deanb
4chan don't do hot linking. You got anything a bit more solid (It's why I love Dropbox, just save it and you've got it yourself forever, no issues the source site will go down)
TheForgetfulBrain
Crashing? That doesn't sound good. Did you pick up the high-res texture pack yet, Brain? Yep - game doesn't run as well as I was hoping on my machine with stuff maxed out, so I've turned down the AA and turned off occlusion. Hopefully we get some new drivers/patches to deal with the crappy performance soon. oooooookay, my impressions: 1) MERRILL IS SO MOE! 2) Playing on "normal" is too easy(3 mages + tank destroy everything without player's involvement) 3) Playing on hard is... HARD, especially with this retarded console camera and especially with Rogue as main character. One Qunari mage destroyed my entire party with just ONE spell. I don't think I'll be playing this game on hard without proper overview camera. Yeah, I had to pause like crazy just to get through the first ogre battle in the introduction with the rogue on hard - it's nuts. But I kind of like it! Even though I know I'll be tearing my hair out later on... Argh... I want to get back to my house and play more! Sad face.
TheMightyEthan
yep.http://images.4chan.org/v/src/1299687993026.png Also, switched back to Hard. Noticed how difficult it is become to control each character individually. lol, I'm at the university right now on the free wireless, and clicking on that informs me that this IP was banned from 4chan last year for posting child porn. Way to go, college students!

Some of the reviews specifically mention how they hated the demo. Demo or Impression Review != Game Review, but the internet does not care. Mr. GOH!
After playing some more DA2, I'm beginning to wonder about some of the design decisions, specifically the relentlessly recycled locations. I had thought that EA is very sensitive to reviews. Yet, the location recycling pretty much guarantees a reduced score. There are several other non-reviewer-friendly facets of DA2 that similarly puzzle me; Bioware and EA had to know DA2 would be dinged for a whole host of these sorts of issues and that nothing else about DA2 is transcendent enough to overcome these shortcomings. This is not a complaint about the game; I just wonder if someone at EA/Bioware dropped the ball or if there's some other internal policy change that led to these strange and sometimes frustrating decisions about how to build DA2. Mercurial
SWEET MISERABLE FUCK! Jesus Christ that High Dragon was hard as hell. Ended with Hawke at 10 hp and Mirrell throwing shitty standard ice shit and no mana or lyrium potions. Armor is totally worth it though. Oh ya I also used all my potions. BrainHurtBoy...2
I've put quite a bit of time into this game. I'm... enjoying it, but Kirkwall as a setting just does not cut it for me. Also, I much, much preferred the companions in DA: O. I mean, Varric just all-around sucks, Isabela is juvenile and basically female Zevran, Merrill is annoying and when I talk to her I feel like I'm playing a low-budget JRPG. Anders is Anders, and I like the whole twist they put on him. The companion armor system is gimped as shit. I could go on, but I won't. The game's good and very pretty on Very High settings with the Hi-Res texture pack. The animations also have made an incredible jump in quality, but the story, writing, characters and (ugh) "streamlining" of the game make it good, not great. TheForgetfulBrain
For those actually playing the game, the Facebook game is pretty fun though the art style sucks, and playing it earns you five items in DA2. I've got two Beta codes to anyone interested (I think it's still in Beta for some reason), first come, first serve: YYZD-W5ZN-3DP7-MTA4 YYZD-W77T-TSYM-BP37

But I agree that Isabella just isn't that interesting (although I suspect that her being from Rivain will play into the Qunari quest lines at some point - maybe that will make her more compelling). I've only just gotten Merrill, but she doesn't seem to be a Vanille. But I suppose that could change. Fenris and Aveline are more interesting than II thought they'd be as well. But, yeah; the team isn't as interesting as DA:O's. I think so far my impression of DA2 is that it's a cheaply made knockoff of DA:O. I'm having fun and enjoying it, but I can't shake the feeling that it's missing a lot of the soul that makes some RPG's great. I can feel the decisions the dev team made to cut costs and development time while still being able to ship something that appears to be a well-made Bioware RPG on paper. In the execution, though, it just feels cheap.
TheForgetfulBrain
I am saddened by all these negative reactions. I still haven't been home much or had a chance to play past the introduction, but I really, really want to love this game. Hopefully Bioware takes note of the fan anger and knocks one out of the park with DAIII... A man can dream, anyway.

Hey, my negative reaction is tempered by the fact that DA2 is still a good Bioware RPG. Better than Jade Empire, at least. Interesting! You know, I could never get into Jade Empire while it was out on Xbox. I tried twice, playing through the first chapter, and just couldn't dig it. It wasn't till years later I bought it on a Steam sale - and a year and a half later that I've been playing and really enjoying it. Yours is a very fair and unbiased negative reaction. You've tried, you're still enjoying it, you're just disappointed, and rightly so I suppose. I haven't had a chance to give the game its due yet, but I hope to soon. I'll probably still like it, but I am sad that it seems they missed on so many fronts what made Origins such an incredible game. Boo. TheForgetfulBrain
Crashon Age: Origins of the Crash is growing on me. DA2 looks really unappealing in comparison. Tonight, I was drunk enough to Google that title with some sort of expectation of finding some actual game. In other words, bedtime. DA2. Fucking. I want to go home and play it more. It seems okay to me, if somewhat neutered. Like my poor cat that is left peeing on the walls because that's what he's been left with after the operation. Dark days, sirs. Dark days indeed. staySICK
Crashon Age: Origins of the Crash is growing on me. DA2 looks really unappealing in comparison. I really haven't had it crash on me, except on exit. Lately its almost been consistently crashing on exit. Not during gameplay, thank goodness. excel_excel
Why Hawke! What rosy cheeks you have! ...ALL THE BETTER TO DISAPPOINT YOU WITH!....*cough* I'm finishing DA:O before I touch 2 at any point. It'll be a while
staySICK
I used the save generator someone had linked a few posts back. It works rather well. also; I'm on beta drivers that supposed to give better performance with da2, downloaded the high textures pack, and still getting some artifacting and visual glitches. oh man I wish I screencapped the cutscene of the boat... it looked hilariously bad. Overall after all the headache, the graphics aren't that bad and the performance is a huge increase from the demo.

TheForgetfulBrain
I'll post my Hawke when I get home tonight - he looks like a more attractive version of my Warden - which absolutely makes no sense, unless you're living in the world of Devil May Cry 4, where the heroes look alike for absolutely no reason - but I'm still pretty pleased.
