It sounds more like personal issues and you couldn't hold it against anyone. Halo is what it is and if you want to do something different, you'd need to go elsewhere. Although, the way his leaving has been phrased does suggest negativity but I don't have high hopes for Halo 4 anyway. I have to say, given what I know about the series (what my friends told me I needed to know to play this game, so I'm assuming not a lot) I felt that the ending was a little lack luster (a little, still a solid ending, just not what I was expecting. Reveal hidden contents The end with your character just kind of staying back on Reach, fighting off the the horde of enemies and the final quote, was not as heroic as say... the other 5 member's of Noble team's deaths. I was hoping you to go out in a blaze of glory, your death would be the only way to save the few fleeing from the planet. Over all, it was a very good story, but not as emotional as I had hoped for. Sure, going out in a blaze of glory is neat and all, but these are Spartans, they fight with all their might all the way through. Admittedly and shamefully, I didn't last very long.... but it still felt pretty dang cool! I was doing my best to hold the Covenant off, I knew the end was coming, the visor cracking kept reminding me of my impending doom, I just had to keep fighting. As far the other member's deaths, Jorge's and Carter's actually hit me. Jorge died under the illusion that he ended everything, little did he know it was just the beginning. Carter took one for the team assuming his responsibility as the leader, he knew what he had to do. As for Emile, I may be biased, but I never took a liking to him. I was glad he was actually able to help me fend off the covenant (seriously Emile, using a shotgun at a LONG range is NOT helping), other than that he felt like eye candy to me "Oh look, that guy's wearing a skull and he's got grenades all over. Reveal hidden contents Yea, I think its mostly due to my lack of knowledge from the previous games, although I knew about Cortana (sic I assume) and somewhat of her role in the series. I was hoping that maybe that Ion cannon would jam, and the only way to take it out is to board the ship (somehow) and sacrifice yourself to destroy it from the inside. It would be a bit cliche I guess, but the entire game knowing that you will be there at the end of Reach, led up to be this grand ending and if it hadn't been for the fact that I felt the ending needed something else I wouldn't have stayed through the credits. The fight at the end felt more of a line of survival and not heroic, your heroic deed has been done. It was sad, but I never felt all that connected to Noble 6. I guess I need to learn about Halo and play the games. I'll be buying the remastered Halo anniversary and go from there and then replay Reach to see if I feel any different. Reveal hidden contents That's why I think it is more heroic in a subtle way. Knowing that you wouldn't get a cliche heroic sacrifice (like two squad members already had). That you'd just be left behind with no one to see your final moments. Not sure if you had seen the advert, but the scenario you just described was how the original Noble Six died. I guess going out that way would've been a nice cyclical thing though. You spelt Cortana correctly. And, yes, she is quite critical to the series. I don't think you should necessarily care about the characters so much if you have played previous games. I never felt connected to them but there was a sense of tragedy in there. It's hard to care about all of the team members when you spend so little time with each of them. Those two have such a great quasi-romance going on that I find it so hard to care about anyone else in the universe. I think that's what made me not enjoy Halo ODST or Reach as much.
