McBeeferton
I'm interested in how the game will turn out, but I never enjoyed DA:O all that much. It was a decent game but it really failed to wow me. There's a ton of parts where I just sigh and hate doing. The Circle of Magi for example is really, really boring. As is the combat in general. I plan on getting the original Ultimate edition on Steam sometime, though...
excel_excel
Remember all the hate Wind Waker got for its new look and then it came out and was too padded out with sailing?............
McBeeferton
No I don't actually. I don't even recall anyone ever talking about that game at the time of it's release.
TheForgetfulBrain
I remember thinking it looked pretty ridiculous visually and hearing similar comments, but I never ended up playing it since I didn't have a Gamecube. My friend that did loved it, though.
Pirandello
Hmm, I think I'm rather fine with how it is. I look forward to playing the game. I'm usually one that leans towards more faster and brutal style melee combat in my games, so playing a warrior is definitely a must for me in this one. TheForgetfulBrain
Seems that PC Gamer super liked DAII: http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/02/11/first-dragon-age-2-review-takes-editors-choice-award-in-pc-gamer/ My subscription has expired, but I guess the issue hits stands the 16th - they'll probably pop the review up on their site as well at that point. Even though the full review isn't up, that's good to hear. I'm still pretty firm in my belief that this game is going to excellent, despite everyone's concerns.
