Johnny
I had a custom Shepard, but thought default FemHawke looked really good, so I just stuck with that.
Mercurial
Here's my Hawke Black Emporium was the only place I could go cause it's post game. Also have a femHawke, but it's just default with the blood streak on the nose. I may download highres later... I'm quite drunk and only a few hours in - I am loving it to death, but too lazy/drunk to screenshot it right now. Will do so later!
Mercurial
Plus I did all the quests. Ending felt a bit...lacking. really disappointing =/
TheMightyEthan
Yeah, the GT review described the ending as "weird". I've heard that the game doesn't do a good job of letting you know why you should care what happens to Hawke.
staySICK
that's the overwhelming response I keep seeing too. Your character pretty much remains a mystery to even you throughout the game and really does little to create an emotional investment into his/her story. rainetemplar
I'm downloading the PS3 demo right now. It's taking forever, though.
TCP
I hope the DLC makes up for it. Hopefully they give it the Dragon Age: Origins treatment and not the Mass Effect II style of one or two short DLC missions and some extra weapons and equipment. BrainHurtBoy...2
The ending was... strange, to say the least. It was... hrm. Not good.
deanb
UK sales in: 360 - 57% PS3 - 22% PC - 21% PC isn't including digital in that.
deanb
So I've generally been skimming stuff, not wanting to dip in too much until I pick it up myself, but from what I can gather the character focused method used this time has kinda backfired to the point where the game alienates you to the point where you're kinda going "what the fuck is going on". not too great in an RPG. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/03/14/wit-the-opening-hours-of-dragon-age-ii - this isn't their review, merely a run up to the review (they tend to do them) I'll say from my time in the demo I really disliked the convo options given, seems I wasn't the only one. Kind of a bummer that the demo is the start of the game, I could of done with a bit of a run up on family members. Funny thing is, I remember another RPG coming out last march that had similar issues in an iffy start up and annoying characters and that was torn limb to limb over it. Seems if your game is rushed instead of late by a fair few years you get let off the hook.
Pirandello
Finally managed to get in a good amount of playing during the weekends after purchasing it! I can see how some people have problems with the game, but I still enjoy it. Companions seem to suck this time around, though, with exception of Varric, who seems to have taken over my wingman spot a-la Alistair from DA:O. Varric: The only guy I like. He's great through and through and he's practically my Hawke's blood brother. Merrill: She likes her blood magic and demons a little bit too much. Shame, since I was trying to romance her, but I keep ending up getting rivalry with her instead with my treatment towards demons (which is: KILL ALL DEMONS). Bethany: Fuck me for taking her to the Deep Roads. Fuck me twice for not bringing Anders with me. Carver: Never really liked him. Isabela: She's weird. It's hard to tell what choices get her friendship or rivalry. Aveline: She's okay. But ugly (to me). Anders: He totally gives me the pro-mage extremist vibe here. No touchy with ten-foot pole. Fenris: Dude has problems with the word "Tevinter". He's certainly better than the others, though, so I keep him around. And on top of that, some of the choices that I made during the companion quests were completely unexpected from what I thought they'd be. Especially in Merrill's case. And the Black Emporium is a nice place. I see stuff that catches my eye and figure out that it's too expensive for me.
Mercurial
You lose your brother/sister even if you don't bring them into the deep roads. Anders made me rage hard at the ending. I almost picked the option to kill him...but I liked him in awakening. Edited March 14, 2011 by Deanb spoilers
Mr. GOH!
*snip* Funny thing is, I remember another RPG coming out last march that had similar issues in an iffy start up and annoying characters and that was torn limb to limb over it. Seems if your game is rushed instead of late by a fair few years you get let off the hook. DA2 is severely flawed, but FFXIII features more nonsense, more awful characters, and less gameplay than DA2. The fact that FFXIII was a lump mof shit polished to impeccable shininess further heightens its terribadness. Also, while DA2's characters may not be the best, they do not provoke berserker rage at their nonsense gibberish/moan-y non-words/generally hateful existence. Please, folks, criticize DA2 all you want as it likely deserves such criticism. But that won't make FFXIII anything other than an interminable and pointless Z-grade anime with some bits where you might have to hit a button or two. Oh not trying to elevate FFXIII, just highlighting how many (review) folks don't seem to be giving the game as much a hard time on similar issues. (heck not even FFXIII but XII too, both DA:O n DA2 both have the same gameplay that XII was torn apart for at release )
Maritan
Beat it in three days. I wanted to kill Isabela soooooo much... I think the ending is another marketing trick to make us pay for the real ending. Also, High Dragon Battle was fucking tedious. deanb
There has been no attempt made on biowares part to sway my opinion that I was right in skipping this game on day one. Many times the opposite.
excel_excel
Well....well maybe Chris Hoban really liked the game he made!....yeah! yeah thats it! I mean look at him, the guys got connections! Twenty three to be exact.
Faiblesse Des Sens
Well Dean you have to realize that it was only done in response to all of the people trolling/spamming metacritic with 0s. Which is really unfair.

Pirandello
Just beat the game. The ending was fairly lukewarm, as was the boss battle. Sad that I didn't get anywhere in terms of romance since you need quite a large friend rating (why could they not have just stuck with the more easier-to-understand approval system in the first game?). Was quite charming to see Leiliana again, though. Also, I suppose the next game will be in Orlais. Why? 1. Bodahn and Sandal are always in the game. They said that they wanted to head to Orlais since the Empress there was impressed with Sandal's enchantment talents. 2. Civil unrest in Orlais and a mounting tension between factions. Sequel plot sustenance, yum.

I hope to god that isn't the case and the game actually goes somewhere INTERESTING like Tevinter or Rivain.
Pirandello
You just KNOW they're going to go with the whole 'historical parallels' French Revolution thing. I hope to god that isn't the case and the game actually goes somewhere INTERESTING like Tevinter or Rivain. I can imagine Tevinter being quite... interesting. From what I know of it, it's quite the cutthroat nation run by self-centered mages. I would like Rivain or Antiva, though. Orlais is the biggest nation in the game, so I think something can be salvaged from it. On another note, the ending sucked. They tell you everything you don't want to know or already know. What I wanted, and what they missed, to know, was to what happened to my character. Otherwise, it's a decent game, and I liked it. Playing through again as an asshole/sarcastic mage, and I must say it's a lot easier when you're a mage. EDIT: The companions are just starting to get on my nerves. It's pretty much the fact that the choices for them are "bipolar". Trying to play nice with these people is freaking ANNOYING. I want my Alistair back.
